Character Bio:
Early life
Born in to an era of war like the Federation hadn't seen in hundreds of years Sharhira had a rather tumultuous childhood. Born aboard the USS Lexington (NCC-61832) to Revaan a Starfleet Lieutenant and Vrira a civilian exobiologist in 2371. With the initiation of open hostilities between The Dominion and The Federation in 2373 starship life was becoming increasingly hazardous, her parents decided that Vrira would take Sharhira to live on an Andorian settlement. Her father was tragically lost along with thousands of other Starfleet officers in 2374 with the near annihilation of the 7th fleet at the hands of Dominion forces. With the ever further encroaching of Dominion forces Sharhira and her mother were forced to evacuate repeatedly. The stress of this, combined with the grief and guilt of the death of her father, lead her mother to give Sharhira up to the Andorian state at the age of 5, becoming one of many orphans of the war.

Fortunately being an Andorian orphan wasn't quite as awful an experience as in some races. Though still looked down on by those that cling to traditions of the clans, the same strong familial instinct lead to strong bonds between those who lived in the orphanage. Like many parts of Andorian culture discipline was key. Study was one of the only things that was pushed harder than raw discipline. Sharhira was found to have an aptitude for science and in particular astrophysics was encouraged to follow that path. Her application to Starfleet Academy was sponsored by the Matron of her orphanage, a rather grizzled ex-Starfleet Captain.

Personality
Due to her rather strict upbringing Sharhira can often seem stand-off-ish, adhering to protocol and sometimes has difficulty relaxing. However she can be incredibly passionate when engaged on the right subjects. She can quickly become incredibly excitable if she's allowed to indulge in a deep discussion. She's a very hands on learner, much preferring to do and experience things in person than read about them.

Interests
Whilst Sharhira's scientific studies were where she was most driven she has a passion for martial arts. Stemming from the classes she took as a young girl in one of the more common forms of Andorian Martial Arts where she found it very therapeutic and centring. She has continued her study of various forms of Martial arts, preferring the more relaxing Tai-chi and Mok'bara styles. Though she has been known to participate in full contact sparing, relying more on her agility than brute force due to her rather slight physique.

Sample post:
This had been months in the planning. Sharhira had been sat in the study hall for her Starfleet entrance exam when her tutor had tossed out the titbit of the lunar alignment.

"Quite the rarest and peculiar of events" The portly Benzite wheezed before taking another deep breath from his respirator "One might even say it were evidence for a creator. Three of the moons of Andor II will be in perfect alignment" He grinned "Shame you would have to be in low orbit to see it though, from the ground it'll just be another normal night"

Sharhira knew she had to see it for herself. Of course there would be images and holograms but she wanted to see it with her own eyes. Later that night in her dorm she sat at her computer, tapping away at the screen calculating the exact moment when those three orbiting globes would be in perfect alignment and just where she'd have to be to view it. Her antennae twitched, suddenly she felt someone behind her. Quickly switching off the display and wheeling around in her chair to face Ezataa, one of the orphanages helpers, an orphan herself who had stayed on to look after the next generation.

"What're you still doing up? Studying still?" She snapped authoritatively. Sharhira nodded meekly staying silent, she knew she was up past curfew. One of Ezataa's hand lifted and ruffled Sharhira's hair patronisingly as her rather stern face melted in to a grin "S'pose some of us have got to get smart enough to leave here" and as Sharhira rose to stand she found herself in a tight embrace for a moment "Now off to bed with you!"

Of course for this plan she needed a ship, or more precisely a shuttle. The orphanage had their own old rust-bucket of a Galileo-class, used only when they needed to transport a lot of students. It'd been re-painted more than a few times as it'd been handed down from organisation to organisation but if you caught in the right light, and squinted, you could just about make out the old Starfleet markings. Of course she'd had some simulator time but never any real flight training. And she'd spent every trip since she'd started hatching this plan peering over the pilots shoulder, trying to learn as many of the nuances of the shuttles behaviour as she could.

Now she was crouched in the bushes in the dark, heart thumping as she prepared to dash across the open square  to 'borrow' that old shuttle. She couldn't wait.

I'd love a posting on the Athena or Challenger if at all possible.

Sharhira,

A very nice application.

I can put you in the Science Department on the Athena.

Will that work?

Please advise,

Kirok, can we get her in engineering instead of science? If she doesn't mind doing engineering. We currently have one person in science and a vacancy in engineering.

Thank you very much! I'd much rather do a science role but if there's a real need for someone to go to engineering I'm sure I'd still enjoy that.
