PERSONNEL LOUNGE
Inzjana sat a a table in the corner of the room facing the bar, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible sipping her Coca-Cola. Not your typical Vulcan drink, but Inzjana was not your typical Vulcan, being half Romulan.
It had been a week since their foray to the planet of thieves and for the most part Inzjana had returned back to her usual and comfortable routine, after all, what was life without routine - interesting probably, she thought. Her usual day started off with her getting woken up screaming from nightmares getting only one hour of the usual two Vulcans need every rotation - solar day - had a sonic shower, fed herself and her rabbit and at some point got dressed in a clean uniform and made her to Science Lab 2 to continue her research and usual duties. At lunch she would make her way down to the lounge and order usually a Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza and a Coca-Cola.
No one actually asked her why she never ate Vulcan style food, but the answer was actually simple. It was a common misconception that Vulcans preferred bland food. Yes they are vegetarians but this is replicated food and therefore was actually constructed of plant-based molecules anyway. When it came to bland food, the answer was usually, no, Vulcans hardly ate bland food, except for some recipes, preferring spicy and salty foods instead. Coming from an arid world, Vulcan taste buds weren't as efficient as human taste buds and the same could be said for their sense of smell. It was Vulcan eyesight and hearing (and natural intelligence) that was superior to most life forms, as they were nocturnal predators by biological morphology and are used to a thinner atmosphere. This is why Vulcans wear tinted contact lenses, making their eyes seem darker than they really are as Starfleet vessels are too well lit for their night-vision capable eyes.
After lunch, sitting and eating alone, usually with her favourite PADD, called a Smart-Glass, she would then go back to the lab, finish her shift and then would retire back to her Quarters for dinner. She would then feed and water her rabbit and watch some old and new holovid programs on her Smart-Glass and go to bed after another sonic shower...in other words...routine.
She wouldn't admit it to anyone, but Inzjana was lonely. Oh sure it never really bothered her before and was never bonded to anyone back on T'Khasi (Vulcan name for their planet) and every time she would ask her mother why, she would always get the same answer, or rather lack of it; "You are special", is all her mum would say and when pressed further would change the subject entirely. Inzjana thought it may be because she was half-Romulan, a logical assumption given the bad-blood between the two same but different species. But that didn't gel any more, given that the lack of childhood memories had troubled her immensely. So much so, that given her lack of childhood memories and the nightmares in regards to having to kill her Romulan aunt, Inzjana nearly walked in to the medical bay multiple times to talk with the doctor, but thankfully changed her mind.
Still, Inzjana wanted so much to talk with someone, seeing as her meditations were taking longer to make her breathing abdominal instead of chested and quieting the mind was almost impossible. She managed to achieve it so far, but how long was that going to last.
Being a fellow Vulcan, Inzjana felt the need to confide in the captain, but they were not exactly friends, after all the captain was on the bridge and Inzjana was in science lab 2, but hey, anything can happen on a Starfleet vessel.
