[Neural Core]

T'Prina inwardly cringed, hearing the report of damage to Ops and casualties. It seemed Doctor Naira had finished with her scans and it was time to begin. Her fingers hesitated over the controls and she put a hand to the pendant she wore under her uniform. 'Nam-tor muhl, t'hy'la.' She would never say the words aloud, particularly not to whom she had in mind. It was enough for her however, to keep in her thoughts. Resolve strengthened, she began the download process.

It pinched in a way, a sharp pain she had not anticipated. Her body language never changed, but the intensity spiked the cortical monitor momentarily. She could still hear the conversations around her, but the room seemed to blur, and she couldn't focus on the words. Gradually she became aware of other 'voices' calling out in streams of code and numbers, lights flashing painfully and discordant. If this was how Analyn saw the Starbase, it was obvious why she was overwhelmed. The AI needed to be shown how to bring order to the chaos in order to function properly.

The Vulcan squinted her eyes against the bright flashes, and focused her thoughts. In her mind, she imagined a large room with a resplendent model castle. She thought that might get the child's attention, given her fascination with princesses. The AI appeared as if on cue.

"Mamapwina, you came to play and bwought me a pwesent?" Analyn clapped delightedly as she walked around her new castle. It looked just like something out of a fairy story. She changed her own dress into a poofy pink tulle and T'Prina's uniform to a regal purple ballgown.

"I hope you will find our game fun and educational. We haven't much time left." T'Prina spread open the castle to reveal the inner rooms, like a child's dollhouse. However, instead of little thrones and beds, each compartment inside contained part of the Starbase, the Promenade, the Engine Rooms, Living Quarters, etc. "Starbase Columbus is your castle, Analyn. Each room here has all the information organized for you." The model showed in real time, crew members, civilians rushing around trying to repair and clean up. The corners of her mouth turned down slightly as she saw the damage done to Ops, and those who were lost. "Everyone here depends on you, to help them and to keep them safe. I know it is a very large job, but you are capable of it, and so much more. I am here to give you my guidance, so you may better grasp your responsibilities."

Analyn considered this for a moment before nodding with a cheery grin. The child tugged on the Vulcan's sleeve bringing her down to eye level, before putting both small hands on T'Prina's temples, mimicking the placement of the neural link cables. Information travelled both ways simultaneously, the speed and intensity, causing T'Prina to cry out suddenly from pain and slump forward slightly in the Neural Core.

"Neural Link complete. Effecting All Systems Analysis and Repairs Protocol." A strange, mixed voice came from both T'Prina's mouth and Analyn's comm channel. "Full Power to be restored momentarily. We apologize for all inconveniences."

Ch'pok walked over to Dr. Naira and placed his hand on her shoulder. He showed her his support by sharing his strength. Though they had not got off to a great start in Sickbay, he very much respected her now. He was also aware of how crucial she was to the success of what was to come. Though he did not exactly understand what was about to happen, he assumed that it was the most logical course of action.

"They were not prepared. After we are triumphant, we shall keep the predators away on their journey."

[Neural Core]

Naira wasn't all that familiar with all the finer points of Klingon spirituality, but she knew that they held the honored dead in high esteem. There was no more honorable way to die than to do so while preforming their duties to the best of their abilities in a time of great distress. While she didn't understand what he meant by keeping predators away, the sentiment behind it brought a momentary smile to her face.

Naira continued to monitor Lieutenant T'Prina throughout the entire ordeal. The cordical monitor spiked each time the Vulcan was hit with a new wave of pain, but looking at the woman you wouldn't have been able to tell. The Vulcan had sat through the ordeal in what looked to be a calm and meditative state while all the while being exposed to an intense level of pain that Naira was sure would kill just about anyone else.

More than once, she was tempted to pull the woman out or administer something to dull the pain. However, she feared that in doing either of those that she could inflict further damage upon the woman. That was, until the lieutenant suddenly cried out in pain and slumped forward.

For a moment, the readings on the monitor were off the chart. She pulled out her tricorder once again and scanned the woman. She reached for a cordical stimulator and a hypospray, bringing them to the woman's neck.

Then, she spoke to them.

"Lieutenant, are you still in there? I want to disconnect you. I'm not liking what I'm seeing in these reading."

Knox held her breath as to not disturb the silence whilst all watched on for something, anything to happen. Though, the Doctor and McKinson were clearly just as focused on their roles in making sure that all went smoothly for T'Prina.

Information travelled both ways simultaneously, the speed and intensity, causing T'Prina to cry out suddenly from pain and slump forward slightly in the Neural Core.

Knox wanted to run to help her, to do something to help her. Though Ch'pok held his arm out to prevent her from doing so. She hated him at that moment.

"Neural Link complete. Effecting All Systems Analysis and Repairs Protocol." A strange, mixed voice came from both T'Prina's mouth and Analyn's comm channel. "Full Power to be restored momentarily. We apologize for all inconveniences."

She did it.

"An AI apologizing. I find it disconcerting."

"Lieutenant, are you still in there? I want to disconnect you. I'm not liking what I'm seeing in these reading."

