Kyle listened in as the Ops Officer filled him and Wu in on the remainder of the Away Team members still left on the planet. "Team One still has Commander Pardek, Lieutenant Kaz and Crewman Ainsley planet side with three of their Observation Team members and the equipment is starting to be beamed up now. And Team Two still has Commander Tekin and Lieutenant Filitov. Equipment is coming up now and the others just beamed up with the Observation Team from their location."

So five crew members and three Ob Team members. Kyle thought.

=^=Great. Commander Wu, let's continue getting everyone aboard with all the equipment and we'll head home. Briggs out.=^=

[Bridge]

"Ops, as soon as Pardek's team finishes their final sweep for missing equipment, get them back onboard and we'll switch our attention to Tekin's position." Alex ordered, swiveling open his chair console to monitor the retrieval process. The sensors were picking up multiple biosignatures surrounding Tekin and Filitov. Well that's a problem. Once it was confirmed that the team had beamed in, he quickly tapped his commbadge.

=/\="Wu to Kaz, I know you're probably anxious to get the prosthetics off, but we need you in main engineering working on a problem. Take Reyes with you, I need options on how we can create a visual and tangible distraction, strong enough to draw all the locals into the streets, but not leave any permanent damage. Lightning storm, localized earthquake...anything short of destroying infrastructure. You've got ten minutes."=/\= Alex reckoned Tekin was doing some fast talking down on the surface, but knew they would eventually be taken out into the open for further questioning. More publicity was the last thing they needed.

Bridge

Sassa walked back onto the Bridge after depositing Ruthie with the counsellor.

She nodded at Commander Wu and reported simply "Ms Falleg-Grix is with the counsellor now, Commander." and walked to the Ops station to take her place.  She guessed the other Operations personnel were with the away team.

"Thank you, Crewman, take the Ops station. We have two crewmembers still on the planet surface, I want you to keep a signal lock on them at all times." He tapped his commbadge again, this time summoning a tactical officer. =/\="Wu to Ainsley, report to the bridge."=/\=

It was a sort, quick ride to the Bridge.

"Let get a fix on Commander Tekin and Lieutenant Filitov. We should be getting them back any minute now."

He looked up and noticed Wu talking to someone he'd never seen before. "And apparently, we're getting other people as well. Commander?" he said as to ask Alex who the newcomer was.

"Sir, we've got a slight issue regarding Tekin and Filitov, they appear to have some local company. I've asked Lieutenant Kaz and Crewman Reyes to work on a distraction to draw their attention elsewhere. With urgency." Alex reported, rising to his feet while greeting the Captain. "And this is Crewman Sassa, newly arrived onboard."

Kali Reyes

[Planetside - Team 2]

A tiny ball of anger and annoyance hummed in Kali's chest when Filitov did her job again and shepherded all her ducks for transport. What was the point of her being in Operations when everyone else was going to do her job for her? She let out an exhale and started with the clean up. Because no one else was going to do the clean up - she was the crewman janitor after all.

Quote from: Kachina Filitov

"Get zis show on ze road!" She shouted at them. She then went over and began packing handfuls of notes and personal possessions into bags.

The dirt poor colonists back on Tellur II treated her much better than this. Joining Starfleet really was a punishment. She grabbed whatever fancy equipment that wasn't bolted down and then tagged the bigger items for transport. She was the bigger person. She locked her jaw and did whatever scrap job she had left before Filitov tried to take that too. And when she was barked at to get ready for transport, Kali wordlessly followed with the others.

This wasn't a fun away mission at all.

[USS Discovery]

Kali was ready to make a beeline for sickbay to get rid of the awful prosthesis when Kaz's combadge chirped.

"Main Engineering?" She perked up considerably and almost barreled Kaz over with her reignited enthusiasm. "Oh god! I've got so many ideas! Distraction - no sparky boom-boom's - got it! Think the emitters are powerful enough to make a giant hologram?! Or-or maybe a phaser light show over the horizon!" Kali started to bounce all around Kaz. "What are we waiting for?! Let's go-go-go, Kaz!"

Klabax Cottle

[Sickbay]

He had seen the Captain leave, but right now he was in the middle of his "Doctor" phase. Accordingly, he wouldn't pay attention to anyone unless they actually hit him in the head. He kept working, his tools being used but the surgery, in essence, was pretty easy. He staunched the internal bleeding, and finished his surgery. While the patient would be out for several hours, he should be just fine. Klabax took a hypospray and injected an immunosupplement, which would help bolster the man's immune system, at least for a while.

Deactivating the isolation field, he walked out of the surgery ward and back into the main bay, ready to do anything he needed. It had been a long day, but thankfully he wasn't tired. He would need to sleep next in about two months, but until then he was fine.

Kyle turned to the new Crewman. "Welcome aboard. We'll have a more formal face to face a little later." he added as he turned back to Alex. "Keep me informed about Tekin and Filitov. I'll be in my Ready Room taking care of our guest and their issues." He turned and headed in.

