Lek notices the new female as soon as she entered the room.

"Stunning." He thought and squirmed as he much rather introduce himself to her rather than listen to history of some hewmon feemale, but he couldn't think of a reason to slip away from Cleroux at the moment.

He continued to smile absently, but he wasn't listening any more as he noticed the length of the new woman's fingers and Cleroux' voice became lost in thoughts of the possibilities those fingers running along his Lobes.

Enlisted Mess Hall

Bonnie walked into the mess hall full of people, large crowds were gathered in various positions and Bonnie stopped just before the door. She sighed quietly to herself. 'How did I end up getting here then?' Bonnie asked herself. She'd only got on the ship the day before, and she found herself at the CMO's adopted daughter's christening. She knew the girls name was Alys, but not the CMO's name and yet she was still invited.

Bonnie wasn't really sure what to wear when she'd got the invite, she spent a while trying to think on something and settled in a shirt with the sleeves rolled up to just before her forearm, a pair of fitted smart black trousers, and a pair of smart shoes, the kind of clothes she'd probably wear when she was working but with the exception of a lab coat, or something to wear to make her look a little more official. But it looked smart enough, or at least she thought it did.

Bonnie walked further into the mess and looked around, the groups of Starfleet officers put Bonnie off socialising, she couldn't just walk over to a group and introduce herself. They all know each other, Bonnie didn't know anyone. Rather than walking up to one of the groups, Bonnie opted to sit down and wait for the christening to start, introduce herself to the CMO and congratulate her, then leave after. Unless someone came and introduced them-self to her.

Lizzie seeing the new arrival and making sure that Martin was alright with Alys, decided to go over to her and make introductions. She made her way over to the woman and smiled.

"Ms Moors? Hi I'm Dr Vaughan. Welcome aboard and thank you for coming to my Daughters Christening. Would you like to to introduce you to a few people?" She asked.

As Bonnie was watching the crowds of people chat between each other and sensing lots of happy emotions between all of the crew, she was cut off when she noticed the Ferengi stood gawking at her. Bonnie wasn't the fondest of Ferengi's, for one, she couldn't read his thoughts or sense his emotions. Having an ability like that for so long made her on edge when she met someone who could block it, but rather than give the Ferengi male a cold stare, she smiled at him, and turned her attention to the woman walking towards her.

Bonnie smiled at the woman and rose from her chair. As the woman begun to speak, Bonnie nodded, confirming she was 'Miss Moors'. "I am indeed, but you can call me Bonnie, Doctor Bonnie Moors. It's good to meet you, Doctor Vaughan. Congratulations, you must be proud to see your daughter be baptised." Bonnie paused. "And yes, I'd love to meet some new people. Lead the way." She finished.

"I am very proud of her. She has gone through a lot already and she is only a few weeks old. I decided to hold the ceremony on board as the crew have all been fantastic." She paused as they went over to where Lek was standing.

"This is Lieutenant Lek one of our Engineers and our resident Ferengi. He's a good officer but he has some decided backwards opinions regarding women." She said in a low voice as they approached him.

"Mr Lek. I would like to introduce you to Dr Moors, a civilian scientist who has just joined us." She said in a more normal volume.

"I can only imagine." Bonnie replied. "The crew seems to all be very friendly, all I did was sit and watch and I could tell." Bonnie followed Lizzie towards the Ferengi. 'This is going to be interesting.' Bonnie thought to herself as they stopped before Lek. Bonnie smiled and nodded at the Ferengi.

As Bonnie stood and listened to Lizzie introduced herself, she almost felt unsafe around the Ferengi because he couldn't hear his thoughts. The Ferengi weren't known for being the most truthful race, and Bonnie didn't claim to be always truthful, but she couldn't lie as much as the Ferengi's could, she'd feel bad afterwards.

"Its good to meet you, Lek. I don't see many Ferengi in star fleet. So tell me, what made you join? I thought everything was about making profit with the Ferengi." Bonnie finished.

Rhymus raised a brow at his lack of introduction. What was he, chopped liver? But as the two approached, he offered a generous smile and introduced himself.

"Crewman Rhymus Cleroux, Third class Petty Officer if you want to be specific. I do my best to handle most Security and Tactical concerns aboard this ship. Welcome aboard the Challenger, Doctor Moors."

Let's heart almost sang as the beautiful new feemale started a conversation with and allowing him to break contact with the nattering crewman.

"Fascinating crewmen, very enlightening."

Lek turned and grabbed a glass of champagne to hand to her. "Doctor Bonnie Moors, such a lovely name, most fitting for such a lovely owner." He said smiling, what he considered his most sincere smile, but it looked more carnivorous than attractive.

