Nira Said

It's technically not an article, but it's a crucial breakdown of the character and why she's important.

The part that stands out is that her "empathic and telepathic abilities were vital in missions and in detecting potential lies." That's one part of my inspiration for my character, Nira Said, and why she's a forensic science officer (the closest thing there is to an investigator): Nira would be able to detect lies the same way Troi does.

Just imagine if Troi was a regular character on Deep Space Nine; she'd easily aid Odo.

Betazoid
"Reading the mind can be like reading a book at times. Sometimes it is a lot more preferable to skim the pages, but one needs to immerse himself or herself totally into it to discover the truth, if necessary."

Her empathic ability was definitely vital in a lot of missions.
It was so versatile in that it could be used for so many things - including detecting life.
I can see why she is a muse to your character.
