"Playin' around doesn't get ya anywhere," she observed with another shrug. Then the ghost of a smile returned to her lips. "See somethin', want somethin', take somethin'."

But the Andorian doctor, he got no smile. She slid off the biobed immediately, and stepped right into his personal space. He was pointing his finger directly at her, so Costa responded in kind. She'd wager that she could do more damage with her finger than he could with his. When Cooper spoke up, she squinted at the tetchy man.

"Ya hear that? He was on Shran. If it weren't fer him, ya'd be speakin' Breen righ' now." Slight exaggeration, but there was a gist. The doctor huffed and moved toward Cooper, but he turned to point at her one last time.

"You stay right where you are. I've already called Security to deal with you." He then made a grab for Cooper's arm, intent on rotating it. Costa, who had scoffed at the mention of Security, pushed herself back off the biobed she'd been leaning casually against as soon as she saw what the doctor was doing.

"Oi! MORON. Dun do tha' ta him! He jus' said his arm was broke!" Costa was shocked at two things. The first was this man's obvious incompetence, the second was her very loud reaction. But how could she not? He could do serious damage to him!

"Merciful light!" The Andorian blasphemed, "I'm the trained professional here!"

"Are ya even a doctor? If ya touch him again pal, I'll rip ya arm off."

Her Breen speaking comment made Brody snort despite the pain he was in....or maybe because of it.

The doctor didn't appreciate the comment or her behavior and first threatened her, then grabbed Brodys arm ....most likely to examine it but the sudden movement jarring his bones made him howl and flinch.
It was Costa again who stood up to the man and defended him like a tiger a kitten. That was probably a instinctive mechanism or she actually liked Brody, who had now really changed his mind.
He slid off the biobed and sidestepped the doctor shielding his arm from him.
"Did you train with Barkonians?" Costas attitude was rubbing off on Brody now as he accused him pf medeival techniques.

He tugged on Costas uniform.
"Let's just get out of here. Better get drunk and not get tortured and arrested."

[Lex Costa - Tertiary Sickbay]

"Ya'd be safer in the Rising Sun," she told him, folding her arms against her chest defensively then when Cooper suggested they'd be better off getting drunk. It was saying a lot; almost every time she'd gone into that bar she'd come out with battle bruises. "Be healthier than this jungle medicine, anyway."

"You'll go nowhere! Security will deal with you." He swung around on Cooper. "With both of you!" But first, the Andorian had an oath to uphold, insults or not. "Stay still." He began to scan Cooper with his medical tricorder, then once satisfied, he tapped his comm.

=/\= "Dr. Tharov Ch'qerhot to Security. Please respond to Tertiary Sickbay at your earliest convenience." =/\=

Costa's face was a picture. "Less go before I kill 'im," she murmured to Cooper, having had more than enough of the Andorian. She backed up toward the door.

"He can't go anywhere, he has a broken arm!"

She glared in disbelief at the doctor and then turned wide eyes back toward Cooper. As she looked at him, she was suddenly overcome with the urge to burst out laughing. "Yeah, no shit."

Leanna Mazal

[Leanna - Tertiary Sickbay]

After finishing up in the Emergency Triage Centre, Lea had been directed up to Tertiary Sickbay, to assist up there. However hadn't expected to walk into what she could only describe as a standoff between an Andorian doctor, she vaguely recognised and Costa who was holding onto Cooper.

Unsure as to what exactly was going on, Lea decided that it didn't matter too much right now, especially at catching the words broken arm. Her colleague clearly had no bedside manner and this situation needed to be diffused.

Ignoring Ch'qerhot , Lea approached the two people, she knew slightly better.

" Let's get you back over to a bio bed and treat your arm properly, Cooper, Costa want to come over with us, I promise that my colleague will be on his best behaviour, unless he wants reporting".

First the insults by Costa then the threads by the Dr. came coming, even against Brody, who
protested. "Why me?"

"Security to tertiary sickbay. After thecBreen attack we're short on personnel. Please be patient."

Of course he was too rule abiding to tell the man to leave him alone and go.

Cringing he held still for the scan, that had already been done by the medic in the docking bay. He already knew the outcome.
Why he 'couldn't go anywhere', he wasn't sure.
"Do I have to follow his orders?" Brody asked Costa of all people.

Things only got stranger when Maggies boss, the restaurant owner, came in and told him to lay down.
Udderly confused Brody looked at her, noted her medical outfit and wondered whether he had her mistaken for someone else.
He gave the doctor a questioning look but ge seemed somewhat intimidated by Leas presence.
So Brody sat down and nodded.
"I'd rather sit."
He put all his trust in the restaurant owner and told her. "I can't take the uniform off, please cut it...I could use one of those cyclone drinks. Aren't you the owner of that restaurant on the lower promenade?"

Alexa Costa

[Lex Costa - Tertiary Sickbay]

"Nah," Costa responded readily when Cooper asked if he had to follow the doctor's orders. That was a given really though, Costa didn't think you had to follow anyone's orders. All depended on what consequences you were willing to face. In this case, the doctor presented a danger to his patient, so Costa ruled she could shove her boot up his hoop, and then leave.

