=^= "Alpha to Commander Wu, you failed to schedule your physiotherapy sessions.  I require your presence promptly in order to rectify this situation." =^=

[Bridge]

Goodnaturedly groaning, Alex shook his head. "That's what I get for being tardy. Enjoy yourself Nevir, and if you wouldn't mind, pass on a message to Lieutenant Jiseth that she owes me some flying time." He sighed, turning back towards the turbolift. =/\="Alpha, this is Wu, I'm on my way."=/\=

[Sickbay]

It was only a short jaunt from the bridge to sickbay, made even shorter by Alex's irateness of being so close to getting offship, and having it snatched away at the last second. Striding into the medical realm, he spotted Zero standing with Doctor Vaughan, and made a beeline for them. Alex held his hands infront of him for a moment as though expecting Alpha to pounce. "I know, I know, I'm sorry. It's been a busy few weeks. When do you want me in for the appointments, and why do you," He looked pointedly at Vaughan, "Look like the cat who ate the canary?"

Lizzie smiled back at Alex.

"I'm waiting for Lieutenant Hawke. He has put off the fifth appointment to report here to have both his physical and to check to make sure he is not suffering any further symptoms. I have therefore releaved him of duty and ordered him to report here in the next." She looked at the chronometer. "22 minutes. I have advised him that should he fail to report, security will be requested to escort him here. With the relevant effect on his permanent record. Should all be well I will allow him to return to duty immediately, but something tells me that he is purposely avoiding us. Though I have no idea why. Do you have any idea why he would go to such extremes?" She asked.

[Bridge]

Sukal sat at his Operations console on the bridge monitoring the various things currently going on both aboard and around the starship.  With the diplomatic mission currently going on; Sukal had made sure the sensors were attuned to the surrounding area for up to one-half light-year.  Naturally, he had also made quite sure that there was a constant transporter lock on the diplomatic team.  Just because things were going well thus far; did not mean it would continue to do so.  He had his hopes that there would be no crisis, but Sukal never was one to allow his guard to drop.  His first assignment in his return to active Starfleet had been with the Human portion of the crew ending up under some very lethal influence.  An influence which had nearly caused his ship and the arriving PHOENIX to fly into the nearby sun.  Fortunately, that situation had been resolved, but Sukal had not liked the surprise of having to deal with the majority of the crew under the dangerous influence of someone.

One of the things he had been taking care of at his station was the allocating of power to various departments.  Science was particularly requesting a great deal more than normal, but that had been expected, and Sukal had made sure the department had enough to continue its scans and numerous other tasks.  Engineering was the other department as it seemed a decision had been made to check over many of the starship's systems...despite having recently come from Starbase Columbia.  Thus, Sukal was balancing things accordingly between the two departments...always it was such with Ops.

Now, Jiseth and Tekin would be going down in the Argo to do some exploring of the atmosphere.  It was a natural enough assignment to wish for, and it now had been approved.  So, Sukal made sure there were enough Operational personnel in the shuttle bay to assist Jiseth in getting the Argo ready...assuming she hadn't done it already herself.

"Captain, no trouble sighted for one-half light-year.  All systems are performing excellently," Sukal reported calmly from his station.  "I am continuing to look into the dangerous blast that attacked the DISCOVERY on our first mission in the hopes of us being better defended."
"'The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably.' Those words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie as wisdom and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged."  ~Captain Jean-Luc Picard:  2367

[Sickbay]

The message from the First Officer had given her enough time to pull up the physiotherapist's appointment schedule on a console and scan through it for available appointments before he had actually arrived in sickbay, meaning that Zero was ready for him.  What she hadn't been ready for was the annoyance in his posture and the way he strode across sickbay toward them.  In fact, she almost flinched when he held his hands out before realising that it was a placating gesture.

"I have formulated a series of appointments which I believe will accelerate the recovery of your shoulder.  There is a session available immediately, or you may begin tomorrow.  If you choose to begin tomorrow, I will, uh..." She faltered as she tried to remember the human idiom.  "Take a line of code from Lieutenant Vaughan's PADD?"

