[Captain Tekin's quote]
"Thank you Mr. Felder.  Resume repair work.  Mr. Addams, as soon as we have warp power back set a course for Science Station Tango Sierra.  And you and Mr. Lek have that amount of time to decide what to do about the shuttlebay." he stated, standing up.

[Bridge - USS Discovery]

Lek found himself revolted by the actions of the two species. Even after losing everything, their hatred was so unrelenting, they were ready to destroy the scraps of their civilization, and the Discovery, just to keep that hatred going.

"Sir, even with EPS overloads we experienced, warp speed will still be available in under an hour. Permission to leave the bridge with Lieutenant Addams to try and coordinate 'parking' space in the shuttlebay?"

[USS Discovery - Bridge]

There it was. The situation where you feel you got two situations on a plate. They both can't be on that plate. It was like salt water and fresh water trying to be in the same spot. He had brackish water in dish which should be a bowl.

The Captain had given an order for Lek and himself. He turned to look at his wife with a sad smile. He was not sure what was bothering Torra and what level it was.

They even had done a mission and succeed for staying alive and rescuing the ship. They are on the way to Science Station Tango Sierra and there was time from here and there.

Torra as at her station. He had no power to dismiss her from her station by her Head of Department.

Torra, love, Keep your head up if you can. I am here. I will speak to you when we both get off shift. Unless you get permission from you department. Love, Don. That was the message he had sent to Torra.

Don had sent a message to Ensign Bok-Char to come to take the helm. He better stay quiet and not talk the bridge to much. He was giving the Bolian time on the bridge.

Bok-Char was fast. To fast. When he came flying out the turbolift. That was a concern of Don. That Bolian must had expecting to be on the bridge. That meant he was not focusing on his other duty. He will need to see what Bok was doing and see how he finished it.

'I AM HERE!" he said excitedly. His eye where big as balloons. "Ah..."

Don had to got up his seat facing Torra and gave her a gentle rub on her shoulder as he walked away. Then he had waited for the Captain to answer Lek's request before he headed to the ready room.

Don faced his replacement face to face. "Ensign, please make me proud," he told the Bolian.

"YES SIR!" he chirped up and he sat down. He smiled at Torra. "Hello, Ensign Torra Addams! Glad to see you!" Then he was pouncing away on the console and carefully trying to listen in what they might be saying.

There was clear annoyance of being ignored from the others, but the leader himself was quiet and calm.  His enemies didn't exactly give them this chance of quiet.  There was an interesting thing about this 'Prime Directive', as that was nothing the Ri'lowo had when it came to their first visit a couple hundred years ago.

Myr-sa looked around at the others, and there was a visual disagreement and hesitation.  But ultimately, it did rest with him.

"Alright, you can try... nothing we have tried has worked.  If you can though... you need to tell us how you did it so that we can dest-" he didn't get to finish as what had to have been a mortar landed near them, about a few buildings away.

"The Ri'lowo-shal know you're here.  If you can take this thing down, do it, we'll hold them off.  For Fi'Turs!" he shouted, as the others turned and looked for where they were coming from.  In a few seconds, gun fire could be heard in the distance, and some of them took off in that direction to combat them.

T'Lara nodded as Myr-sa gave them permission, then flinched slightly at the sound of the mortar. It seemed these Ri'lowo-shal could be a force to be reckoned with. She had not been aware there were any still on Fi'Turs, but it was certainly a possibility given the mistrust they'd received. This time the Prime Directive definitely came into play, and the answer was clear. Help the Discovery escape, then leave. Looking to her team, she motioned for them to follow her further in to the facility.

"I will take down the security system. Zhestakova, you will shut down the emitter as soon as I am finished. We need to work quickly. As soon as we have communication we will request to be beamed back to the Discovery," she ordered curtly. Just as with the emitter on Ri'lowo, the security system was intricate and complicated, but not to the point where she had to think too hard. T'Lara worked as quickly as she could while still maintaining perfect proficiency, zoning in on her task by ignoring the fighting going on around her. Once she was finished she motioned to Anastasia to shut down the beam, then she tried her commbadge until she finally came into contact with the request,

=/\= T'Lara to Discovery. Have disabled the emitter on Fi'Turs. Report with any problems with the beam, otherwise, three to beam up. T'Lara out. =/\=