She wasn't in the slightest bit surprised to hear Security's response - they were, after all, dealing with the aftermath of an invasion and a massive fleet attack from the Breen, but she was surprised to see Halgerdur's missus appear as if from the ether and sweep them away.

Costa had only met Leanna Mazal once to her memory. She'd been chatting with Fells about their recent injuries during some boring fancy function when Leanna had walked straight up, kissed him out of nowhere, and then started listing her businesses. Costa hadn't thought much of her then, but if she was going to help Cooper then she thought she could probably keep her mouth shut.

She did particularly enjoy the Andorian doctor getting put back in his blue box, though. She smirked at him as she walked passed, following the others toward the biobed.

"Report me? To whom?" He replied to the woman's threats, but he said very little else. He looked angrily at Costa, and hovered over Leanna as she began to administer care to the patient. It was almost like he wasn't completely sure as to what he should be doing. Costa knew that Leanna Mazal was connected, and that even though he was likely her superior in Tertiary Sickbay, she probably wielded a lot more power than he did. Costa also marveled at the sheer amount of egotists the medical department of Columbus boasted. As if that Quiche moron wasn't enough.

Costa leaned against the biobed, next to Cooper. She appeared casual again, but she had her arms crossed and she was watching everything. Silently.

Leanna Mazal

[Leanna - Tertiary Sickbay]

Considering what she had just experienced in the Emergency Triage Centre and a fight against her hormones. Lea wasn't in the mood for Doctor's who thought they knew better and with the ego to match, after all, she'd had enough experience of that, with one Quiche Lunn. Yet she was glad when Cooper and Costa, followed her over to an available bio bed, no doubt a little confused as to why she was here.

So when he said that he would prefer to sit, Lea had no issue with that, before he informed her that he couldn't take his uniform off, and asked if she could cut it, as well as enquiring if he was right or not about her identity. " Don't worry, I can cut away, the tunic and yes I am, although the bomb cyclones, might have to wait as the bar was closed due to the attack, I'm hoping to re open soon".

It was good to hear, that he liked those drinks, before she became aware of the Andorian, hovering around her, clearly not so intimidated but also at a loss, to retaliate against her threat. Deciding to ignore his presence, Lea then proceeded to cut away Brody's tunic, aware that Costa was watching silently, obviously concerned. She knew that she hadn't probably got off to a great start with Costa, when they had first met, but hoped to rectify that as she then began the process of treating the broken arm.

" We'll have you healed and leaving here soon, but I would like to extend an invitation to you both, for a drink on the house, when the bar does reopen".

[Sick bay NPC Cooper]

Lea was a jack of all trades it seemed. She looked tired and slightly sweaty but still she appearedeared to know what she was doing as she expertly cut away the arm of his uniform but didn't nick him once.

This was the first time he actually saw what his arm looked like. It wasn't pretty with the massive swelling but Cooper was proud that he took the injury like a fighter, not a nerd. Costa wouldn't like that....he caught himself thinking an aweful lot about the girl, who had thought he's stupid enough so she could steal from him and then was very creative in solving the discovery.

As Lea started to work on his arm his confidence faded a little when he realised that she'd be able to heal the break almost pain free but what about the dislocated elbow.

"Er thanks for the invitation...." He studdered well aware that Maggie worked at Puzzles and wouldn't be happy about him bringing another woman there.

"Nurse....you are aware that you're creating a little too much space in the joint if you heal the fracture first."
There was almost a hint of a smile on the doctors ugly face.

Brody let out a desperate sigh and looked at Costa pleading with her not to claw the man in the face.
"Just remember...drinks are waiting for us when we're done."

Alexa Costa

[Lex Costa - Tertiary Sickbay]

Costa's eyes followed the surgical scissors as it slid up Cooper's t-shirt, revealing his injury beneath it. She winced at the sight of his arm. It looked very painful. And very wrong.

She cocked her head when Leanna spoke of Puzzles and invited them for a drink when it reopened. It wasn't at all her kind of place, but it was nice of the woman to offer. Costa studied Cooper for a moment, wondering if it was his kind of place. She wondered then where he liked to go when he wasn't working, or getting injured fighting starships. She realised then that she knew very little about him, other than the fact he was sciencey and easy on the eye.

Her head snapped toward the Andorian when he deigned to speak again. "Speakin' of space," she snapped back, eyes narrowed in barely contained anger at the stupid male. "Back. Up. Let 'er do the job ya couldn't."

Cooper's voice broke through the red mist of anger that hung just beyond reach, threatening to descend and take over her vision and senses. Unconsciously she was clenching and unclenching a fist, trying to keep herself calm. She was suddenly overcome by tiredness, and she realised she was crashing. She took a deep, restorative breath, and turned toward him. "'Kay." Then she glanced at Leanna. "How bad is it?"

Before Lea could acknowledge Brody's, slightly awkward acceptance of her offer, the Andorian interrupted again. Taking a deep breath, Lea bit back an angry retort, not amused that he was trying to tell her how to do her job. She hadn't even fully started yet, but did appreciate Costa helping her out.

