Tekin Nevir

[Reception - Ashalla, Bajor]

It was certainly a time of change.  Hrafn had informed him of an injury to her person, and that she was offered (and accepted) a position on Bajor as their top Linguistics expert.  It was ideal, as she was becoming more and more concerned about raising twin children in a high demand job that Starfleet was.  Also.. there seemed to be another little Trillish Bajoran on the way.  So when the Discovery docked at DS9, Nevir was more than happy to disembark and await the Phoenix.  Until he found out that the ship was destroyed and the survivors were on their way to DS9.

What could have been a dark day turned out mostly well in the end.  Hrafn survived, as well as the twins, but their aid Evie did not.  It was bittersweet, and all the more reason for Hrafn to accept the job on Bajor.  She was find, her unborn child was fine, just a bit scratched.

The twins were now with their grandparents while Ruthie was able to spend time with her mother, meanwhile Nevir was grateful to not only be on Bajor again, but in the presence of the leaders... and the Kai.  He had been trying to find a way to give his greetings, but so far, things have been insane.  For the moment, he left Hrafn talking with some other officials while he moved over toward Kachina, noting immediately how she was in a guard position.  He casually adjusted his uniform and took an offered flute of Spring Wine.

"Evening Ms Filitov.  How do you like my home planet?"

Kacha saw Nevir aproach and nodded in greeting to him.

"Good evening Mr Tekin. Vot I have seen of Bajor I have liked. Unfortunately I have had little chance to see ze temples or ozzer sites of interest. Ve have been busy since ve arrived. I am hoping to have some time before ve depart, but I am not hopeful. How is Hrafn and ze Children? I have not seen zem since our arrival." She asked, trying to make polite conversation while keeping watch on the door.

Kirok

[Bajor Reception - Behind the Stage Room]

Kirok looked from the Kai to the Orb.  He had all but given up on religion.  And now he was face to face with someone who was the polar opposite.

The dichotomy did not escape the half Vulcan.  Typically he would have politely declined an invitation to interact a mystic object.  But he had just lost his ship and 745 souls on her.

And he had just declared war with the remaining members of Section 31.  A secretive and merciless group who seemed to feed off of revenge.  So, he needed every opportunity offered to him.

"Thank you" Kirok finally said.  He stepped closer to the object and looked back to the Kai.  "I am unaccustomed to interacting with such objects.  Could you instruct me" he added.

The Kai simply smiled and bowed her head silently.  Expecting the half Vulcan to follow suit.  When he did, she opened the enclosure around the Orb of Wisdom and revealed a bright light.

Kirok lifted his eyes and was immediately transfixed by the object.  His mind started racing with images and ideas.  The Wells ship, the Badlands, an hideout, an enemy camp, and a man name EQ Kimball.

Unsurprisingly, Mahak was not a party animal.

He stood ramrod straight, like a bullet on end, a chilled glass of water in one hand as he studied the proceedings. Mourning, celebration, mingling...these were concepts that meant nothing to him.

However, he had worked with humans for long enough to realize that they needed occasions such as these. Humans in Starfleet were exceptional at working under pressure and keeping their emotions in check. But existing in this condition for too long was taxing on them.

The concept of rudeness did not exist to most Vulcans, but it would have been cruel and illogical of him to point out the futility of these proceedings to his new shipmates. Besides, he had to report in, anyway. He sought the highest ranking officer, and found one.

The young Vulcan put his glass onto a nearby table and approached the lieutenant commander in blue.

"Sir, crewman Mahak reporting." His voice was bland, but underneath it was some steel, too. "I have been transferred from the Starbase Columbus to the Operations department."

[Bajor - Reception]

With the Discovery docked at Deep Space 9, the crew had been invited to a small reception on Bajor.  The current crew needed to meet their temporary Commanding Officer, Admiral Kirok, and a few of the surviving members of the Phoenix crew.  The handful that had survived the recent destruction of their ship at the hands of some time traveling Section 31 members.

The Bajor government had thoroughly analyzed the contaminated dirt Kirok had brought back from Tarna.  They too had concluded that the Cardassians could not have been involved with the massacre of the Bajoran colonist there.  And now firmly believed that members of Section 31 had perpetrated the crime.

As such, the Bajoran government has prepared a lavish reception in celebration of this truth finally coming to light.   So, in addition to the crew, several members of Bajoran government and the Kai were in attendance.  In addition, the Cardassian Ambassador was also there with a small delegate of Cardassian dignitaries.