"As far as I know, there are only two of my species in Starfleet, my role model and trailblazer Captain Nog and myself. My reasons for joining Starfleet are not complex. I know my species is not well regarded, but Captain Nog has done marvels to break the stereotypes associated with my race. I always respected his efforts and felt that I wanted to follow in his footsteps.

"Profit is what drives most of my fellow Ferengi, but evolution is a slow process. Grand Nagus Zek tried too much to fast and ultimately failed to bring about the changes he tried to install, but it was a step. I have more than learned the merits of feemales, so I am more progressive than most of my kind and given the chance to continue our association, you will see how open minded I am."

"Do try and keep the drool off your uniform, Lieutenant. The festivities have hardly begun."

Lek, Mr Cleroux, and Lizzie had now been joined by a fourth crewperson; overhearing Lizzie's introduction, this new person was apparently a civilian scientist.  Seeing Lek becoming agitated, Martin walked toward the group with his usual smile (somewhat brightened further by the baby in his arms).  While he shifted his attention to the newcomer and the growing agitation of Lek, he made sure to keep Alys held firmly but gently, with her tiny head well-supported.

Martin's expertise in physical fitness took over his initial impression of the new addition.  She was quite a tall lady, though still almost a head shorter than himself, and probably weighed a little more than half as much as he did.  Actually, she was quite a bit on the slender side; probably at least a little underweight, for her height, though not enough to create health problems.  She would need to take care against losing weight, though.  Martin had a dim awareness that she was quite pretty, but issues of health tended to come into his mind well before aesthetics.

Smiling warmly, he walked into the group.  "And how's everything going over here?" he asked, trying to break up the developing atmosphere.  Turning to the new woman, he transfered Alys to the crook of one big arm and extended his hand.  "Martin Jackson, nice to meet you, ma'am."

"May I have my Daughter back please?" She asked in a semi-serious tone. I find I am missing her too much and the ceremony will beginning shortly.

Before Bonnie could reply to the Ferengi, her attention was turned to the man stood next to him. She could feel confusion, maybe a little anger. Bonnie smiled at the man. "We apologise for missing you." Bonnie paused briefly. "It's nice to meet you, Rhymus, thank you for the welcome and I look forward to working with you all in some capacity." Bonnie then turned her attention back to the Ferengi as he answers her question.

Bonnie took the champagne out of his hands and thanked him, taking a sip and then listening to the conversation. She smiled and simply said "thank you." when he complimented her name. Bonnie smiled back at his rather interesting attempt at a smile, holding off commenting on it.

Rhymus could do nothing but smile at the Ferengi.

"Do try and keep the drool off your uniform, Lieutenant. The festivities have hardly begun."

Lek gave Cleroux a basilisk-like stare and nodded with his head with an unmistakable meaning.

"Get lost Hewmon!"

Bonnie watched the exchange of words between Rhymus and Lek, grinning slightly and taking a sip of the champagne. Her attention turned to the man coming towards them.

"Doctor Bonnie Moors. Likewise, it's always nice to see another friendly face." Bonnie took the hand and shook it. "So, what department are you in, Martin?" Bonnie finished.

Before answering Bonnie, Martin carefully took Alys and handed her back to her mother.  "Back to Mommy," he cooed to the baby as the transfer was made.  Soon, he would have to take his place for the ceremony... but there was still a little sliver of time to socialize first.

Turning to Bonnie again, he answered, "Operations, mostly.  You're going to be working with the Science department, right?"

Bonnie looked at the little girl and smiled. "She's a pretty little one, isn't she." Bonnie said, watching the transfer between Martin to Lizzie. Her attention turned back to Martin shortly after.

Bonnie nodded to his question. "Before, I worked as a general practitioner on Earth, I got the offer and at first didn't want to take it. I don't particularly like a change of scenery and this was a massive one, but someone must've talked some sense into me. The opportunity was something I couldn't pass on, even if I'm only on here for a few months." Bonnie finished, taking another sip of the champagne given to her earlier, then looking at the glass to see how much was left. She'd drunk about half of it in the past few minutes. 'Maybe I could endure this if I drunk some more- no. That's probably a bad idea." she thought to herself.

Let's expression was stony as he stepped away from the gathering around the youngling and frowned as he thought.

"I should not be surprised by these Hewmon males guarding a feemale from a Ferengi. There is a reason I don't socialize with members of my crew. I came to support Doctor Vaughn and I will do so, but there is little other point in me staying. When the ceremony is over I will go."