" Yes I'm aware and like my friend said, give me some space, so I can do a job, that I've done before".

Looking towards Brody and Costa as the Ops officer asked how bad it was, she was honest with her answer.

" It looks worse than it is, but we'll have it put right, as long as my colleague, stops interrupting".

Putting the tool down for a moment, Lea then reached for a splint so she could put his elbow back into place.

His breathing got faster and his tighs flexed involuntarily when she started with the splint.
"Looks worse than it is...." He snorted. It surely didn't look worse than it felt.
At least there was one upside. He got a lot of attention from Costa. It felt like motherly care for some reason though.

"Can you hurry up...or give me some good pain killers?"

He looked up into Leas brown eyes and wondered how long it would be until security came for Costa.
"I'd prefer if you hurried up....this isn't my favourite part of the evening and I doubt its yours. You probably have someone waiting....."
Yes, he was babbling...nervous....and more than ready for a drink.

Alexa Costa

[Lex Costa - Tertiary Sickbay]

Costa nodded when Leanna declared the injury less severe than it appeared, feeling some relief at the words. Mostly because it looked pretty bad. She continued to eye the Andorian, intent on making sure he stopped interrupting so they could all get on with the business of fixing the damn arm and get the heck out of there. But when Cooper started to ramble a little, she returned her attention to him.

"Hey Cooper, 'member on the bridge o' the Shran when I said nothin' interestin' ever happens in science labs?"

She smirked at the memory herself, though she was trying to distract him from any discomfort he was about to feel at Leanna's hands. "Think we should drop by the lab and test tha' theory?"

She bit down on her lip to stop herself from laughing, suddenly, even through her tiredness, thoroughly enjoying the task of diverting the Science Officer's attention away from all the other drama. "Tha' could end up bein' ya favourite part of the evenin'."

Cooper might not of been completely convinced with her assessment of his injury, but she was confident in her abilities, despite what the Andorian might think. However as he told her to hurry up or give him pain meds, Lea decided to do both. Reaching over for a hypo, whilst keeping a firm grip with her left hand on his arm.

Wanting to reassure him as he started to babble, thinking of Fells for a moment, before Costa stepped in to help. Appreciating the distraction and had high hopes that it would work.

" See you have something to look forward too, now I'm going to give you some pain relief, then it'll all be over".

Lea then administered the hypo, then satisfied it had taken effect, put his elbow back into place, then finished up by ensuring that the break was healed.

" How do you feel?".

Fells Halgerdur

[Sick bay npc cooper]
Of course he knew what Costa was doing with her sexual references and half spoken promises. It still worked. Her words distracted him and sparked some hopes of repeating the exercise. It also embarassed him a little because Lea might tell Maggie.
"Science labs are the most exciting place on this base." He commented, then look up into Leas friendly face, then her hands. A hypo....finally.
He patiently held still so she could shoot sone drugs into his system, that worked very fast and toned down the sharp pain to a dull barable one before she popped the elbow back in its socket.
Brody could feel it slide back into place and the pain subside a lot.

When she was done the arm didn't look much different because it was still swollen and bruised but it was usable again and almost pain free.

"I can't tell much....but I can use it again."
Brody noticed how slow and drunk he suddenly sounded. He bent and turned it to demostrate it.
"Thanks....all good." He got up but was a little unsteady thanks to the string pain killer, which almost made him fall into Leas arms.
He quickly gave her a hug. "I owe you...."
At least he was still sharp enough not to give 'regards' to Maggie.

Turning towards Costa he passed the doctor, shook his hand and slurred. "Brilliant work. A+ doc."

Then he took Costas hand. "Unclench that fist, you don't need it anymore. Let's go."

It looked a little awkward how he was very slowly  walking out of the small treatment room with only one arm on his uniform.

Alexa Costa

[Lex Costa - Tertiary Sickbay]

Costa's grin grew at his response. Certainly his science lab had become pretty exciting all those weeks ago when she'd visited uninvited and helped herself to... a couple of things. Her eyes stayed on his face while his expression changed, signifying some working pain medication. Costa was still pretty aggrieved over the Andorian doctor, but she couldn't help the amusement that bubbled up inside of her at Cooper's slurred words and tendency toward excessive affection toward Leanna in gratitude. He even thanked the Andorian and shook his hand. Costa didn't.

She turned to Leanna and nodded at her. "Thanks, Ms. Mazal. 'Preciate ya help."

Then she felt Cooper's hand again and she looked down, realising that her hand was still clenched. She sighed, and tried to loosen up. She left with the Science Officer, torn between worry at how slowly he was moving, and laughter at the one-armed uniform.

"Hey Coop, wanna come ta my place instead?" Costa asked as they left Sickbay. She'd found time to spear the Andorian with a threatening look as they exited, though she was also trying to recover her good humour. "Dun think Rising Sun would be a good place ta go while lookin' like tha'." She grinned, her expression cheeky. "An' I think am too tired ta deal wit the usual barflies."

"Ever had soju?" She asked suddenly, leading the way toward the turbolift and hoping he'd take her up on her offer. "My ma used ta make it on the Presto in an old iron tub. Got a bottle hidden away for special occasion."
