"It's none of my business whether you have a drug problem," Judy answered steadily, looking the young man in the eyes. "Whether you don't have one, or you don't want to talk to me about it, that's not a place for me to pry."

Judy leaned back in her desk chair, her blonde hair draping across the back of it.

"What I do think is that you have a dearth of self-esteem, that you need more good friends in your life, and that you need to remember that most people don't owe you anything. That's what I do think, but I have a strange feeling you aren't in the right mental state to work on any of that right now."

[Judy's office Brody]
"If it's none of your business, then why bring me hear and ask me about it?" He snorted and shook his head. This had done nothing but rattle his cage.
And now the lady was topping it all off with a few rather offensive statements about his self esteem, his friends and that noone (probably meaning her) owed him anything.

That was enough. Obviously this lady had no idea what she was talking about. He wasn't fuming inside now but he wouldn't give her the satisfaction to see it, so he very calmly but arrogantly stated. "You're very observant. Have a good day."
With that he took his hands off her desk and walked to the door.

He knew exactly why he would never come back here.
Perhaps he needed better friends and perhaps his self esteem wasn't sky rocket high but he was no junkie.

He walked away with as fast steps as his sore ribs allowed him. At the lab he silently wondered which one of his two bosses could have expressed his 'worries' but when he saw them talking to each other and then greet him, he had no idea. Both seemed to appreciate him and his work and were usually friendly.

Judy shook her head as she began to write her report.
Brody Cooper didn't seem to be an addict - there were physical signs of such things - but he was in the prime target demographic. His friends didn't seem to be of the high-quality variety, his romantic endeavors were evidently disappointing, his self-esteem was poor, and to make it worse, he had an annoying sense of entitlement that Judy, as a wealthy mother of two rich kids, knew to dread and detest. These were problematic traits, and they fed each other, creating a feedback loop, or rather a downward spiral - the kind of spiral that led to the needle, the joint, and other such things.

All this, she expressed in her writing, though with many more words, clacking away on her keyboard for her own personal notes.

Then, she prepared a brief summary, reading, in as many words: "'At this time, it is my assessment that Mr. Cooper is not a substance abuser, although he displays troubling behavioral patterns and life circumstances."
