Nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you, the El-Aurian couple echoed as the young woman left them.

Alec and Aryn procured chairs and also sat, making a small triangle of space between them and their countryman, as it were.

We live here, actually, Aryn began. I'm Aryn Corliss, lieutenant in Starfleet and Chief of Operations of this station.

And I'm Alec Trenzal, husband to Aryn and civilian doctor in the station's infirmary. Welcome aboard. What brings you here? Are you acquainted with the happy couple? Alec gestured toward Greg and Brooke.
[Dr. Dugris "Doug" Zaman - Puzzles]

"To be honest, I've never met them before," Doug replied. "I'm a civilian consultant on the Shran, and Captain Ellis extended an invitation to me. I do enjoy a good party, so I came."
Doug wasn't sure why the Captain had cast such a wide net, but he wasn't complaining.

"How long have the two of you been here?" he then asked, reflecting on the tendency of their people to settle down and pick up seemingly haphazardly.

"You're welcome", he smiled back at her. When she commented she remembered that suit he looked down on himself before glancing back at her, one of his boyish grins tugging at his lips. "Do you?", he smirked. He had noticed back then that she had enjoyed seeing the suit on him, so he went for the same again.

When Felicity choked on her drink Peter rested a hand on her shoulder in alarm but luckily she seemed to recover of her own. The old lady commented him being easy on the eyes and Felicity confirmed that - it felt good.

"My name is Peter", he introduced himself to the old lady. "A pleasure to meet you, your honor." He wasn't sure why she was referring to the old lady like this. Then he assumed the lady might be mentally ill and be one of Felicity's patients. She probably wanted her to refer to her like that, so Peter went with it.

He then followed the conversation as the ladies mentioned that Hawke again and that there was something between Felicity and the Commander. Peter's brows furrowed the slightest bit. So that Cmdr. Hawke was here? And what was Felicity's past with him?

"Is he invited?", Peter asked Felicity, casually though ne watched her attentively.
[NPC - The Hon. Judge Estelle Roth (Ret.) - Puzzles]

Estelle extended a wizened old hand to shake that of the young man - Peter.
"Judge Estelle Roth," she introduced herself. "Retired, as it is. I take it you've already met Professor Eastman, Judith? She's my granddaughter, son."

Estelle was pretty sure she was the oldest human on the station, and she wanted to hammer that point home.

"Well, not rebound, if you say so, but what is it between you two? Just casual fucking, or more of a relationship?"

Estelle vaguely noted the woman about Judith's age who stood with Felicity, but she had her goals, her mission. She had to catch up with 6 or so months of Felicity Ellis, and all the details, societal convention be damned!

[Dr. Antoinette Ellis & Felicity Ellis - Puzzles]

The corners of Felicity's mouth flicked upwards as Peter introduced himself, picking up the honorific immediately. She hadn't been quite so quick herself, but it wasn't a mistake she was bound to make twice. Estelle wasn't exactly easily forgotten. She felt something that felt suspiciously akin to pride at how easy it was for him to hold his own in the tank of sharks.

But then the conversation about Hawke continued. When Peter asked if he'd been invited, Felicity frowned slightly herself, thinking back to earlier in the day. "Yes, I invited him when he welcomed us off the Shran."

"Oh, wonderful." Antoinette was eyeing her daughter and this Peter over the rim of her champagne flute as she took a sip. Felicity was sure the woman was just pretending to drink it. "I am looking forward to another of the Commander's special conversations. He's quite fond of you Felicity, you know." Then to Estelle she turned. "He once took me aside to sing her praises. Antoinette Ellis by the way, pleased to meet you."

With the shock of her mother finding a potential ally in Judy's grandmother, Felicity almost missed the casual f-bomb. Almost. There was nothing quite so bizarrely entertaining as hearing an elder curse so offhandedly. She was glad she hadn't been drinking this time, because she would definitely have choked again.

"Well?" Antoinette asked, very interested in the answer.

Felicity, cheeks burning, glanced at Peter and then back at the sources of her new nightmare. There were two of them now. "We're friends," she deadpanned.

Lame.

[Brooke & [Lucas Reynolds - Puzzles]

The sensation of Greg whispering in ear, was something that caused a similar effect to whenever he touched her and she always enjoyed when he did that. Still the future Mrs Ellis, couldn't stop smiling at not only his words but with the way he then slid his arm around her waist, keeping her safe and close. " I also have to admit, that Jem Sparkles and Lea were in on it, in fact the singing was Jem's idea, but I agree it was worth the wait and now you finally have me here".

