Family Time (Fells & Lea)

Closing his eyes he endulged into the kiss they were sharing. It seemed even more intense than usually. Like their connection had become stronger. They'd been together for almost a year and were about to add to their family in another nine months.
Fells felt something that he usually didn't feel: Happiness.
It was a rare occasion. He was sometimes, content or excited or something a little more momentary and superficial than actual happiness so he enclosed Lea in his arms.
"I'm happy......I mean that."

After a while it was time to go so they'd be on time to find out the sex of the baby.

Together they walked most of the way but every now and then Ari wanted a piggy back ride. Fells easily carried the small girl but he wondered whether she'd become jealous if her mother would often carry the new brother or sister.

As the three of them made their way to Sickbay, Lea couldn't help but smile at the way Fells picked up and gave Ari piggy back rides, whenever she got tired of walking. Seeing them together, reminded the Betazoid of just how lucky she was to have him in their lives, as well as the happiness he had shared with her, before they left. To hear and feel that was something, that made her very happy and she couldn't wait to experience more happy moments, with the man she loved.

When the family then entered Sickbay after a short lift journey, there was definitely some excitement of the prospect of finding out the gender of their new addition. So after Lea had checked in with the front desk, she led them over to the waiting area. " Once we're called over, I want you to stay close to Daddy Fells, okay sweetheart?" she said to Ari, knowing how her little girl, could get distracted easily.

" Yes Mama".

Lea smiled at her response, before turning to Fells, " Not long now and we can celebrate later".

When Lea's little family checked in, Alec's PADD received a notification and he quickly headed to the waiting area to summon them. Descant followed close behind.

Lea, Fells, he said warmly. Hello, Ari, he added. Why don't you come on back, Alec said with a smile.

Lea, would you mind if Descant does your scan and examination? he asked as they walked toward a biobed. If you'd rather I do it, that's completely fine. I'd just like her to have the experience if you don't object.

Descant had waved silently at the couple, but reached the tip of her tail out to tickle Ari in greeting.

It was so much better to be greeted by Alec than Dr. Lunn. He knew all of them, was nice, skilled and had a baby on the way, too.

Fells greeted him back and then followed the man.

By now he was visibly nervous. Not about Descant but about finding out the gender.
With a soft smile hexalso greeted the 'cat'.
"You stayed here....are you staying for good?"
Fells was surprised that she liked it better tjsn her basic but happy community.

When Alec greeted them all, Lea smiled back, happy to see both him and Descant as they followed the pair over to a bio bed and she was asked if it would be okay for Descant to perform the scan and examination. Having undergone training herself, Lea had no issue with allowing their Sivaoan friend to be the one to carry it out as she understood what it was like to gain experience.

" I don't mind at all" she replied after Fells had spoken to Descant, aware of her beloved's nerves regarding what they were about to find out. Ari on the other hand was mesmerised by Descant, giggling when she was tickled with her tail, which resulted in her hugging the Sivaoan as Lea lied down on the bed and reached over with her hand to reassure Fells.

With a smile, Alec stepped back and gestured for Descant to take the lead in things. I'll be here if you need me or have any questions. That goes for all of you, he said, including Lea and Fells.

Descant returned Ari's hug by wrapping her tail around the little girl and giving a gentle squeeze instead of using her arms. Descant looked a little awkward, though her facial expression didn't change much.

Yes, she answered Fells after taking a deep breath. As she spoke, she started up the scanners on the biobed. I like it here. All of the different species are fascinating and I've come to really enjoy my work here. I'm thinking of specializing in pediatrics. I love children. Her tail waved teasingly in Ari's direction again.

Descant observed the readings from the biobed for a few moments before turning her gaze to meet Lea's eyes. All of the readings look good, for both you and the baby. Are you ready to know the gender? There was excitement in her voice, though the Sivaoan didn't entirely understand what was so important about finding out the gender of a baby before it was born. Her medical scanner from home had the capability, but it just wasn't something that mattered to Sivaoan mothers. Your children were your children, whether male or female, and there was less separation between the sexes than there seemed to be with many humanoid species. Still, the others' excitement was contagious, so Descant was excited for them.

Fells didn't understand why she would want to be among all these species and danger but he accepted it.
"If Ari gets sick we can come to you."
He commented and waved the girl over to climb on his arm so she wouldn't be in the way.
From the side he observed the scanner and held Leas hand.
He was happy to know that they both were healthy.
"I'm so ready....what is it?"
Fells was sure Lea knew already and locked eyes with her.