Knox realized that it was not over just yet. She looked over to McKinson for the Neural Core energy readings to gage what was happening, but agreed with the Doctor that it was time to disconnect the link between Analyn and T'Prina. She nodded in agreement.

Her mind refocused on the situation in Ops and the Captain. Though not for long as Ch'pok spoke softly to her.

"When will it be?"

"When shall what be?"

"Our wedding."

Knox laughed.

[ Neural Core ]

Jenna gave a slight nod to Naira when everything began to be prepped. She took a deep breath and began to zone everything out. This was not going not be easy, but she pushed whatever fuzziness she felt away. This was about the base and she was going to do her damnedest to make sure the meld ran smoothly. It needed to.

She kept an eye on her PADD, accessing the backdoor she programmed earlier. She used this is establish a baseline. Thanks to her quick thinking, she got access to more than she should have. However, she would use this mainly for deeper scans than normally be allowed. However, this was not a normal situation.

Her eyes widened each spike that she noticed. However, it didn't seem to be effecting systems. If anything, things were normalizing. It was an anomaly to say the least. "Readings are off the charts, but holding. No need to be alarmed just yet,"Jenna said in an informative manor.

Caleb was looking with Jenna. It was at that moment she appreciated being of two minds. The spikes were worry some, but she hoped she didn't need to make the call to pull the plug on the Analyn. "It's never easy to make that call," She heard Caleb say in her mind. "Just remember T'Prina is living and the Analyn is a program. You may not be a doctor, but she is in your care. So is all the base."

"Systems are leveling. We aren't out of the woods, but this is some good news. On a different note, I found some programs we could use in the future. I'm detecting a trionic wave signature coming from the lithium microfilament filters. Jeeze what else can go wrong?"Jenna said and then she cursed herself for saying that.

"Neural Link complete. Effecting All Systems Analysis and Repairs Protocol." A strange, mixed voice came from both T'Prina's mouth and Analyn's comm channel. "Full Power to be restored momentarily. We apologize for all inconveniences."

Jenna breathed a sigh of relief. It was then she realized she had the gloves of her exosuit still on. They were beginning  to bother her so she took them off. When she did, she saw a familiar silver snake ring wrapped around her right ring finger. She then smiled. "Don't strip it all away T'Prina,"Jenna thought.

"I always try to be true to who I am and just be myself."

[Sickbay]

Dr. Lunn sighed. He was used to difficult patients. But difficult commanding officers were the absolute worst.

"Captain, I really must protest." The half-Betazoid and half human said. He held up an instrument, only to have it batted away.

"You are not well. You're still suffering from ebullism slightly. Not to mention the effects of being in space for nearly half a minute."

"I once survived in space without protection for nearly a full minute." Adeyemi replied. "I am needed."

"You will require complete dermal regeneration unless you want your skin healing on its own, a process that will take months." The Doctor said. "Now hold still."

"Doctor, put that dermal regenerator down. That's an order."

"Captain! I do have the authority to relieve you."

"You are not Chief Medical Officer."

"I can--"

[Sickbay]

"There, you see? It's over." Lunn and Adeyemi were both middle aged, but unlike the captain the doctor was a bit overweight and had a nice smile. He turned it on Adeyemi now.

The captain had passed out.

"Now hold that pose for twenty minutes, cap," Dr. Lunn cracked, holding up the dermal regenerator and cackling gleefully.

[K'tomoc]

The K'tomoc assisted the other nearby ships in retrieving any bodies they could find. Those that they found were beamed aboard and the dead were treated with the utmost respect.

"Where was the breach located? How many do we have? I need to see them."

The general had been pacing the bridge since he got the report of bodies being sucked out into space. He growled, pounded his fist against a pamel, barked orders at his crew and stormed off to inspect the bodies for himself.

[Neural Core]

"Lieutenant, are you still in there? I want to disconnect you. I'm not liking what I'm seeing in these reading."

[Neural Core]

The combined voices spoke again, only for those in the Neural Core. "Procedural and Organizational Protocols have been updated. We will begin the disconnect process. An abrupt severing will negatively affect biological components."

A status bar appeared on the monitor, tracking the progress of the separation. The strain of maintaining the link began to take a more physical toll on the petite Vulcan. As more of her senses returned inward, the pain sensors spiked again, and she cried out. After what seemed like eternity, Analyn spoke again.

"The pwocess is complete. Pwease take care of Mamapwina. She dis'gaged the safety features before our link. I did not know 'nuff then to stop her." The childish voice of the AI returned, though she seemed somewhat more calm and reserved than before. T'Prina appeared unconscious, still attached monitors and cables, unwillingly curled into a prone semi fetal position.

Analyn once again appeared in the Neural Core. She still assumed the form of a child, although this time she wore a Starfleet uniform with bubblegum pink collar and pips shaped like crowns. Her long brown hair was held back with a pink and white headband and appeared to have small pointed Vulcan ears attached. "Pwease let me know how I can help you. I want to make up for the naughty things I did."
