Character Bio:

Early Life
Taja was born on the Federation paradise planet of Risa, in 2371 an older sibling to her brother Malik. Taja enjoyed a fulfilling and prosperous youth in the Federation's resurgence following the long drawn out Dominion War, and Risa in particular saw an increase in tourism following the end of hostilities. Her parents were staunch advocates of the Federation and its ideals, and although they did not serve in Starfleet they aided the Risan government in providing support and rehabilitation to the returning wounded and traumatised of the war. Taja's father operates an independent business that offers pleasure cruises to some of Risa's tourist hotspots and less well known secluded areas. Operating the latest in atmospheric/submersible pleasure craft, the business 'Grippen Excursions' has been a source of income and pride for the family for many years.

Whilst her brother Malik grew close with their father operating the pleasure craft of their excursion business, Taja grew close to their mother. Tandra Grippen held an influential position in Risa's department for environmental conservation and felt personally responsible for ensuring the wildlife of Risa remained protected and undisturbed from the increasing tide of tourists. This would often lead to some heated arguments between Taja's parents, particularly when Leif wished to visit particularly sensitive wildlife areas.

Younger Years
Taja took up an internship with her mother's government department and quickly formed a love of science and nature, particularly tending to the sick and wounded wildlife of Risa. She found her calling interacting with wildlife and other Risans in the field of conservation and medicine. The Grippen family enjoyed an idyllic life where nothing much ever seemed to go wrong. Taja loved her life on Risa amongst its wildlife and spent eight years working with the government to protect and conserve nature. During this time she completed her degree at 'Risa Central Medical School' to become a doctor, specialising in emergency medicine. For a while she was content caring for her local populace, however continued interactions with Starfleet personnel on shore leave inspired an interest in seeing what else the galaxy had to offer. And so, at the ripe age of 26, Taja decided to spread her wings and see the rest of the galaxy applying to Starfleet Academy.

Starfleet
Taja found life in the academy difficult at first, although Earth was considered near to perfection she sorely missed her paradise home of Risa. More than a few times did Taja consider leaving, but spurred on by her parents and brother's encouragement, and finding solace in the other Risian cadets she continued with her studies. She would eventually grow to love the academy and form many firm friendships that lasted throughout her time there. Now with her graduation completed, Taja at the relatively old age of 30 was ready to explore the universe.

Personality
Taja has a sunny disposition and projects an optimistic image of professionalism and jovialness that aids her in making friends and going about her work. If the situation calls for it, she'll try to brighten the situation. Taja's an ambitious and conscientious young officer, dedicated to ensuring the vessel's crew receive the best possible care.