Kyle had only been in his office about three minutes when the chime from his door announced visitors. "Come in." he called out. Two Security Officers entered with Benjamin Daughtry in tow. The mans facial expressions couldn't remain still. He was torn between his happiness to be leaving the planet and the fear of what was to come form his blundering.

"Doctor Daughtry." Kyle said politely. "Have a seat. Dismissed." he told the escorts.

Without another word, Kyle simply slid a PADD across his desk toward Daughtry. "We'll be in transit a few days heading home. I thought you might like some reading material."

Daughtry lifted the PADD and read the screen.

"Captain. I can as....." was all Daughtry got out.

"Save it, Doctor. I'm not the one you'll have to convince that your team didn't screw up down there. Until then, you're all confined to quarters for the duration of the trip." he said as he pressed a button on his desk to summon the guards back in. "Take him to his quarters."

Daughtry tried to protest but Kyle wasn't listening as he was taken away. Briggs continued to sit there for a few moments longer.

Katcha nodded

"Aye Kommander." She replied in a low voice as she watched the doctor and the 4 members of the observation team beam up to the Discovery. She turned back to Nevir and saw he had already left.

She went to the door and peered along the corridor. She saw that a member of their local Politzi was talking to him and heard him say that he was a member of the local Historical Society. She decided that she should go and help him. She opened the door further and made her way as demurely as possible towards him.

"What is going on Darling?" She asked, slipping her arm through his as she arrived at his side.

[Planetside]

"Since when did the Ministry feel the need to sneak around?" One of the policeman spoke, the other looking around. For now Nevir could only hope that protocol was being followed.

Nevir was thankful for getting the information he needed, as he gave a smirk with his altered face.  "That is a silly question.  We have reports coming in during the festival?  We want to make sure its not a thread being so close to the government building." he said, as he sighted Kachina exiting the door.  Guess it took more time than he thought to convince these people.

"And who is this?" said another cop, both suspiciously and with a sense of flirt underneath.

"That would be my wife, and one of the foremost experts in this district.  If she's here, that means our work here is done."

"Work?  Her?  Where did she come from?"

"Wait... is it that locked room?"

Weapons were drawn, and Nevir raised an eyebrow.  "You dare pull a weapon on a family, let alone ministry workers?"

"A precaution... open that room.  That's all we want."

Nevir turned to the Russian lieutenant and then sighed.  There was no avoiding this, and this wanted no issues.  "Very well.  We were able to break through the dead bolt." he said, as he walked with her to the door.  Praying that the last of the equipment was gone, he slowly reached for the door, and then turned it, swinging it open to reveal... nothing.

Well, not exactly.  It looked like street rats played here.  He gave a mental sigh of relief and turned to the cops.  "Is that better?"

"I don't understand... it was locked.  We couldn't even break it down.  It was just.. children?"

"That is how most ghost stories occur, sergeant.  Its the younglings who frolic where they don't belong."

This seemed to satisfy the cops, and they all left the building at once, deciding to leave it to the residents to believe what they will.  There was nothing bad about it, and hey, perhaps someone good of it would come.  Nevir and Kachina took a few steps and then he pulled her into an alley, secluded and off the beaten path.

"Well... not bad for First Contact?" he said with a chuckle, as he pulled out his comm badge.

=/\= "Tekin to Discovery.  This site is clear.  Two to beam up."=/\=

"Thanks for your help Kachina.  Let's go home."

"Aye Sir." She smiled and withdrew her arm. She took a pace or two to one side and waited for transport.

"It is a pleasure to meet your Captain." Sassa smiled and inclined her head towards the Captain when she heard Wu introduce her.  "It would appear that the aforementioned crewmembers are ready to beam aboard, with your permission..."

"That position, Mr Scott, would not only be unavailing but also undignified."

[Guest Quarters]

Benjamin Daughtry sat in his "cell" as he thought of it, and planned his revenge on Captain Kyle Briggs. The man had spoken down to him like some sort of child. He wasn't gonna take that from him or anyone else. He'd bring Briggs down a peg or two. Even if took him the rest of his life to do so.

Kyle Briggs

It only took about another half hour before Briggs got the news that Tekin and Filitov were finally back aboard and they were headed back to Starbase Columbus. Everyone on the Away Teams were in Sickbay getting all their alterations undone. Kyle had heard a rumor that someone had teased Kaz about not being able to get her spots back and threatened something to the effect of sabotaging his quarters replicator. That little dispute was ended amicably. The Observer Teams were still in their quarters and would remain there until they reached their destination. All the equipment and such that they had down on the planet was currently being crated up down in Cargo Bay Two. He was quite certain there would be some reprimands handed out where they were concerned. Especially that Daughtry fellow. Kyle took another swallow of his Deka tea. Things were back to normal and they were headed home.
