I have now added the season six mission titles to the season overview, along with a mission outline that was submitted by Pvt. Jason Mirwald. Beware of spoilers.

There are still two missions slots in season six that need filling, so if you have any ideas, feel free to submit them.

As I am sure you are aware, the Discovery welcomed a new crew member recently. Private Jason Mirwald joined the USS Discovery detachment of the Starfleet Marine Corps, under Major Richard Ransom and squad leader, Lieutenant Nechayev, one week ago. It is my pleasure to announce that his probationary period of active posting has expired. Under the Shadow Fleet regulations, new enlisted members are placed on probation for a period of one week, during which time they must play an active role in the fleet, before they are promoted to a permanent rank. Mirwald has proven that he will be an active member and has earned this right. And so, without further ado, I hereby promote Private Jason Mirwald to Private First Class and officially welcome him to the ranks of the Shadow Fleet enlisted force. Please congratulate him on this achievement.

Congratulations, Private!

It is with great pleasure that I announce the return of crew awards to the simm.

Player awards are given out every six months - once in January, and again in July. They exist to reward players for their contributions towards the sim, whether this be while posting, or with help outside of missions.

Out of character awards reward players for their commitment outside of the normal missions, for example, for submitting mission ideas or having consistently well-written posts.

The first awards ceremony will be in January 2009. Myself and the first officer will discuss to whom each award should be presented, except where stated otherwise (e.g. the Crew's Choice Award).

Voting for who the Crew's Choice Award should go to will begin on 1st December and run through until the 20th December, when the simm will have a two week break from missions for Christmas.

I have decided to move forward the Crew Awards to 20th December, 2008. Consider it a Christmas treat for all the hard work you have put in over the past year.

The Crew's Choice Award poll has now been opened. You can vote for any member of the crew whom you think deserves some recognition for the hard work they have put in. You have to be a member of the USS Discovery and may not vote for yourself.

Good luck!

I'd just like to take a few moments to congratulate everyone on a mission well done. Mission 03 was fun to post in and we had many people contributing to the storyline.

Keep it up.

Good luck!

I have made one more addition to the player awards list. I know some of you put a lot of time and effort into the simm and, to show how much it is appreciated, I have created the Outstanding Commitment Award. This award has been created to recognise those who are always online and posting in the missions regularly. LoA requests will not be counted against you when being considered for this award.

Quite frankly, I think most of you, if not all, deserve this award for always being online. We are a very active simm of which I am proud to be a part.

Secondly, I would like to remind everyone that votes for the Crew Choice Award are still open. I don't have a vote off everyone yet. Make sure you reward the person who you think has contributed a lot towards the simm by voting now. Just send the name of the person you are voting for via PM to me.

Well, that's it for this update. Keep up the good work, Discovery!

Just another reminder that the Crew's Choice Award poll is still open! If you haven't voted already make sure you do. Don't miss out on nominating the player you think has excelled recently! Simply send a PM to me stating the name of the player you are voting for.

Voting ends 30th November so hurry!

Voting for the Crew's Choice Award is now closed. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on 20th December 2008. Good luck!

On a related note, all mission posts will be suspended for a two week break, beginning on 19th December 2008, and returning on 2nd January 2009. It is my hope that we can get the current mission, Initiations, completed before then.

Thanks.

Please welcome Private Kai Black to the ship. Private Black will be taking up a position on Alpha Squad as a Marine Sniper. I'm sure you'll all make him feel welcome.

On a side note, well done to Private First Class Mirwald on recruiting Private Black to the simm. Pvt. Mirwald has only been with us a couple of weeks but, due to this, has already earned the Recruitment Medal, which will be presented at the next awards ceremony.

Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Well done to everyone who took part in Mission 04: "Initiations", in particular Pvt. Mirwald who has only been with the simm for a short period of time. Mission 05, entitled "Dawn, Part I" will begin on 3rd January 2009. Until then, we will take a break for Christmas, as I am aware some of you may be going away to visit family and such. I expect everyone to be back online on 2nd January 09.

May I also take this opportunity to remind you of the first awards ceremony, which will take place on 20th December 2008. I urge you all to be online during this as it is an important occasion where we can recognise people's achievements in the simm. The ceremony will take place at approximately:

20:00hrs GMT (UK)
12:00hrs PST (US West Coast)
15:00hrs EST (US East Coast)
09:00hrs (New Zealand Time, 21st December, 2008)

That is all for this update. See you at the awards ceremony!

I am trialling a new mission format idea to slot in the mid-season break. Mission 4.5: "Echoes of the Past" will be a flashback mission set on the Nova class Discovery. The mission will be classed as "official" but it is not compulsory for all members, however if you do start posting in it, I expect you to be posting regularly.

The mission storyline will bridge the gap between the Nubarri arc and the upcoming story arc, revealing some of the backstory of the aliens we will be meeting.

If you would like to take part, simply post in the mission topic as normal. Participation in this will count as an extra activity and will go towards the contribution award.

Thanks.

Well done to everyone who won an award at the awards ceremony, and even if you didn't there is always the next one!

I hope to see everyone back online on the 3rd January, 2009 for the commencement of the next mission.

So, that's it for this update. All that is left to say is

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I know I will!
