Katcha smiled at him. At least he had asked for clarification rather than assuming something.

"I vould like a full Security and veapons report and zen separately a report on ze fighters and confirmation on ven ze TIC is ready to start operations." She clarified.

Lennox nodded with a small quirk of his lips, he knew that the weapons that he had handled, fixed and made sure that there would not be any misfires would be good to go. "Security an' weapons seem to be all good te go whenev'r ye need 'em. Went ov'r mos' o' 'em earlier before comin' up te talk te ye, ma'am." He replied, checking his PADD.

The Scotsman looked up at Kachina, "I'll make me way ov'r, now."

[Turbolift -> Shuttlebays; TIC]

The journey down was quick, Lennox stood there. It was really his first time visiting the shuttle bays during use.

Kinley nodded at the XO. "I totally understand, sir.  And I'm glad you trust us. " Smiling, she glanced over at the XO's research. "Do you need any help with your research, sir? "

Nevir smiled, shaking his head.  "Not at the moment Lieutenant.  Just checking some updates.  I'll be keeping you appraised should that change." he said, when he got the call that the Admiral was on board, and a senior staff meeting was called.

"Keep up the good work you two.  I have a meeting to go to." he said, turning towards the door and heading for Deck one.

=/\= "Tekin to Michaels, staff meeting right now.  Report to the conference room."=/\= he said, getting a confirmation from his acting CSO.

Nevir walked through the doors, seeing the rest of the Command crew and Mackenzie.  Prophets, he'll never get over seeing someone who looks so young.  He walked around and stood near the Admiral.

"Welcome back, sir.  I trust everything went well?" he asked, as the Chief Science Officer also made an appearance in the room.

[Hanger -> Discovery]

"Thank you, Dr. Kintiss" Kirok replied.  After everyone filed onto the shuttle, it made it's way to the Discover.  Then it was time for everyone to disembark.

"I would like Senior Staff to meet in the conference room.  I will be up momentarily.  After I show Mr. Kimball to Engineering and introduce him coworkers" the half Vulcan said.

Katcha got the message that there was a meeting in the conference room. She got up, straightened her uniform and turned to Mahak.

"I am going to ze Briefing. You have ze Bridge. If you pick up anyzing, alert us immediately." She nodded at the Vulcan before heading to the Conference room.

Katcha entered the Conference Room and saw she was one of the last to arrive.

"Velcome back Admiral." She said before taking her seat.

"Aye, ma'am." Mahak said. He could have logged off of his station to take the captain's chair, but decided it was in poor taste. Instead, he resolved to hold things down from the Operations console. Another man might have, out of some sense of self-importance or as a lark, but it was not in Mahak to make such a gesture.

And here Kintiss thought he might be able to get some work done. All these conferences and meetings were only hampering his productivity when it came to paperwork. He was just lucky he had good assistants like Dr. Cottle to delegate it to while the Captain kept him busy.

Instead of checking in at Sickbay first, he went straight up to the conference room. As he sat down, it just occurred to him that it had been too long since his last dose of caffeine.

[Conference Room]

Kali's eyes widened then narrowed down at the PADD the admiral put on the table. After the interrogation, the hack failure, and then the blackout, she didn't think there would be compensation - only reprimand. It rendered her speechless. Then she picked it up.

Persons of interests. It even looked like an authentic copy. She took her own PADD of the data fragments she managed to pick up from the base and compared the two. Sure enough, Kirok's copy not only matched, but filled the rest of the blanks. Most of the people on it didn't register to her but a few did.

One mentioned Gray without much surprise, but her eyebrows popped up when her father's file was on the record. What was he doing on a persons of interest file for the SFI?

"I... wow!" She covered her shock and grinned warmly at him. "This really made my day, Admiral. Thanks. Really!"

[Conference Room]

"You are quite welcome, Ms. Reyes.  It is rare that I get a chance to do something nice for another person, especially when we are at war.  But, it is fortunate and somewhat satisfying that I was able to do so in this case" he replied with a slight dip of his head.

Quote from: Kyan Mackenzie on January 10, 2017, 04:45:14 PM

:: Crew Quarters | USS Discovery ::

It was quiet now. Too quiet. During the past 72 hours, Ellsworth had caught a ride on the ship ferrying the now thawed Admiral Norton to his hew assignment, and so Kyan was without a roommate. Could be worse though. He could be dead... or have a Vulcan for a roommate which was just as bad in his estimation.

BUT!

There was a good thing as well! Since the reassignments, the Discovery had need of an Acting Chief of Security slash Tactical Officer. And given his background, the ole pointy eared Admiral had allowed Kyan to fill the role! He would now get to work on the bridge, AND operate the ship's weapons, AND finally be allowed to carry a weapon again! Of course he had been carrying a weapon the whole time anyhow, but it was a boot knife. Ok... two boot knives and a set of Andorian throwing discs. But the point was that now Kyan would be able to carry a real beam weapon again, which made him immensely happy.

The little Miran looked at himself in the mirror as he passed it. He was of course, unchanged form the last time except for the fact that he now wore the gold undershirt again denoting his department switch. This time though, instead of being a security crewman, he would be the one running the show. Lots of responsibility it was.

"I hope you'll look after me the now Morrigu." he said aloud. "I've a feeling that I'm gunna be needed in this new capacity and I don't wanna be letting my shipmates down. I kinda like some of them afterall, and it would be black sadness indeed if one were to get shuffled off whilst I'm supposed to be in charge of keepin 'em safe.

