Mr. Chen,

Your 'cover job' on this freighter can read 'I.T. Specialist' or 'Personnel Resource Manager.'  Both are good covers for someone who is either good with technology infiltration techniques or the creation of false identities.

I'm trending towards civilian terminology like 'Doctor' instead of 'Medical Officer' so that our nomenclature gives us distinction from Starfleet.

Hey there Mahak.

If you are a Starfleet character, I'm not sure it will work for you to be on a civilian freighter crewed by shady characters?

There would seem to be some connective tissue missing.

Perhaps it would be easier to construct a new character for this sim?

Hello Mahak,

My understanding is that your character is a Starfleet Enlisted personnel serving on a Starfleet vessel.

Soon, I will be integrating you on a ship of criminals, outcasts, and rebels working for an underworld figure.

I just need a way to connect A to B when writing you into the story.  There needs to be just enough backstory so that it can be explained why you are on this ship.  In the case of a Starfleet officer serving in Starfleet, the backstory and connection are obvious.  One does not wonder why a man in the navy is assigned to a navy post, so to speak.  But in a civilian sim, there is no such reasoning available.  It becomes natural to ask who this person is, and why they are here.  A Starfleet crewman reporting for duty on a civilian freighter is an odd event with no other information provided. 

I am advised that bios are not required on Featured Sims, as they are short duration. And so no biography can be required of you. But the introduction of the character and the writing of interactions with them will be less awkward if there is a common frame of reference.

Solluk, one note:

Often times Featured Simms take place in an alternate reality, so whatever the "normal" jobs of a crew are on the site do not apply. Example, Mahak appeared in the NX simm. It's not the same mahak, but a character with the same name. The two don't coexist, so the fact that he's starfleet now shouldn't be an issue, in my mind.
