Hello,

Because there is no CGI model of the Probert design yet, and may not be for weeks, I am operating on the assumption we will be using a stand-in vessel for the featured sim.  Then, if we are picked up for series, the CGI for the hero ship should be ready by then.  Fortunately, the artists at Deviantart have created conjectural freighter designs that may suit our purpose.

Makara Class Freighter
Length: 80 meters
Width: 25 meters
Depth: 20 meters
Decks: 7
Crew Complement: 1 (Minimum) 10 (Recommended)
Passenger Space: Up to 20 with Optional Passenger Module
Cargo space: 7,200 Cubic Meters with Cargo Module

Weapons: 8 Type VII Ball Turret Phaser Emitters for Piracy Deterrence (One per bank)

Performance: Warp 6 (Standard), Warp 8 (Max Sustainable), Warp 8.7 for 6 Hours (Emergency)

Brief:  The Makara Class Transport was designed to compete with the aging Antares class freighters which proliferated Federation space from the late 23rd to late 24th century.  The design was licensed to a number of civilian shipyards, which produced the new class alongside the older Antares class.  Both the Makara and Antares found service in Starfleet's logistical branch, but were more commonly seen in civilian merchant fleets and in the logistical service of Federation allies and neutral governments.

Sporting a high sustainable warp velocity and four bussard collectors (two primary within the nacelles and two auxiliaries in the main hull), the Makara's speed and fuel efficiency makes it favored among freighter Captains who need to make long hauls.  Its battery of phasers ensures that it is well equipped to handle light pirate raiders and other hazards of criminal or contested territories, with a power output unlikely to bother government peacekeepers in more peaceful areas.

The Makara class is now past the 30th anniversary of its debut and entering the 10th series of updates for the class.  It continues to be a respected performer in the mid-bulk cargo category of the civilian freighter market.  Used models are able to be found at a good price in most locations.  Reliability, even with original series-1 variants, remains high.

Embarked Craft:

Thruster Shuttlepod - Often used as inspection pods at starbase facilities, this style of old shuttlepod has antigravity and thrusters. It has no impulse drive and no warp power.  It can seat up to six people (if they like each other a great deal) for short-duration trips, or fewer people and a small amount of cargo.  The vessel can operate in an atmosphere or in space, but can not survive the transition into or out of orbit.  It has no shields, no weapons, and no deflectors.
