COMPUTER SYSTEMS
Computer Cores: Two Primary Computer Cores
Ship Networking: The ship uses bio-neural gel packs to augment a primary networking of isolinear chips. Among the most powerful in the Federation, each is capable of incredible redundancy if needed by the mission profile.
LCARS: The computer systems use LCARS version 5.6, to account for increases in processor speed and power, and limitations discovered in the field in earlier versions, and increased security.

EMERGENCY SYSTEMS
Saucer Separation: Saucer Separation is not possible on the Sovereign class platform, due to structural integrity requirements.
Nacelle Ejection: The Sovereign Class has the ability to eject both the warp nacelles, in the event that one or both are critically damaged to a point that would create a clear and present danger to the ship. Once separated, a spacedock is required to reintegrate the nacelles and the main body.
Escape Pods:150 are available to supplement the shuttlecraft embarked. Each pod can support a maximum of 8 souls for 8 months. Lifepods can link up in "gaggle" mode and share resources to last longer. Each 8-soul pod is in the shape of a triangle, 5.6 meters high and 6.2 meters long.
Warp Core Ejection: The warp core ejection system is a system aboard warp-capable vessels designed to eject the warp core in the event of a warp core breach in order to prevent the destruction of the ship. Activation of the ejection system typically requires security clearance by the chief engineer or a senior officer (Commander or above). This tactic is generally considered to be a last ditch effort to save a ship during a crisis situation and is often unreliable at best.

The Block II

The Sovereign Block II is the second generation design for the Sovereign Class. Halfway between a variant and a refit, the Block II was designed to fill some of the shortfalls of the Sovereign class, without the resources and directives to design a whole refit. While commonly called a Refit, the ship is visually indistinguishable from the original, now called the "Block ".

The Sovereign Block II was designed after field trials of the early Odyssey class proved too difficult for current designs to properly handle. The Odyssey, considered underpowered and too slow, was retired to the development board until such time as her shortfalls can be repaired. The designs and hardware used on the Odyssey project, as well as lessons learned in the field, helped make the Block II project a reality.

The Block II includes improvements to the Warp Core, higher rated warp speeds, a faster turn rate, and a more efficient life support system. Tactical systems were also improved, with more and better Phaser arrays. These improvements allow for the Block II to be almost as effective as the Odyssey class, and more than capable of taking on a Block I class. Also among the changes include the shuttlebay.

The Block II reduces the capacity of Type-8 Shuttles, and adds a standard cargo shuttle. The capacity of the shuttles embarked are also reduced, and the Argo-type shuttle and buggy have been removed. These changes allow for the inclusion of a single Yellowstone-class runabout to be embarked. No Delta Flyer is included with the design. The expected lifespan of the Block II is approximately five years longer than her sister design, the Block I. Designers estimate the improvements on the Block II will provide the platform needed by Starfleet for years to come, while backwards enhancements to existing block I ships expected at standard refits.