[Polar City - Fi'Turs]
As mortar rounds started detonating nearby, Anastasia was surprising calm as she nodded to T'Lara in receipt of her orders. The Russian woman had learned years ago that if you heard mortars or artillery detonating you were largely fine as no one ever heard the ordinance that bought their farm for them. Still, she assumed a half crouch as they made their way into the facility and made herself small while T'Lara worked. When her turn came, Anastasia quickly analyzed the surprisingly complex system, given the circumstances. Still, all systems could be broken and this was no exception. Using her torch, she severed key connections throughout the device while leaving it largely intact. When finished she let T'Lara know and awaited their extraction.
[U.S.S. Discovery-B - Deck 6 - Transporter Room 1]
As Cadet Wentock and Commander T'Lara made their ways back to their respective stations, Anastasia was left awkwardly alone in the Transporter Room with an Operations Crewman. After spending a few moments shifting her weight from foot to foot, Anastasia gave the crewman a nod and left the room. Not entirely sure, where she was needed Anastasia decided it would be best if she reported back in with the First Officer, as she was the last person she was under the supervision of. Making her way to the bridge, she thought with a little tint of pride, Vell, at least zhe ship vas not destroyed zhis time. Ees an improvement.
[U.S.S. Discovery-B - Deck 1 - Bridge]
Stepping onto the bridge, Anastasia took a position near the turbolift door but out of the way before announcing herself. "Kommandor, I am unsure of vhere I should be reporting now. As I vas not dismissed I zhought eet best I report back to you, Ma'am." With any obvious danger seemingly passed, Anastasia was presenting a calm demeanor for the first time since she knocked on Counselor Master's door, what seemed like weeks ago.

Nevir smiled, nodding his head at the two senior officers.  "Well.. then we can only hope the information doesn't come back until they are ready.  Either way, there is nothing more for us to do here.  I think we can call this mission done." he stated, tapping controls on his chair while they left the system.

Felder turned to her, with a look of slight annoyance.  "Do you really think we have buoys we deploy to send radio waves telling off planets?  What purpose do you think the captain would order a subspace buoy to be deployed for a species, or pair of species, that doesn't have subspace communication?  Comm buoys are for subspace transmissions.  You need to put more faith in the Captain's intelligence, Miss Said.  Besides... its not our place to speculate the motives of alien races.  Maybe its because we're outsiders, maybe its because we invaded, maybe they just wanted something to shoot at.  You would do well to stick to facts and evidence, and leave the speculations for academic papers." he said, shaking his head.  Maybe he shouldn't have brought up the thought of promotion.

Felder looked down at the primary panel and nodded with Torra's report.  Buoy deployed, they were leaving the system, the fun was now over.  With not much left to do up front, Felder started a weapons diagnostic.  "No pursuit detected Captain... I think they've returned to going after each other."

"Thank you Mr. Felder.  Resume repair work.  Mr. Addams, as soon as we have warp power back set a course for Science Station Tango Sierra.  And you and Mr. Lek have that amount of time to decide what to do about the shuttlebay." he stated, standing up.

"Commander T'Lara, you have the bridge, I'll be in my ready room." Nevir stated, turning and walking off the bridge.

Torra tried not to listen in as Felder reprimanded Nira openly for her questioning out of turn and unnecessarily.  She didn't like hearing her friend get dressed down.  Nira was so much more intelligent than so.   Torra wanted to see her succeed.

After the Captain retired to his ready room, and with the ship headed away from the system, Torra messaged her Department Head to request replacement for the rest of her shift.   In fact she took then next three days off as Sick Leave, cc'ing Luby as the medical contact, should Lt Banan needed the proof.   Torra felt completely justified in this action.  She was feeling very emotionally spent and figured she would need the time to recuperate fully.

Torra had heard the Captain's order to both Lek and Don, but unlike Don, Torra got the impression that as long as the task was done before they arrived at the Science Station that there was no urgency.  So she was a little surprised to receive an apologetic message from her husband telling her to keep her head up and that he would see her after his shift.  Torra was unexpectedly upset at the realization that - despite knowing that she was distraught - he didn't even try to defer the task.  Of course she understood that the Captain had given an order but Torra still felt abandoned.  She was so upset that she the didn't bother reading the rest of the message.

Soon after Don's replacement arrived and after a brief touch upon her shoulder he was gone and Torra was left feeling bereft.  The boisterous greeting from Bok-Char that normally she would have been more than happy to return in kind, was met with a frown.  Thankfully she didn't have to stay long beside him, for a moment later her own replacement arrived.  It was Elena once more who regarded Torra in concern.   "Torra, are okay?" she quietly asked as she switched spots with the Grazerite.  Normally Torra only ever called for replacement if she was called on a superior to do a task.  That wasn't the case this time according to Lt Banan.  This had Torra former cabinmate worried about her friend.

Once more Torra was torn between needing to talk and wanting to tell Don first.  So Torra said nothing just merely nodded and murmured a quiet 'thank you' as she turned to leave the Bridge.

She seemed to be tired. Wondering what she needed to tell him. He was not a good husband putting his duty before her. He let a sigh out. Though he was not going to disturb her. He stood at the threshold of the door to adore her.