As the couple then moved through the crowd and stopped to speak to friends, Lucas decided that he wanted to be the first to see his daughter and son in law, having watched everything from his spot, near the far end of the bar. Judging by the look of pride as he approached, he had enjoyed the performance as much as everyone else.

" There they are, my daughter, the talented singer and my soon to be son in law" he announced as he stopped in front of them. " Allow me to be the one, to congratulate you again".

" Thanks Dad" Brooke replied as she looked to Greg then her Father, happy to have Lucas here to share this time with them.

[Gregory Ellis - Puzzles]

"Why does that not surprise me?" He asked with good-humour when Brooke revealed her co-conspirators. It was true, the three of them had been thick as thieves in the run up to the party. Greg had assumed they were planning alright, but nothing quite like the performance he'd just seen. When Lucas Reynolds approached he extended his hand to clasp the other man's in a handshake. Not for the first time he was relieved that Brooke's father was as laid-back and convivial as he was.

When it came to in-laws, he was afraid Brooke would not be so lucky.

"Thank you, Captain," he said to Lucas with a grin, before returning his arm to wrap around Brooke's shoulders. He gave her a quick squeeze, and asked her father, "I assume you knew this one had a few hidden musical talents, or were you as shocked as I was?"

Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.'

[Apartment- Puzzles]

He took a moment to walk a few extra blocks before he went to the party, which was totally what he expected....noisy, stuffy, too many people and the whole ordeal.
Nevertheless he tried to put on a neutral face and look for Lea in the crowd.

[Professor Emeritus Judith Eastman-Williams & Max Williams - Puzzles]

"The real way to distract my grandmother is to give her another victim," Judy observed philosophically. "Do something scandalous, say something outrageous. I can teach Max how to act out a heart attack."
Max chuckled at the wacky suggestion, but his gaze briefly wandered around the room. He came upon Fells, who looked like he was definitely trying, and also searching. Max understood that feeling - he himself could only really appreciate these events with Judy at his side.
"Lea, it looks like someone is looking for you," he told his longtime friend and boss, pointing out her boyfriend. "We can take care of the drinks."

Max had a feeling that Fells needed Lea just like he needed Judy, but at the same time, he knew that the genteel Academic and the blunt security man were not the best combination. They had conflicting styles and personalities, and not much common ground. This was the way to go.

[Leanna - Puzzles]

The observation that Judy then made about Estelle, almost caused Lea to chuckle, however found herself agreeing with her, although would feel sorry for whoever she targeted next. However at her next comments, which also involved teaching Max to have a heart attack, it was definitely extreme but hoped it wouldn't come to that.

" Let's hope we don't have too, although I'm sure Estelle will find someone or something without our help".

When Max then pointed out and mentioned that was someone looking for her, Lea looked to where he was pointing and smiled as she saw Fells. Wondering what had changed his mind, but at the same time, appreciated him being here, even though it wasn't easy for him. " Thanks Max, I'll catch up with you both soon, but I definitely need to go see him".

Leaving her friends, Lea quickly sought out Fells and smiled as she reached out to take his hand. " Hey Babe, this is a nice surprise".

Brooke couldn't help but grin at Greg's comment, knowing she wouldn't be able to play innocent as he knew her far to well for her to deny it. Brooke smiled and again couldn't deny it, because her Dad had a knack for being right, okay sometimes he wasn't despite convincing himself, but on this occasion, he was. Blushing slightly, she then admitted it, " You're right Dad, it is and the confidence, he's given me to push myself out of my comfort zone".

"The pleasure is mine," Estelle answered Antoinette - Felicity's mother, perhaps?

And then came the younger Ellis with a very disappointing answer. Estelle had a hard time believing the duo was just friends - it didn't check out.
"If you're just friends, then I'm a fucking lobster," she asserted. "We can leave you two friends to your friendship, can't we?"

Pivoting slightly away from the two, she addressed Antoinette personally.
"She's a peculiar one, isn't she?" she asked. "Daughter, sister, niece?"
The middle option in that question was included mostly as flattery. Estelle could play the game when she cared to, as infrequently as that was.

