[Judy & Max - Puzzles]

Max shook his head at overhearing the interaction between Greg and Antoinette, thinking about how lucky he was that Diane Eastman - though her first question to him was about his, ahem, manhood - wasn't this condescending.
He got back under control quickly, though, as Judy turned to complete the round of introduction.

"You know you can just call me Judy, Peter. Professor Emerita, Retired Lieutenant Commander, Judith Eastman-Williams, lady of Alphabet Soup, is simply too long a title. The others here are Aryn Corliss, chief of Ops, Alec Trenzal, a doctor, and of course the incomparable Max Williams, my beloved husband. Folks, this is Peter Dannenberg, of the Shran."
Max blushed just a little bit at Judy's words, but he was used to it. She loved to show him off because she loved him, and he loved her back.
"How did you meet Judy, Peter?" Max asked curiously. Was it that trade summit he'd heard about?

Peter's face lighted up when Greg introduced himself as Felicity's brother and the groom-to-be and was quick to reciprocate the greeting with a firm handshake. "Right, so you're Greg. Pleased to meet you", Peter smiled. "Weddings can be scary, eh?", he grinned, rubbing the light stubble at his chin that he always wore. "I mean, I have no idea, but I'd be terrified", he jested.

Turning to Judy, who reminded him that he could call her by her first name, went on and introduced them to everyone in their little group. "Nice to meet you", Peter nodded at them.
There was one person though who had been overlooked. The woman who was standing next to Greg. "I believe we haven't met before either, Ma'am", he said to her, hoping to prompt her to introduce herself to him.

At Max' question Peter replied readily. "Judy attended a banquet on the Shran a while ago. She was lovely and Elanii, a little six year old girl from a world named Veloria, was totally crazy for her.

[Gregory Ellis & Dr. Antoinette Ellis - Puzzles]

"Scary is the word I'd use for it, too," Greg said in response to Peter, then shook his head, an expression of disbelief flickering across his face for a quick moment. "Two years ago, I'd have been the same as you said - terrified. But Brooke has changed all of that for me. Even with all of tonight's nerves, I've never been as certain about anything before."

Beside him, his mother sounded like she was choking on a sip of champagne. She was actually making a point, albeit almost rudely, but Antoinette had far too much class to 'snort' with laughter in polite company. When the young, very handsome man beside her took it upon himself to inquire as to her name, she couldn't help but approve. "Manners maketh man." He'd obviously been raised right, unlike the rest of the group, who had omitted her from the round of introductions. "I am Dr. Ellis. But you must call me Antoinette." She bestowed upon him quite the engaging smile, the hint of a dimple appearing on her right cheek.

"Judith mentioned you were from the Shran, Peter. You must know my daughter."

Greg meanwhile, was watching quite closely. His sister had mentioned Elanii excessively over the last few months during their communications, and so as soon as the newcomer had mentioned her, Greg's interest had been piqued, but his attention was pulled in the direction of Puzzles' entryway only moments later.

"Speak of the devil." Greg grinned, and then began to extricate himself from the group. "Excuse me, please. I'll be right back." He beelined for the two women headed toward the bar, and intercepted his sister with a giant bear hug and a warning.

"Come on, monster....we'll play a game and let the ladies go." He kissed Lea goodbye, long and passionately, maybe a little longer than company called for.
Then clapped her bottom in a playful manner. "Off you go. Have fun, godmother in spe." He told Flick and went over to grab a holo board game for Ari.

He was more than happy to stay behind with her but wondered what Lea initially had planned for the id, which was answered a moment later when he mother arrived.
"Why are you still here? Hello Flick! Lovely to see you!" Her mom chirped before she scooped up her grandchild.

"I guess we're playing a game with grandma then." He grinned a little but started to wonder what was worse, playing board games with the competitived grandmother or going to a busy restaurant.

[Lea & Fells' Quarters]

" Well I can't think of anyone better to do spoil him or her, you already spoil Ari and that's what the fun Aunt's and Godmother's get to do" Lea said in response to Flick's comments about her new role. Knowing that their child would have a lot of fun with Auntie Flick as well as a supportive and loving Aunt, which is more than any child could ask for.