The Eagle ship was taking nearly half of the shuttle bay. Which was more work for Don cause it was his area in his department. The shuttle bay was full.

He had decided to stay quiet to hear what the Chief of Engineer had to say.

Due to her position on the bed - laying on her side facing away from the door - it was easy to be mistaken as sleeping.  That is until she drew in a shuddering breath before allowing another sob to escape.

A sudden situational sixth sense had the Grazerite aware that someone was observing her, and Torra, wiping at her moist eyes to dry them, turned towards the room's doorway.   There she saw Don standing in the door at the entrance to the bedroom.  "Don?"

She didn't understand why he was standing silently at the doorway and not stepping in to console her.  Torra looked towards her husband with eyes red from crying and held out a hand towards him - needing to be held by him.

She sat up, making space for him beside her.  "I have some terrible news."

Torra had struggled with how to tell him.  Yet quite honestly there was no good way to break the news.  So she just spoke plainly.  "During my medical check-up, Luby discovered that I've miscarried."

Torra had struggled with how to tell him.  Yet quite honestly there was no good way to break the news.  So she just spoke plainly.  "During my medical check-up, Luby discovered that I've miscarried."

The over concerned husband sat next to his wife. "œMiscarried..." the words came out of his mouth. What was miscarried mean. His brain could not process the meaning of the word. The word of vocabulary was not used every day.

He had to think it out. Torra most likely would say it again. Then his wheels in his brain clicked. Miscarriage was when a woman had lost her child in her womb.

The brain was like baby....she was pregnant....he and Torra could had a baby. She was pregnant. He did not know. Did she knew and not tell him? This was a shocker. This could not be real. But why she did not tell him? Did she knew this for a long time?

"œAre you sure?" He asked. Hearing his own words. "œI mean..."  He could not move his body. It was not wanting to go. His eyes was deep of concern. Better time was slow as a snail for he was stunned. "œAnd..." his eyes was searching hers. There was pain. Sadness.

Why did she not tell him earlier? He had failed to see that his wife was needing him when the Captain told Lek and Don to go to the Shuttle bay...which he could he put it on the side. He had put his duty before his wife. There was not red alert or yellow alert. It was not priority, but he failed to be there for his wife.

Still his body had not wanted to move cause it was like stuck. Who knows it was only one second and a heart beat which felt like ten minutes.

With the buoy in position there was not much else for them to do. T'Lara could understand the want to help the two planets, though she couldn't feel the emotion of pity. War was never an easy thing, but she thought that if the Discovery had actually intervened, they'd ultimately regret it. The war was for the aliens to fight, and perhaps they would eventually find peace.

"Understood, Captain." At Nevir's order she stood and took his place. Taking up her PADD, she turned it on and began to oversee the repair work and other department reports.

Then Lek was off toward Engineering. As he saw Lek walked out the door he just missed the operation time to talk to Lek about Lieutenant Nira.

No. He personally talked to Nira about the incident. If Lek reports it then so be it. He could have a talk to Commander Felder off duty as off record. Ask Felder to think what he should do. But he had to shove that aside.

There was a worried wife waiting for him. But he was stop by Ensign Malloy and she was requesting to stay late to work on a project she was working on. Don said yes, but don't over do it. Then he rushed toward Torra and his quarters.

The young woman shrugged and then let her shoulders drop "... you never know when you might get in trouble on a ship or situations like this when other people to rely on might not exactly be in abundance.  I'd prefer only ever to deal with things pertaining to my expertise in Medical or Science, but life isn't that easy!"

She stood still and let the transporter beam take her with some relief when she knew she was going back to the ship.

With a nod of thanks at the officer on the transporter controls she turned back to T'Lara.

"But I appreciate that you do Ma'am... By pure mathematical numbers, there are expected to be tens to hundreds of thousands of civilizations in our galaxy.  The odds of encountering a new civilization are so common it seems there are a hundred new species every standard year.  First contact is a required procedure for all Starfleet cadets, and for all command officers.  It is supposed to be a great honor for a Captain to have First Contact.

But what they don't tell you is the dark side of First Contact.  For every one species First Contact is done for, there are a half a dozen that are considered not ready.  It is a painful thing to see a civilization that is all but obliterated by its own hand, but it is more than clear that the twin races of the Ri'lowo and Fi'Turs worlds are some of those not ready for First Contact.  Nothing can be done about the ones who have seen either away team, but considering the wreck of the Romulan ship, it is more likely that these people are already more than familiar with the existence of life outside their system.

Both the Federation and the Romulans have been made aware of this system, and a joint venture to monitor the planet is being planned.  Remote work for the time being.  My crew did an excellent job in the face of the unknown, and I have planned commendations for them.  Hopefully the next time we are given the chance to make First Contact, it will go much smoother.
