[Bridge]
"Thank you, Crewman." Kyle said as he signed off on the requests.
Honestly, Yates would have been proud that Reyes wasn't bouncing on her heels waiting for the report to be signed. That was probably why Anderson and not her was in attendance. Be still her Starfleet-stout heart should she witness Reyes breaking protocol by
smiling the wrong way or something at the Captain.
"No prob- erm..." Anderson was practically flagging her down before she even finished her sentence. "Captain," Reyes acknowledged with a nod instead. She took back the PADD and ignored the way Anderson was making a silent cheer behind the Captain's back.
He turned and smiled at the young Crewman that had just brought him the reports. They were cruising smoothly so he saw no issues with a little training. He stood and straightened his uniform.
"Crewman Reyes. You have the Bridge." he said as he headed for the Conference Room.
Wait.
What? Reyes eyes widened when he turned away - she was so stunned she couldn't muster a chance to protest or question his orders. She had the bridge.
She. Had. The. Bridge!Let's be real, here. The only ship she's ever commandeered was the squatter freighter and even then it was done in jest. Was she the Captain now? Could she sit in his oh so nice plush Captain's chair? Anderson was trying not to develop an aneurysm beside her and all she could do was nervously gesture Reyes to move.
Squelching the urge to run back to the turbolift, Reyes gripped her PADD hard and took two giant steps to the side of the Captain's chair and tried to
look like she belonged there. So far, no Klingon attacks. She let out a very concentrated exhale and, tentatively, stepped in front of the Captain's chair like she was doing an awkward waltz. No decloaking Romulans, fantastic!
It was like trying to defuse a 21st century bomb. Anderson literally started chewing on her nails when Reyes gingerly took a seat at the edge of the chair, but so far no one reprimanded her for it. A little more confident, she leaned back and sank into the most comfortable chair in the entire galaxy and crossed her legs.
Oh.
What power! Her heart fluttered in delight and felt more at ease in the command chair. It was like a first kiss. Only less humiliating and without being sandwiched into a cargo container.