"Don't feel any rush on our account," Judy told Lea as she left.
Then, Max picked up the tray of drinks, before Judy could, and they began to walk back.

Noting that Estelle still hadn't made her exit, they instead navigated towards the crowd, and came upon Brooke, Greg, and a man who looked 10 - 20 years younger than the Eastman-Williamses themselves.

"You know you can't escape us, Greg, so why try?" Judy asked jokingly, announcing their arrival. "Care for a nice, strong drink? It would've helped you more earlier, but better late than never."
Neither of them had any intent of supplementing the wait staff, but here they were.
Max, in turn, addressed the others.
"Congratulations, Brooke. You look gorgeous," he said. Then, he offered a handshake to the other gentleman.
"I don't think we've met before. I'm Max Williams, and that's my wife Judy. We're friends of both sides."
The fact that Judy felt no need to interject with her double-barreled last name, or any title, gave Max a measure of joy.

Aryn nodded her understanding. Oh, yes. Flick is Greg's sister, so it makes sense that she'd do some inviting. She had to pause and think for a moment before she could answer Doug's question. Her lifetime of returned memories had scrambled some of her more recent ones and she was still sorting through everything. I was assigned to the station, umm, a little over a year and a half ago. Alec arrived just over a year ago. Aryn's brow furrowed as she glanced at Alec for confirmation.

A couple months more, he confirmed. We had a bit of a...rocky time for the last ten years or so. We were separated and I was held captive. Aryn had almost total amnesia. She actually only just recovered all of her memories.

So if I seem a little out of it, that's the main reason, she said with a laugh. My brain is still a little scrambled.

"Oh, yes, I've met Judy Eastman once before today. A pleasant person to be with and she's amazing with children."

When the conversation then briefly turned to that Hawke guy, Peter listened as Felicity and her mother Antoinette were talking about him. So he was invited, chances were good Peter could take a look at the man. Antoinette seemed to like him and was mentioning that Hawke was fond of Felicity. He didn't have a reason to but he now already didn't like the guy.

As Estelle spoke up again Peter faltered when she casually used that word in that sense of the meaning. Raising his eyebrows he suppressed an amused chuckle at the old lady's bluntness.

Since the question was directed at Felicity, Peter pointedly turned to look expectantly towards her, waiting for what her answer would be. When she looked back at him he held her gaze, confident enough to look right back into her eyes, a soft smile touching his mouth.

'Friends'. Well, there was nothing wrong about that. He really didn't expect her to go into the complicated parts of their relationship.

"Yes, we're friends", Peter confirmed, turning back to Estelle and Antoinette. "Are we making a different impression?", he asked teasingly.

The mass of people was disorienting, much more than any Tribble situation or crawling around in the ships vents. Fells simply hated being amongst too many people. So he stayed focused and was glad when Lea spotted him and greeted him.
With a kiss he replied. "I'm changing one disturbing situation for the next." He was only being honest. "Your mom is spoiling Ari to no end and is trying to give me advice on kids....I had to get out of there."

Together they made their way into the sea of people, where the Petty Officer spotted some familiar and many unfamiliar face. Then he passed a guy talking to Flick. He was young, good looking, friendly...possibly a good match for her. So Fells took it upon himself to greet Leas best friend with a friendly hug, which he usually wouldn't do, and then overheard him saying something nice about Judy, which only made him mutter.
"Yeah, so pleasant..."

Neither Estelle nor Antoinette seemed to be buying it, and she couldn't really say she blamed them. But at Peter's almost amused demeanor and his teasing tone, she turned on him with some surprise. Was he actually enjoying this? There she was, cheeks flaming, struggling under the intense scrutiny of two very intense women, and Peter was as cool as a bloody cucumber.

She was kind of impressed. And she too was wondering what impression exactly they seemed to be making. Was there something apparent or obvious? Or did people just start wagging their tongues as soon as she stood next to a man? "Having fun?" She asked him innocently, her brow arched and her expression curious. Felicity, in response to Estelle's annexing of her mother, threw back the rest of her whiskey in one generous swallow.

It was then that Fells appeared, and greeted her with a friendly hug. She wasn't sure they'd ever actually hugged before, but the surprise of the move was mild in comparison to the madness that had been flung at her so far that evening, and if it was a show of support, she'd definitely happily take it. "Fells, hey! You're here!" She said when she pulled back, then smiled at Lea as she arrived next to him. "This is Peter by the way," she told him, gesturing to her 'friend'. "Peter, this is Fells, Lea's boyfriend. He's in Sec/Tac here on SBC."