His short reflection and prayer finished, Kyan drew the pentagram sign in the air and turned away from the mirror. Admiral Kirok was on his way back to the ship and had said that there would be a senior staff meeting in the Observation lounge upon his return. For reason that he didn't quite comprehend fully, he felt as though he didn't want to disappoint the old grup, or everyone else. He'd never really felt like that before. It felt... odd to care what grups might think of him. He want sure he liked it.

Nevertheless though, no time for that now. The little officer had places to be.

~ A few minutes later ~

The doors to the conference room slid open with a soft hiss and Kyan walked through them, surprised to find the Admiral and Chief Reyes already inside.

"Ahh. Merry Met Admiral and Chief! I've come as you said the now, for the staff meeting. AND! I have a security report for you if you be wanting it."

[Conference Room]

Kirok stood when Kyan entered the room.  He offered the man a slight bow.  "Thank you, Mr. Mackenzie.  I will be happy to review it" he said and then gestured to one of the open seats.

"The most recent intelligence reports suggest that Section 31 is in this area of space" he said.  He used a finger to point out the area.  "That will be out next destination" he said.

"Two fighters have been loaded onto the ship.  I will need pilots for both of them.  And we are due to get some additional support from Director Norton, after we arrive" the half Vulcan said looking from Filitov to Kyan, their new Assistant Chief of Sec/Tac.

"We will need to man the TIC to coordinate the attack with our fighters and Norton's ship.  I will leave that to either you Mr. Tekin or you Ms. Reyes.  You can use whatever support staff you need" he added after turning back to them.

"Finally, I have elected to bring aboard a liberated Borg as part of our Engineering Department.  I know this will be a big adjustment for the crew.  But I would like your assistance in helping to smooth the way for him should any resistance come about" he said.

"Questions?  Comments?  Ideas?" the half Vulcan asked.

Kintiss kept quiet, and tried hard not to glare daggers at Kirok. The Captain knew his opinion of the hunt for Section 31. He'd made it clear during the Tarna incident, and it hadn't changed since.

Still, he was a doctor first, and he was probably needed to treat the injured that would inevitably come from this fight.

"With my tactical credentials, I'd lead the TIC into an asteroid," Kali reasoned with a grimace. "I'll man the support staff and hold status on the combatants if that's okay with XO." Monitoring life frequencies, pick up distress signals, change a spare tire, all of those she was better off doing than any kind of leadership position.

The Bajoran listened intently, nodding at his commanding officer.  So that is the room he was trying to set up.  Knowing the new information, he would have to make sure the room itself had alterations to assist with the Borg components.  Not to mention that he will probably be fielding a lot of complaints for the moment.  Very few were honestly that trusting of the Borg.

"Aye sir, I can handle it, not to worry.  And I have to agree, I would prefer Reyes on my team." he said, glancing towards her.  He had a few reasons, one of which was her expertise.  Familiarity breeds trust and, in a combat situation, you needed trust quickly.

As Kyan watched and listened, he felt as though there was something that wanted to be said....needed to be said, but no one else probably was willing to say it. But they wouldn't because they were all grups and didn't want to be the one to say it. Then again, maybe it was just him, on account of his "youth" or... something.

No. He decided, it needed to be said, so he spoke up.

"So, what is the plan if our new crewman decides to start assimilating folk? I've been reading up on the Borgs since they first came around and one thing that always seems to happen is that they go a little batty from time to time and start sticking people with their assimilators. Do we have plans for that? And can we get the wee robots out if he sticks them in one of us?"

That was more for the doctors really. Although he shuddered to think of that nightmare scenario where he would be the one to get assimilated and then have to be prone to the tender mercies of their lizard doctor.... or the old Human one. "Should we assign a security monitor to him for the time being, just to make sure he's with us and not the Borg still?" he asked finally.

"Mr. Kimball's neural transceiver has been removed.  He can not receive or send information threw it.  As such, he is acting on his own free will as are the rest of us and has worked under Director Norton for approximately a year now without incident" the half Vulcan explained.

"Well, until the Chemist gets released from Sickbay so you don't blow something else up, would you like to help me with researching the Wells Class ship?" He offered, as he made his way back over to the computer he had originally headed for, upon entering the Lab. "I did discover a little bit about their defensive system, but if anything, that only set me back further than I already was." He hummed, as he began searching for information on the Wells class ship. As the information popped up in front of him, he began cross referencing with what he had already found out about it.

"I'll take care of that," Kintiss spoke up. He figured it was at least prudent to give newcomers to the ship a once-over to make sure they weren't bringing anything dangerous on board, even if they bore all the hallmarks of a current Federation enemy. Of course, Kirok would probably want to know if Section 31 had installed any kind of spying device on Kimball. "If you could ssssend him down to Ssssickbay assss sssssoon asss possssible." Best to get the examination over with before they did anything important.

He nodded, smiling towards Kali at the idea that they would get to work together.  Kyan brought up a good point, one that he didn't want to think about, mostly because his first thought always went to Ruthie.

"I could make sure we take every precaution possible, but I think the stigma is what will be the biggest issue." he said, sighing.  This was going to be hell for him.

"Too many have suffered by the Borg, and many more have been introduced to the Borg as the boogeymen of our time.  I don't want to restrict his movements, but it will take time for the crew to adjust."