=/\=Vaughan to Hawke. Under Starfleet Regulation 121 Section A, you are hearby releaved of duty effective immediately and you are to report directly to Sickbay. If you do not arrive in sickbay within 30 minutes, security will be dispatched to escort you and a note will be added to your permanent file. Vaughan out!=/\=

James reacted by dropping the PADD. And began to think "Regulation 121 Section A....does she think that I am under alien influence or medically unfit....Hawke to Lt. Sukal, I will be sending a request for two Bio Neural Gel Packs, it goes with the Data Stream of the Holodeck so the repair should be a low priority Hawke out =/\=

James spend a couple of minutes crawling out of the Jeffrey's Tubes.  Thinking to himself.

"I COULD tell the doctor the Truth...but that would violate orders...what to do...what to do=/\=Hawke to Vaughan, I am in the middle of some repairs here with data streams, can we make another appointment next week...I promise I won't pick up any more Engineering shifts...c'mon I'll give you my Holodeck time and I will add a bottle of non replicated Spanish red wine as a cherry on top=/\

" James thought to himself.

"I understand, Lieutenant. I'm pretty bored with this myself. Just keep pushing through and hope they reach an agreement soon." Kyle said.

He could see the look in Nevir's face. "Listen. If you ever wanna talk, I'm here, okay?" he offered.

As he headed back to his seat, he got a call.

"I was thinking the same thing myself." Kyle admitted. "Just to get away for a while." He took a second and was about to tell Wu to take the pilot and Tekin, since Jiseth wasn't Science and head out for a bit when there came another call.

"Well. Looks like you have an appointment already." he teased as he turned to the Science Officer. "What do you say, Tekin. Wanna go get some closer readings?" he asked. He knew the Scientist in him wouldn't pass it up, so Kyle slapped his comm before Tekin could reply.

=^=Briggs to Jiseth. Meet Lieutenant Tekin in the Shuttle Bay in ten minutes. If you're gonna go do sciencey stuff, might as well take a Scientist with you. Briggs out.=^=

He turned back to Tekin. "Better get a move on." he said with a grin. He hoped this would make him feel a little better.

The Bajoran said nothing at first, but nodded.  It was like a hole in his being, and he couldn't understand why she would think that he was capable of such things.  But until she decided to talk to him, there wasn't much he could do.

His thoughts were interrupted when the Captain ordered him to the shuttles to assist another crewmate, and he stared in shock at his commanding officer.

"Yes, sir, but under Starfleet regulations 457.6, as well as my probationary terms, I'm not allowed in a shuttle.  I don't want Starfleet to find any reason to assume I'm guilty."

Lizzie smiled back at Alex.

"I'm waiting for Lieutenant Hawke. He has put off the fifth appointment to report here to have both his physical and to check to make sure he is not suffering any further symptoms. Should all be well I will allow him to return to duty immediately, but something tells me that he is purposely avoiding us. Though I have no idea why. Do you have any idea why he would go to such extremes?" She asked.

[Sickbay]

Glancing at Zero and giving both of them a bemused smile, Alex shook his head. "Despite my own long and illustrious career of avoiding sickbay, I can't think of a reason why any crewman would risk being relieved of duty if those were the two choices. I usually put off my medicals to stay on the active duty list..."

He crossed his arms, leaning up against a bed. Alex kept his tone light so as not to come off as though Vaughan had done something wrong. "Doctor, I know it's your prerogative to keep the crew up to date on their medicals, and I have no issues with that. However, if you wouldn't mind, next time please go through the perspective member's department head first prior to relieving them of duty. If that's ineffective, bring it directly to me and I'll have it dealt with accordingly. Orders work just as well as threats sometimes."

She faltered as she tried to remember the human idiom.  "Take a line of code from Lieutenant Vaughan's PADD?"

Alex tried not to look confused, although that wasn't entirely successful as he mused over Zero's attempt of using another idiom. Take a line of code... The realization of what she meant came moments later. "Take a page from Vaughan's book." He chuckled, raising an eyebrow at the young doctor. "Today will be fine. Are you going to be running the session, or...?"