" Thanks Alec" Lea replied, appreciating her friends words as Descant hugged Ari back, before taking over the scans. It was nice to see her daughter being so relaxed around the Sivaoan and hearing how she wanted to focus on pediatrics.

Agreeing with Fells as he took hold of Ari and held her hand. " Definitely we will" she said as Descant told her that everything looked good with both her and the baby.

That was definitely a relief as she wanted to have a healthy pregnancy. Although at Fells's comment about being ready to know the gender, she smiled especially as he locked eyes with her.

" I'm ready too".

Alec grinned at the pair. Their excitement really was contagious and it made Alec all the more eager him and Aryn to find out the genders of their own brood. It would probably be a few more weeks before they'd be able to tell for sure. Alec had been restraining himself from trying to check the scans every time Aryn came in for a checkup.

Well... Descant said, drawing the word out. She had the sense that this was a moment to be treasured and enjoyed, so she didn't want to end the anticipation too quickly. On the screen above the biobed, Descant projected a 3D image of the baby and said, here is your...[spoiler]son![/spoiler]

The image rotated slowly, showing the tiny baby curled up, but moving in tiny twitches. Descant's tail coiled happily.

Thank goodness Fells had Ari and Lea to hold on to. If he had gotten any more excited he might have bounced up and down like the little girl usually did.
He concentrated really hard when the Sivoan told them the baby's gender.

Then he felt like jumping up for joy but held back a little and just pumped his fist in the air.
"Yes!"
Obviously the Sivoans weren't as excited about these kind of things as he caught a bewildered look.
"Lea had a feeling it will be a boy....I'm happy, now we'll have a boy and a girl."
He lean down to look into Leas dark eyes and gave her a brief kiss. "Are you happy, too?"

The excitement and anticipation was palpable, despite her already having some instinct as to what gender the baby would be. Still this whole experience was something she wouldn't forget as Descant then confirmed it for them. Staring at the 3D image that was slowly rotating, taking in every detail of their baby boy as Fells reacted to the news.

Loving his excitement and the way he pumped his fist in the air, as he spoke to Descant. Smiling happily before he then kissed her and asked if she was happy too.

" Oh yes and our family is now complete".

Descant's tail coiled into a tight corkscrew, showing her pleasure at her friends' reaction. I'm happy for you both. And I'd be pleased to see you any time. Thank you for letting me be part of this.

Congratulations, you two, Alec said, stepping closer and reaching out for Lea's hand to squeeze. A grin split his face. He'd given countless women this news and it always gave him a jolt to the heart at seeing their excitement.

"Thank you." Fells looked like he had just defeated the whole Breen Fleet by himself because he was so proud of his 'achievement'.

He then nuzzled Ari and even gave her a small kiss, which he didn't do a lot. "You're going to have a little brother, Ari. That's going to be great!"
Of course he got nervous just thinking about it. His parents only knew he was alive, nothing more. Fells had been to embarrassed to speak to them but he also wanted them back in his life, no matter how fowl his past was.
Perhaps he should speak to them alone first, just in case the answer would be a massive string of curses.
Most likely the girl wanted another girl to play with but Fells was happy the way it was. He would have loved to kiss Lea right now but held back until they had said their good byes and were somewhat alone in the hallway.
"Now you can start thinking about names for our little guy!" He announced and thought about his own parents.
"I think I'd better make a call to earth later. Do you want to 'meet' my family?"

" Thank you, Alec and Descant, I'm glad that we got to share this with you too".Lea replied, echoing her boyfriends comment, feeling happy and elated, now that they had experienced this moment.

Getting up from the bed as Fells nuzzled and spoke to Ari, smiling happily at the way he was with her. " It is indeed and I'm looking forward to seeing what names we can come up with for him".

When he then asked if she wanted to meet his family after talking about making a call to Earth later, Lea understood what he meant by it. " I would like to meet them and I'll be there to support you".

Lea meant it as well as she turned to Alec and Descant. " Thank you again and we'll see you both soon".

After saying their goodbyes, Lea then led her family out of Sickbay.

Later that day when Ari was in bed, Fells slipped in some comfy clothes and got his padd.
"So ....which name are you thinking?"
He asked while booting the Padd.
He had to check what time it was in Iceland and whether his parents connection was on.
It was and it was late morning on a Sunday in Reykjavik.
"They're home." He said quietly and then added. "I haven't spoken to them since the incident. Tess contacted them when they found me but...I was....too ...you know."
