As an aside, I have a Halfling Rogue I play in D&D called Bilby Boffin.   And until Ian Galloway started using the term Boffin I had no idea it was anything other than a silly sounding name.

From what I've read, it was considered a term of respect during World War Two for scientists and code breakers. I could not find any insult attached to its use.