=/\=Hawke to Vaughan, I am in the middle of some repairs here with data streams, can we make another appointment next week...I promise I won't pick up any more Engineering shifts...c'mon I'll give you my Holodeck time and I will add a bottle of non replicated Spanish red wine as a cherry on top=/\

Alex's cheery disposition faltered as his eyebrows wrinkled in a rare display of annoyance. It was bad enough that the lieutenant had decided to try and charm his way out, he had done it over an open channel. Looks like discipline is something we'll have to work on. I'll also probably have to have a word with Lichter. "I'd be willing to bet latinum he didn't intend for the XO to hear that. Doctor, if you'll allow me." Alex smiled faintly at Vaughan while tapping his commbadge. =/\="Wu to Lieutenant Hawke, report to sickbay immediately. I will personally inform your department head the reason for your absence from your post. Wu, out."=/\=

Sickbay

When Hawke's reply came through she almost lost her temper and shouted at him. She did however decide that she would have to carry out her threat. Se was about to reply when Alex beat her to it.

[Sickbay]

Glancing at Zero and giving both of them a bemused smile, Alex shook his head. "Despite my own long and illustrious career of avoiding sickbay, I can't think of a reason why any crewman would risk being relieved of duty if those were the two choices. Lizzie turned to Alex and gave him a grim smile.

"Normally I would Commander, but has kept putting the appointment off and could possibly be endangering the crew. If he had reported as requested, I could have been done and returned him to duty already. I have also already spoken to the Chief Engineer. Lieutenant Lichter did remark that Mr Hawke had been requesting extra shifts.

"Thank you Commander. I hope he does for his sake. I cannot fathom why someone would go to such lengths to avoid a physical, let alone something that had caused every other Human on board physical harm!"

[Sickbay]

Zero had waited patiently for Alex to finish his conversation with the Chief Medical Officer, observing and listening intently in case there was some element that she could pick up on and study.  The First Officer's stance and tone were interesting.  It was obviously a criticism of her handling of the situation, yet the way he folded his arms and leaned against the biobed suggested that it was more informal, while maintaining the air of confidence that he was in charge and the Lieutenant was not a threat.

The expression of confusion that he turned to her afterward, however, was one that she was all too familiar with.  She had used the idiom wrong or used the wrong words.  Colloquial language was extremely difficult to use.  Before she could respond to the question about his therapy sessions, a communication came through from the officer who had been avoiding his medical.  The change in expression on his face to one of annoyance was one that brought a flash of wariness to her own pale features.

"I- I am capable of undertaking your physical therapy sessions unless you wish to request a different doctor," she replied, looking away from him to the PADD in her hands.

[Deck 15]

James kept slowly walking to Sickbay.  Part of him hoped that a Red Alert would be called and he can just head towards battle stations.  However, luck would have it they are in a diplomatic mission and one that would likely be easy.

He attempted to see if he could avoid the meeting and pushing it to next week in an effort to avoid it.  Sooner or later someone is going to find out about him, it would only be a matter of time.  Hopefully over time the trust would have been built up.

As he walked looking down pondering his next move he got a comm message..

=/\="Wu to Lieutenant Hawke, report to sickbay immediately. I will personally inform your department head the reason for your absence from your post. Wu, out."=/\=

James took a deep breath.  His faced illustrated that he was exasperated.  He was tired from not sleeping and overworking on purpose.  He had been avoiding the scans, all other options would have resulted in more negative consequences.

He could not blame the Commander for doing his job.  He was the XO of the ship and he needed to enforce the rules.  Even though, he does not know how it feels like an XO during peace time.
Hawke wondered if it would be easier or harder making sure everyone is in line.

With a subdued tone James responded =/\= Lieutenant Hawke to Commander Wu, Affirmative, I am on my way =/\=

"Checkmate....this is going to suck***

[Sickbay]

After a couple of minutes of walking the hallway and taking the turbo lift, Hawke entered Sickbay.   He came in as felt the doors swish behind him.  He looked around the room and noticed that he did not know a single face.