"This is a great day for Bajor and Cardassia" the Bajoran Kai said for a platform.  "The carnage at Tarna was wrongly placed at the hands of Cardassians.  But now, thanks to our friends in Starfleet, we know that that was not true.  May we all move forward in peace and harmony.  Blessings to all" she said to conclude her speech.

[Bajor - Reception]

Lennox was standing amongst his crew and crowd conjugated to mourn the dead. His back was straight, head up and looking at the Kai who made the speech, taking in every word. It was an occasion for a good scotch, but he opted for water instead. It was the first time he had visited Bajor, certainly an exciting opportunity to have a look around the planet before the event ended.

"You have a very sad tree," Kali said cheekily. "And I bet you'd have more warm biobeds if you just smiled every once in a while - and this is me totally not projecting here." She flashed a smile at a Cardassian dignitary that passed by. He greeted her with a reciprocating, if not flirtatious one back. "See?"

He walked around, finding that the medical chief and Reyes seemed to be having a rather interesting, albeit flirty (from Kail's end, more so) conversation as a Cardassian diginitary passed by. Lennox approached them, giving Klablax a short nod.

"How are te both o' ye?"

"Indeed." he said, still not cracking his emotional shield. He thought back to when he was fresh faced and wide eyed. He hadn't always been this sullen. He shrugged off that thought. He did his duty. He'd also avoided facing it, and rather effectively. He almost looked at the spoonhead that passed by, but did not. "Sickbay is avoided like the plague, it matters little the temperature of the beds." he said, sounding very much vulcanesque when he said that. It was true, though. The only people who enjoyed sickbay wore medical blue, and even then sometimes not.

"Crewman Ainsley." he said, nodding back. It wasn't much, saying the crewman's name, but it was surprising nonetheless. Unlike his postings during the war, with crew changes all the time or too many deaths to be personally attached, it seemed that Klabax had finally taken the time to learn everyone's name on the ship- at least, those who needed to visit sickbay soon. Nonetheless, the mixture of so many starfleet uniforms was an uncommon sight to be sure, especially in dress uniform.

Think the new brass would appreciate the turbolift out of maintenance for a couple hours? Couches are pretty heavy."

When the Ord of Wisdom experience complete, Kirok put his hand against the wall to steady himself.  He had experience similar sensations via mind meld.  But those were typically exchanges of information, not an overloading of the senses directed at him.

"You have been blessed by the Orb" the Kai said somewhat proudly.  She closed the doors that encased the Orb.  "We should rejoin the others, when you are ready" she prompted.

Kirok closed his eyes and took in a few breaths.  His mind and body calmed down.  But he know he would be untangling the vision for days to come.

"Proceed" the half Vulcan replied.  The Kai lead him out of the room.  The emerged side by side in the main room again as Mahak was reporting in.

Nevir gave a smile, turning to watch the others as he shrugged.  "I hope you do get the chance.  We make the Vatican on Earth look like a small village.  But such is the life of Starfleet." he said, shaking his head.  Her comment about Hrafn cause him to glance at her form, speaking with someone else this time.

"For once, its not me who cheated death... its an interesting feeling.  We lucked out, but Evie was not so lucky.  Honestly, we were already considering what to do about raising children.. but apparently the Phoenix answer that for us.  Hrafn got a position here exploring Bajor's ancient history.  You wouldn't believe how much was lost during the Occupation.  And now that we have the blessing of the Prophets, many more sites can be explored.  Ruthie is going to stay with me to learn... she's catching up on education and wants to go into Starfleet."

"Kai, it is an honor to meet you." the Bajoran said, tryin not to be starstruck as it where.

She watched the interaction with Nevir with interest, it speared that they were on close terms. She looked at the Admiral again and saw that she was not going to get the time to explore the planet. He had a zip in his step and experience told her that they would be off soon.

That familiar pinch on his ear, one given to him by many other religious leaders before, felt different.  It certainly felt more powerful, if not forceful, and Nevir could swear he could feel her own Pagh coming off her.  There was definitely a reason why she was selected as the Kai of Bajor.

"Of course, Kai.  It is my duty to my ship to ensure the Command structure stays intact.  I know the Prophets will walk with me as they will my family." he said, standing up after she was done with his pagh.

"However, it is great to return home from time to time."