Belatedly, she wondered if 'boyfriend' was an acceptable term for the pair, and hoped she hadn't offended anyone. This whole relationship term thing was a minefield.

"Daughter," Antoinette responded with a well-practiced put-upon sigh. "She was never quite so coy as a child." Antoinette gave her shoulders an elegant shrug, as though she'd long since given up trying to understand her daughter.

"So tell me, Your Honor, what is all this about Commander Hawke and Felicity during the summer? And future versions of themselves? It sounds quite bizarre, you're quite right, but perhaps it could be useful."

[Gregory Ellis - Puzzles]

"Sorry, sir - Lucas," Greg chuckled at his own apparent inability to call Brooke's father by anything other than a title, "It's a habit of a career, unfortunately." When the two of them started giving him way too much credit for Brooke's performance that evening, he shook his head, very keen to lay responsibility at his fiance's feet.

"That's all you, soet. But if my hanging around encourages more of it, then I'm happy to be here." His eyes crinkled in the corners as he grinned down at her, and then up at Judy at their arrival. "I wouldn't dream of it!" He responded with a twinkle in his eye when Judy proclaimed that he couldn't escape.

At her offer of a strong drink, he would of course accept. "I'll take whatever I can get. So far, this has been quite an interesting evening." He nodded over toward his mother and Estelle. "I see your grandmother has been networking."

Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.'

[Leanna - Puzzles]

The kiss was very much welcomed and Lea instantly reciprocated it, before Fells was honest and explained the real reason why he had changed his mind. She knew what her Mum could be like so it wasn't too much of a surprise and whilst Aya would of meant well, understood his need to leave.
" It'll be okay and I understand, she can be a bit overwhelming sometimes but I don't blame you for wanting to get out". she replied, before they made their way back to Flick and the others. When Fells then greeted Flick with a hug, she knew it wasn't like him, but appreciated his attempt to be more friendly. However it became apparent that things hadn't exactly improved a lot since she had left, other than Estelle now talking directly with Antoinette.

Deciding to focus on the important people in her life, as Fells commented about Judy, glad she wasn't around as she smiled back at Flick, before she introduced Fells to Peter and loved hearing the word Boyfriend and hoped the two would get on. Catching something between Flick and Peter but as long as her best friend was happy, then so was she.

" Judy and Max, should be bringing more drinks over, I made sure to get the Bomb Cyclones" she said quietly to Flick, thinking that they would be welcomed after the awkwardness of the conversation.

[Brooke & Lucas Reynolds - Puzzles]

" Not a problem at all, Greg, old habits die hard and something I know all too well" Lucas replied, before Greg then spoke to Brooke, about the praise he had received from both of them. The freighter Captain, appreciated his civility and the way he looked after his daughter, knowing that they would do fine without the need for him to worry.

Brooke, however was enjoying the fact that they were getting on well, as Greg turned to her and grinned, his words permeating through her as he spoke the truth as always. " Me too, my love" she replied softly, knowing that she didn't have to say more, with the look she gave him, before they were joined by Max and Judy. Smiling as Judy spoke to Greg as Max then congratulated and complimented her, before making the introductions with her Dad.

" Thank you, Max".

" Please to meet you both, I'm Lucas, Brooke's Dad"Lucas said happily as he shook Max's hand as Greg spoke with Judy.

His Fiance, wondered what she had missed, judging by the conversation, until she looked over to where he had nodded which made sense, with Estelle amongst the crowd. She knew of Judy's Grandmother, but had only spoken with her briefly. So she squeezed his hand as she then spoke to Max, " Is that a Bomb Cyclone, I spot Max and I wanted to thank you, for your help with the buffet menu".

[Puzzles]

[Dr. Dugris "Doug" Zaman - Puzzles]

"Total amnesia? Oh, my," Doug replied, rather surprised. "That must be seriously discombobulating."

Doug obviously didn't remember a lot of what had happened in the last thousand-plus years, but there was a lot of daylight between normal forgetfulness and total amnesia.

"How did you get the memories back? Was it Federation medicine, or a more traditional approach?"
Not that there was too much of the El-Aurian tradition left to pursue, with their homeworld being no more.