He looked around the room and made eye contact with several individuals in the room.  James said in a defeated tone of voice ".  James did not want to be there and his tone of voice reflected anything but excitement.

"Think...Think...James there has to be a way out" James thought

Lizzie had been staring at the door as Hawke entered. She took a pace forward and indicated the primary bio-bed.

"Please take a seat on bed one Lieutenant." She said, her voice icy as she took out a tricorder.

[Sickbay]

As James finished his statement he looked around the medical area.  Truth be told it was the first time he was in Sickbay in an Akira class vessel.  Hawke noticed a petit redhead humanoid female staring at him as he walked in.  He looked at her collar and noticed the rank of full lieutenant.  That coupled with the fact that she was wearing blue gave James a reasonable that she was the Chief Medical Officer.

The Chief Medical officer pointed the first bed and said
"Please take a seat on bed one Lieutenant."

James looked at the bed and noticed that her tone was a little cold.  He would have requested a bathroom break at the moment, but he believed that said break would have been ill-advised.  James swallowed his saliva as he approached the bed.

Time was running out.  James had not found a way to get out of this medical examination.  Every Doctor worth her salt would be able to find that his records from 2392 would not match up with the current records.  Every other option would have resulted with getting captured or unintended collateral damage.

He approached the bed and sat near the foot rest area of the bed.  He faced looking at redhead female.  He took a deep breath and said "I think we might have gotten off in the wrong foot, my name is James ...

"Ms Alpha, I have known you for quite some time now, I think it's safe to say that you're my doctor." Alex reassured her. Vaughan would be busy enough with her own patient soon anyways. "Doctor Vaughan, let me know if we need to speak further on the subject of collecting your patients. Lead the way Alpha, I am yours to poke and prod for the next...well, however long you decide to take. Under an hour hopefully?"

[Astrophysics Lab]

Unlike most of the crew, bored with little to do during this First Contact diplomatic mission, Anastasia was quite enjoying herself. With the plethora of planetary specialists onboard, she had managed to weasel out of any work directly related to this mission and instead had hidden herself away in the Astrometrics and Stellar Cartography labs, working on her own side projects. She had been required to defend these action on the second day of their mission to her supervisor by connecting possible interactions within this system but, if the Russian teen was honest with herself, she hardly expected to find anything. Therefore she hadn't actually looked and was instead refamiliarizing herself with her first ship.

It had been some time since she had been aboard the Discovery and the first few days had not been pleasant. However, she had grown enough since she had left the Discovery to move past her immobilizing fear and get on with her job, along with the help of some liquid courage to get her through the nights. Still, she was settling in nicely in her own opinion and this was a fine first mission for her to get her feet wet aboard the ship. Now, viz my luck, I vill be called avay for somezing silly like an avay mission.

"Captain, no trouble sighted for one-half light-year.  All systems are performing excellently," Sukal reported calmly from his station.  "I am continuing to look into the dangerous blast that attacked the DISCOVERY on our first mission in the hopes of us being better defended."

"Good idea, Lieutenant. Let me know what you find." Kyle said. "That's definitely something I wouldn't want to repeat." He hadn't told anyone but he was still getting headaches that he contributed to that attack.

"Yes, sir, but under Starfleet regulations 457.6, as well as my probationary terms, I'm not allowed in a shuttle.  I don't want Starfleet to find any reason to assume I'm guilty."

"Completely understood, Lieutenant. But we're wayyyyy out here. And they're wayyyyy back there." Kyle said with a grin. "And it isn't like you'll be alone. I think we're all safe for now. In fact, go ahead and take Mister Benjamin with you. That'll give us a Pilot, a Scientist and an Operations person. Everything is covered. Now get out of here." Kyle added teasingly. "Go see what these Dazasanians have to offer."

Kyler reached for his comm badge as he watched Tekin head for the lift.

=^=Briggs to Benjamin. We're sending you on a survey mission. Meet Lieutenants Jiseth and Tekin in the shuttle bay in ten minutes. Briggs out.=^=
