Is there any chance the character used for this mission could be spun off into a permanent fleet character assigned to a ship?

TAS = The Animated Series

Life support belt was something introduced in that series that replaced a space suit with a belt that provided an environmentally stable envelope for boarding paties.

The Animated Series is a bit of a gray area for us.
Not really canon.

And that tech would likely not fit in to the current mission - but there may be others in the future.

But nothing would prevent you from perhaps mentioning it in this mission - perhaps get the idea in front of an Admiral with big ears ;-)