Lea also appreciated her best friend's support in regards to Ari, before she mentioned that they should get going. " You're right, we don't want that to happen" she said as Fells then spoke to Ari, before pulling Lea in for a very passionate kiss, which she immediately reciprocated and grinned at his playful pat to her rear.

" I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun".

However as she prepared to leave, they were joined by Lea's mum, who she had completely forget to call to let her know that she might not be needed. Wondering if her appearance would result in Fells joining her after all, especially when he grinned and invited her to play games.

" We're just about to leave Mum" she said then looked at Fells. " You know where we'll be, if you decide to join us".

With that Lea blew him and Ari a kiss, then headed out of the door with Flick.

[Puzzles]

Of course no trip to Puzzles, would be complete about catching up further and Lea loved the fact, that she was getting able to do this with Flick, especially after all of this time. Still walking into the party, arm in arm, Lea smiled as she saw those who had already arrived and had a feeling that it would be one hell of a night. " Wait till you see what Brooke has planned" she said as she led the way into the bar.

[Felicity Ellis - Outside Lea & Fells' Quarters, Starbase Columbus]

Felicity was torn between amusement and faint bewilderment when Fells and Lea started necking in front of her. She arched a brow at the ass slap, and then the mirth spilled out, but she managed to limit it to a snort of laughter. She was almost relieved when Lea's mother arrived. "Aya! Lovely to see you, too!"

When it became evident that they wouldn't be hanging around for more pleasantries, Felicity said a few quick goodbyes. "We'll have to get lunch before I leave, Aya, girls' afternoon." Then to Fells and little Ari she waved happily. "Have fun, kids! Eat a scoop for me. Or ten."

Then, arm-in-arm, she and Lea made the very familiar trip to Puzzles.

[Felicity Ellis & Gregory Ellis - Puzzles]

Walking in with her friend was like coming home in many ways. When Lea mentioned Brooke's plans, Felicity turned her smile on the woman beside her as they made straight for the bar. "I've no doubt it'll be a brilliant night. I can't wait to..."

Her eyes had been wandering. She spied Judy and Max, and Aryn and Alec talking together in a group, along with... Peter! He came. For some reason that made her feel very pleased. She smiled when she spotted him, her eyes softening a little, until she saw who he was speaking to. That was when her voice trailed off.

"My mother is here." She deadpanned. Then after a moment of gaping, she turned to Leanna and reached for her arm. "Lea, my mother. Why is she here."

It was at that moment when a Greg-sized, suited oaf almost rugby-tackled her. He'd barely released her when he started the rapid-fire method of communication the siblings often used when together, their accents strengthening with each sentence fragment uttered.

"Late."

"Meetings."

"Mother is here."

"But -"

"I know."

"So, she -"

"She did."

"Oh, f -"

"Yaya."

Felicity was developing a headache. She needed booze to deal with this. She gestured behind her toward the bar, and Greg nodded. When he turned to Lea he greeted her with a quick, but no less friendly one-armed hug. "Ah, the best friend of my wife-to-be. Shall we celebrate and fortify ourselves with a round of shots before we have to face the dragon?" He didn't mean his fiance.

When Antoinette introduced herself as 'Dr. Ellis' and Peter caught sight of the hint of a dimple it dawned on him to whom exactly he was speaking to. "My pleasure, Antoinette." When she then mentioned he should know her daughter he was certain ot was mother Ellis. "Oh, yes indeed, I know your daughter. She is my commanding officer on the Shran and she does a great job at that." He decides to only mention the professional relationship. If Dr. Ellis knew how well he 'knew' her daughter she'd probably stop smiling like that.

At Greg's exclamation and his quick departure Peter couldn't help but follow the man's way with his eyes - and he caught sight of Felicity. His eyes lingered on her attractive body in that nice black dress a while longer than they probably should before he consciously recognized the other woman and the guy with her who were unknown to Peter. Watching the stormy greeting of the siblings Peter grinned.