PO2 Peter Dannenberg
[Starbase Columbus - Puzzles Bar]

Peter shook the old ladie's hand and with her being a retired judge, it made sense to be called 'Your honor'. Or so he made himself believe. It was still weird.

[Felicity Ellis - Puzzles]

[Dr. Antoinette Ellis - Puzzles]

[NPC - The Hon. Judge Estelle Roth (Ret.) - Puzzles]

"Yes, Patrick, you are, but you children can carry on," Estelle dismissed Peter's cheeky comment.
Then, she turned back to Felicity's mother.

"I was off the station when it happened, maybe Judith can help explain..." she glanced around, and didn't find the woman in question. "Never mind, she's run off. The details I'd gathered involved her having a child with Hawke and also dying. I guess if we take her word on it, that means her alternate timeline self had a child with Hawke and is now dead. He'd make a great son-in-law, wouldn't he? Handsome, charming, comes from a good household, and judging by his father, he won't lose his hair quite as fast as my son-in-law, Judith's father, did."

And then, Estelle turned her attention to the new entrants to the group.

"That fella over there got into a wrestling match with Hawke once. Think about that gall. I lost six slips betting on Hawke in that fight," she whispered loudly to Antoinette. "Hawke is a much smoother talker than he is a fighter."

[Professor Emeritus Judith Eastman-Williams & Max Williams - Puzzles]

"The pleasure is ours, Lucas," Max answered. "And Brooke, I was happy to help, although I have to give Judy credit for a couple of suggestions."
Brooke's comment on the bomb cyclones, coupled with Greg's comment on Estelle, reminded Judy of what they were intended for.
"We had actually intended to give these to Flick, to save her from... that rather deadly pairing," she said. "Now might be a good time for the two of you to swing by there, while they're distracting each other. You as well, Lucas, provided you're okay with going into warzones."

Judy grabbed the one glass of water from the tray and took a swig from it, silently lamenting her age and health.

Neither, really, Aryn said with a humorous laugh. I tried for a number of years with various methods from many different worlds. I gave up for awhile, until Alec arrived. With his help, I was slowly recovering a memory here and there, but not everything.

It was actually Flick, Commander Ellis...well a future version of her, that was the catalyst for some reason. We haven't figured out why - maybe chroniton radiation or something - but when I saw her, it all just came flooding back, right in the middle of a crisis.

Alec smiled sadly and added, Because there was a certain sad event in our more recent history that I had avoided telling Aryn about, she was rather understandably angry with me. But Fate, or the Great Bird of the Galaxy, decided this was the time to bless us in a great way. His smile turned to a grin as he reached for Aryn's hand.

She smiled back and pressed a hand to the still small swell of her abdomen. We lost a baby halfway through my pregnancy about fifty years ago, she explained. We're having triplets now. Aryn couldn't help beaming at Alec, and their joy was almost palpable.

"Triplets?" Doug asked rhetorically. "Wow! Congratulations! I've had quite a few children myself, with several different exes, but never three at once. You must be very excited."

Particularly with there being so few El-Aurians left, any new one was big, exciting news. Three at once - that was insane!

"I take it you're both going to be first-time parents?" he then inquired.

Mm-hm, Aryn answered. We were a bit shocked...well, no stunned really, to find out that we're having triplets. It's going to be a challenge, but we have no shortage of willing babysitters and helpers here.

I'm pretty sure there are a variety of betting pools going on in Sickbay already, Alec said with a laugh. Exact birth date, genders, whether I'll go crazy before they're born...

Aryn barked out a surprised laugh and covered her mouth to muffle further giggles. Are they really?

I don't know for sure about that last one, but the others, yes. It's pretty typical, and I don't see any harm in it.

Sobering slightly, Alec asked their new acquaintance, Do you ever get to see any of your children?

[Doug Zaman - Puzzles]

"I'm in touch with most of them, though it's really dependent on the distances. One of my daughters, the eldest, went off on a trek towards the Delta quadrant about 30 years ago. Every now and then, I get a subspace letter, confirming she's still alive and well. They all have the tendency to wander, but we keep in touch. Same goes for some of the exes, the surviving ones."

At this point, a tear crossed Doug's eye.

"I did lose some family: ex-wives, children, my first grandchild, to the Borg. A lot of people lost someone. I think that's the reason I'm still in touch with most everyone else. When we've lost so much, we have to hold on to those we have left."