[Dr. Dugris "Doug" Zaman - Puzzles]

Doug had researched the area, and he knew of the establishment hosting this party. It was deemed to be infested by officers, despite the quality of the cuisine, which perhaps explained why his captain's brother had his party here.

Now, normally, when invited to a party whose host he didn't know well, and really in general, Doug aimed for a low profile. However, with his date, that wasn't going to be possible, soooo...

Doug went in the exact opposite direction. He was impossible to miss as he and Candy entered Puzzles, not far behind Captain Ellis and another of the impossibly attractive people that seemed to populate this station.

"Do we start by mingling, or with a drink?" he asked his much younger plus-one, when he bumped into a chair. With his hand, he managed to block himself from falling, but the chair traveled several feet.

[ Guest Quarters - McDuo -> Puzzles ]

After a quick bout of showing Lawrie to her favorite music shop on the Promenade, she told him she would like for him to accompany him to the party. It felt odd being back for a small amount of time. She would shake any anxieties she had if that meant seeing some old familiar faces. Though she had been back for some much- needed one on one time with Dr. Eastman and especially seeing her close friend T'Prina, it was Leanna she missed the most. She finished her look and smiled at Lawrie's. She eyed him up admiring him before she got the self-satisfaction that he was all hers. She gave him a peck on the cheek before they departed for Puzzles.  Bash would be taken care of by a baby sitter. Though she wanted Lea to properly be introduced, this was no party for kids. It was nice to have a date night with Lawrie for once.

The two walked in with their hands held. As the familiar surroundings came into view Jenna flashed one of her rare full smiles. Though she was genuinely a happy person, that smile was saved for a few places and moments. Noticing a familiar face from afar, Alex looked over to Sam, Reuben, and Lewis. The four men walked over and caught the attention of Jenna. She mildly gleed in happiness offering each a hug. "My boys it's been ages! Oh, it's so good to see you! Alex, Sam, Reuben, Lewis this is my boyfriend Doctor Lawrie McGellen. Lawrie my love these are the members of Devine Temptation. Not only the wonderful band that performs here at Puzzles on the regular, but they have been my backing band when I used to perform here."

[Puzzles]

"Had me worried for a moment there, but Jenna knows half the Universe so... " Lawrie joked.  "Good to meet you guys, any chance you lot are going to treat us to some singing tonight?!... with this 'Divine Temptation' and vision of loveliness right here?!"

"I don't need a doctor, damn it, I am a doctor!"

Lea listened as Flick answered her, however before she could comment or ask why, she suddenly stopped speaking, the reason soon became apparent, especially as her mood instantly changed and she reached for Lea's arm. The Betazoid immediately turned at the mention of Flick's mother and sure enough there was Antoinette Ellis, stood with some of their friends. " I have ..., her own reply was then cut off as Greg approached and greeted his sister, before the siblings engaged in conversation about the surprise arrival of their Mother.

Having met Antoinette before, it was understandable and had heard enough from Flick, yet immediately felt for them and for Brooke, at having to be in her presence. So when Flick gestured to the bar, Lea didn't blame the siblings at all and smiled when Greg then greeted her with a friendly hug, before suggesting a round of shots, before they faced their Mother again.

Lea immediately reciprocated the hug and smiled, although knew that she couldn't imbibe like she used too. " Yes to celebrating, before we have to go face that particular dragon, although you'll both will have to have my share, doctor's orders so I'm on the non alcoholic stuff".

When she threw it all away last year to be a consultant I was afraid she'd never achieve any tangible success." Antoinette spoke matter-of-factly, with no hint of any sentiment. Then she turned her hawk's eye gaze on Peter.

"Oh, honey, we do both!" Candy exclaimed, her sweet voice with that Southern belle accent travelling far. With a flick of her wrist she summoned one of the floor staff and plucked two champagne flutes from his silver tray with a powerful smile. She felt like Salacia, goddess, deity of the beautiful but dangerous seas. To be looked upon and worshiped.

She was pretty caught up in that thought, so much so that it took her a moment to react to her stately El-Aurian's exuberant clumsiness. "Are you okay, Dougie?" She moved to his side, her dress giving the impression of waves rolling on a shore. At least, that's how she imagined it in her head. She handed him some champagne, though her eyes were already scanning the room, ready to choose where she should go next.

Peter looked at Antoinette, one hand tucked casually in the pocket of his suit trousers. It wasn't hard to miss the lack of sentiment in Felicity's mother, even if he hadn't heard of her before from Felicity. He noted how she tried to badmouth her daughter's occupation before she took over command.

"Oh, I believe the word you were looking for was 'counselor'", he said outright, though offered a smile along with it. "I guess success is something that is measured indivually. Helping others can gain success in a different way. Though, at least her profession as a counselor wasn't hindering her to be promoted to a commanding position."

When asked about himself, Peter replied readily. "I'm a security officer on the Shran. It's my first assignment after my graduation only a couple of months ago. I'm very fortunate that have been assigned to the crew of the Shran." He paused as he looked back at her, not entirely sure how much or what exactly she wanted to know about him.

Before he could inquire on that he felt a light touch at his arm and found Felicity next to him. He turned his head to look at her with a smile, subtly admiring the dress on her for a second. "Hi, good to see you. I already got acquainted to your mother", he pointed out.
As he had turned his head towards her his nose caught the smell of strong alcohol he thought was coming from Felicity and he briefly wondered how much she have had to drink already. It was only then that his gaze fell on the whiskey tumblers she held in her hand. When she offered one to him he took it without hesitation. "Always", he grinned back at her. "Thank you."

He then turned to the two unfamiliar faces that had come with Felicity. "Hi, I'm Peter."

Soon, the potent concoctions arrived, and Greg and Felicity raised their glasses, clinked them together, and knocked them back without any hesitation, though with plenty of shivers. "Oh man, that's gross."

"Hit the spot, though."

Felicity nodded in response, then picked up the two whiskey glasses, squared her shoulders, and prepared for battle. "Shall we, troops?"

When she reached the group, Felicity stopped beside Peter, her arm brushing is. "Hey," she said, a smile in her voice despite what she was walking into, "Something stronger?" She asked, moving to hand him one of the whiskey tumblers.

[Leanna - Puzzles]

In some ways Lea was relieved that Greg was distracted to enquire further as to why she was suddenly teetotal, although did grin back at Flick as she called over one of Lea's staff. In other circumstances the Betazoid would of shared the reason but tonight was all about Brooke and Greg. So it was fun to deflect Greg's attempt to get clues as to what his wife to be was planning, insisting that he would just have to wait and see. It was also interesting when the siblings then knocked back the shots, especially from a sober point of view, as she would of been the first to join in.

Still she was happy enough with her virgin cocktail, as it was decided that they should go and face the inevitable with Antoinette. " Yes, lets get it over with" she said in agreement as she followed them over. Noting how her best friend was with this Peter and would of course, try to find out more when they weren't in her Mother's company.

Although when he introduced himself, Lea smiled as she answered him. " Pleased to meet you, Peter, I'm Leanna, best friend to Flick and Brooke".

From her viewpoint, Lea could also spot Jenna and the band as they started to play, knowing it wouldn't be long before Brooke arrived as she then greeted the others.

[Jem Sparkles - Puzzles]

Jem Sparkles, well renowned Drag Queen, performer, celebrity and business owner, stood just on the edge of the stage, quietly surveying the room, especially as the band took their places and began to play. Smiling to herself over what was about to happen, as she then gave the signal to begin.....

Soon the opening bars to the song that had been specifically chosen for this moment began to play and Jem Sparkles in all of her sparkly glory entered and took her place.

Perfect

Then as planned, she began to sing.

I found a love for me
Darling just dive right in
And follow my lead
Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet
I never knew you were the someone waiting for me
'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love

Not knowing what it was
I will not give you up this time
But darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own
And in your eyes you're holding mine

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight

Jem then paused, allowing the music to continue as she faced the crowd and made an announcement.

" Everyone, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you all, to the Bride to Be" she said happily as Brooke then made her way out onto the stage.

[Brooke - Puzzles]

Her heart was pounding in her chest, mic clutched firmly in her right hand as she moved to join Jem Sparkles. Seeing everyone was both a pleasant and slightly nerve inducing at the same time, until she locked eyes with Greg and she smiled, before she then started to sing.

Well I found a man, stronger than anyone I know
She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I'll share our home
I found a love, to carry more than just my secrets
To carry love, to carry children of our own
We are still kids, but we're so in love
Fighting against all odds

I know we'll be alright this time
Darling, just hold my hand
Be your girl, you'll be my man
I see my future in your eyes

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful
I don't deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight

As the song continued, the two joined forces to sing the final chorus, before it came to a natural finish and both Jem Sparkles and Brooke turned to face their audience. Brooke feeling a sense of exhilaration at not only singing with her favourite Drag Queen but also with what she had just achieved.

[Judy & Max - Puzzles]

As the conversation carried on between Antoinette and Peter, Judy found herself out of the active conversational flow - and that was fine. She shifted a little in her chair, closer to Max, and just listened for a little bit.

Then, the duo's attention was turned to the stage.
Jeffy's performance was lovely - neither the counselor nor the chef could find any fault with it.
Well, Judy could find one fault - she would have liked more of Brooke's talented singing. However, she understood that this was a party, not a concert, and so didn't even mention her desire for an encore.

The 60-year-old grandmother cheered forcefully at the song's end, joined by Max, who was quieter by his nature but no less proud.

"Your lady has quite the set of pipes," Judy turned and told Greg.

[NPC - The Hon. Judge Estelle Roth (Ret.) - Puzzles]

Estelle strode into Puzzles to the last strains of the song, not entirely aware of what had transpired. She saw the duo on the stage, the distinguished gentleman in the garish suit with the young woman - call girl? - and the large clump that included her granddaughter.

It was the last group that she approached, namely a very particular young lady.
"Felicity Ellis, as I live and breathe! I thought you'd died, to be completely honest," the retired jurist exclaimed.
Then, she turned to the woman more directly, while giving the young man she was next to a sort of 'just a moment' look.
"I heard something about you and Hawke again. If you're planning to get him back from the Vulcan, I can help you," she whispered.

[Hot Candy - Puzzles]

[Doug Zaman - Puzzles]

"I'm alright, my dear. I've had worse, trust me," Doug answered Candy as he took the champagne and stood back up.

Doug then looked around. He had a tingling sense that there were El-Aurians - multiple! - somewhere nearby, but he wasn't sure where.
Consequently, in between sips of champagne, he asked Candy, "Have you noticed anyone around with an El-Aurian vibe?"

It wasn't a question he found her likely to have an answer to, but it would explain his searching.

Jenna turned to Lawrie and squeezed his hand. "I used to play here quite a bit. I made a small name for myself sans work. I really did love just playing here and singing. Though to be fair if I never was reassigned I would have never met you," She looked into Lawrie's eyes lovingly before pulling him in for a quick kiss. She pulled away only to order a glass of her favorite wine. "Would you like anything my love?"

"Well there that, though for you I'm not sure if that's a blessing or a curse!  As in I'm not the easiest person to live with.  I'll have a double single malt if such a thing is obtainable here please, mo ghràidh!  No ice. No Soda, No Water." Lawrie said, the last to the bartender.

"Please tell me you'll sing later... pretty please?!"

PO2 Peter Dannenberg
[Starbase Columbus - Puzzles Bar]

[Dr. Antoinette Ellis & Felicity Ellis - Puzzles]

"She could be helping people in a much more discernible way, don't you think? A career in medicine would have challenged her, could have made a difference to thousands." The inference was of course that Antoinette thought her daughter's work was a waste of time, but she never actually said as much. Not to a relative stranger, but anyone with half a brain would catch her very obvious meaning.

When Peter went on to tell her about his position and assignment to the Shran, straight out of the Academy, Antoinette managed to almost look motherly. "Ah, so young. Still plenty of time to set the galaxy on fire, Peter." The woman was somehow able to make the sentence sound affectionate and condescending, all in one.

The arrival of Felicity did not go unnoticed, nor did the smile or drink she bestowed upon the young man. Antoinette's eyes narrowed.

"So I've noticed," Felicity muttered in an aside to Peter when he said he'd met her mother. "I'm here to save you." Felicity managed not to wink, but Antoinette wasn't quite so restrained.

"My errant daughter arrives late, a drink in hand. As is usual."

"You expect me to deal with you sober?" Felicity responded, her tone light, and would have sounded almost teasing to anyone who didn't know her well enough to recognise the flash of her stare or slightly narrowed eyes.

As Leanna and Peter introduced themselves, Antoinette took the opportunity to move closer to her daughter. She leaned in, her hand on Felicity's elbow. "I expect you to act with a bit of civility," the older women muttered through clenched teeth, but still smiling for effect. Their eyes were drawn toward the stage, where Jem Sparkles was making her entrance. As the band struck those first opening chords, Felicity pulled her elbow from her mother's pinching grip. "This is Greg's night," she hissed the warning in her ear before moving off. "We can catch up later."

Felicity squared her shoulders and tried to push the ill-feeling building up inside of her back down again, so she could concentrate on the wonderful performance unfolding before them. And she almost managed to forget it. Greg was close by, positively beside himself with pride, and when Brooke and Jem reached the climax of their song together, Felicity was clapping so hard her hands were stinging.

[Gregory Ellis - Puzzles]

Greg had very purposely moved away from his family when he'd returned from the bar, and closer to Judy, Max, Aryn and Alec. He loved his sister, but the Felicity / Antoinette combination was explosive, and he didn't want to have to police either of them during his engagement party. It was a night of celebration for Brooke and for him; something they wanted to share with their friends. It was a way of completely settling in to life here on the station, and a way of welcoming those most important to them into their lives.

When Greg saw his future wife take to the stage, looking like she belonged as the lead star in a blockbuster holonovel, all of his previous worries and concerns melted away. The lump in his throat formed and got bigger as she sang, her beautiful voice joining with Jem's with a practiced ease. The lyrics of the song spoke to him in many ways; but he especially thought the sentiment that she was perfect, and that he wasn't deserving of her, but would try nonetheless, to be very apt.

He was very proud of her. And beyond touched that she would do something so scary as a way to show not just him, but everyone else, how strongly she felt.

[Judy & Max - Puzzles]

"Your lady has quite the set of pipes," Judy turned and told Greg.

"She sure does," he agreed with Judy as the clapping began to die down. He was still in awe. "She sings when she bakes, but never like that. I had no idea." He turned his happy expression toward the stage and excused himself again. "I should go and get her before the band claims her as their own for the rest of the night."

With a chorus of 'excuse' and 'pardon mes', Greg made his way through the crowd to the stage. He stopped in front of the bowing pair and extended his arms to his fiance, ready to lift her down from the heady heights of stage performance. Once he had a hold of her, and much to the crowd's delight, he would take her in his arms and kiss her thoroughly.

Felicity might have sounded vaguely scandalised by Judy's grandmother, but she was really highly amused. Maybe that shot was kicking in. When the older woman stagewhispered her offer to usurp T'Prina, Felicity valiantly tried not to burst out laughing.

"What Vulcan?"

Aryn and Alec both clapped and cheered when Brooke finished her song. They smiled as Greg made his way to her, pleased to see how happy the couple was.

Alec was just turning to say something to Judy when Aryn put a hand on his arm. Do you...I sense something. Is there another El-Aurian here?

Alec closed his eyes and let his senses take over. Yes, he said slowly. I think there might be. He craned his neck to look at the other guests. Many were people that they were at least passing familiar with, but there were a few new faces. It must be someone who came in after us. I didn't notice anything when we entered.

Aryn nodded in agreement and said to those around them, Would you excuse us? We're going to wander around a bit. That said, the couple broke from the group and began meandering about the room, Alec snagging them both sparkling ciders to drink.
