[Bridge]

Kirok walked out onto the Bridge.  As he neared his seat, a hail came in.  "On screen" he said.

The image of Vice Admiral Casas appeared on the screen.  "Admiral Kirok, good to see you in one piece.  We are nearing the agreed upon destination" he said.

"Very well, we will see you shortly" Kirok replied.  "End transmission.  Please have essential Bridge crew report in and prepare to depart" the half Vulcan said.

"Hell no!" She exclaimed. "Well not right now... I don't know." She sighed again. "I've got the relevant technical experience to go the academy, but I just don't see myself going, I also don't see myself fetching tea and coffee for the entirety of my stint in the CIC." She sat upwards in her seat. "If I like it here I'd certainly think about specializing as a permanent CIC crewman, or officer as the times dictate. But for now I think I just want my petty officer pins."

"Wait is people are making you get coffee."  Ser stood up at these words.  It was an archaic practice.  a play dominance over another.  It did helped the team only the individual.

"I'm sorry, this is not how I want this department run.  You maybe on the low man on the totem pole, but your contributions to this team have been valuable."  Ser took a second to look outside his office.  He was going have to call a meeting about this.  He sat back down in his chair.

"As for your promotion, that will come in time.  The captain is the type of person who give you something when your ready."  He said.

"I offer to do it don't get me wrong. What I mean is I don't want to stay a crewman forever." She leaned back.

"As you know crewmen sign on for two years. I spent five months at the technical services academy and I've been in the fleet for about three months, I've been getting messages from the fleet personnel officer about my intention after my contract expires." She paused.

"I don't really know what to reply, they sent me several generic contracts I could renew. I need time to digest whether I like working the CIC but they've offered me a technical specialist contract in the CIC. So they couldn't yo-yo me around departments and ships."

[Sickbay]

Ariste paused her work as her PADD chimed, and she sighed. It seemed she never got a rest.
Flipping it out of her toolbox, she scanned over the instructions, before flashing an exhausted grin at the Crewman. "Duty calls, sorry." She excused, before slipping out of sickbay, and into the nearest turbolift. It just never ended, did it? She must've done laps around the ship by now, running around to fix every little thing possible. And to make things more exhausting, she was temporarily in charge of Engineering while Conwell took care of "some things", whatever that meant. Taking a deep breath, she concluded to take a moment to create an organized schedule for everything that needed fixed and recalibrated for the Engineering department after she got a minute to herself.

Before she got to the Cargo bay, she made the stop ordered to create a PADD with all personnel names alphabetically categorized. Downloading it to the PADD, she grabbed a few other PADDs from Engineering on her way down, and copied the exact same list onto them, for whoever else was to report down there.

[Cargo Bay Three]

Proceeding to her original destination, she was unsurprised to see a few Crewmen and Officers milling about, no doubt preparing for the task ahead of them. Her eyes moved over toward EQ, a fellow yellowshirt. Nodding to him in greeting, she mouthed a 'hello', recognizing him from the earlier meeting. Flipping through her PADDs, counting how many copies she had made, she figured she could spare one if he was here to help with the evacuation.

Approaching, she flashed him a grin, eyes sparkling. "Hey, Kimball. What brings you down to this chaos?" She queried, before flipping one of the PADDs so the screen was facing the man. "If you're here helping out with the Evacuation, you'll need a list of names to check for people. I don't think that'll be too much of a worry though."

[Cargo Bay]

"Oh, hey" EQ replied.  "Good idea.  How many have left so far?" he asked as me walked over to a duty station to make himself a list.

[Bridge]
Ardyn nodded at James's request.   Her main shift at the Helm wouldn't really start for a while, so she was pretty set. She caught sight of the Borg Ops officer at the far side of the bridge. Quickly catching up with EQ, she asked.

[Cargo Bay]

"Sure" EQ replied.  He handed the list he had made off.  Then he made another for himself.

"Yeah I'll get a refill." She said indicating the mug she'd been drinking from before.

"I mean I like the department, I loving how small it is and how informal everything is." She placed her empty mug into the replicator. "White tea, hot."

[Chief CIC Office]

Ser stood waiting for the replicator to do it's work , and gingerly sipped at his tea.

"Actually, I was thinking of something a little different for you, if you wanted to stay that is."  He took another quick sip, keeping his eyes. No the crewman.

"We get a lot data streaming through here as you know.  I'm going to need an assistant.  Someone to be my 'funnel' if you will.   Compiling reports, hand out my orders when necessary, etc.". He set his cup down and moved back to his chair. The synthetic material gave very little under Ser weight. He just have to break it in just like his department.

"And If it helps, I can tell you that there still some piloting involved.  But If you want to fly.  Actually, I was gonna ask if you want to take part in the evacuation mission.  We could use a good pilot on the delta flyer?"  He waited for her reaction.  Ser knew more of the young crewman, then he did on the Discovery.

"Don't get me wrong, I don't mind working the CIC. I just need to decide whether I like it or not." She took a quick gulp from her mug.

"If you want a yeoman I don't mind, I like the idea of flying a little but I'm not desperate to go back full time, I want to see how the CIC works out." She leaned against the wall.

"It's a bit late to join the evacuation now isn't it? We'll be controlling the shuttles in a few minutes?"

[Bridge]

Kirok left eyebrow arched slightly.  He was hesitant to spare any of the senior staff for an Away Team mission.  Especially when they were heading into yet another vital mission that would move them closer to potentially finishing the war with Section 31.

But part of this overall mission was exploration.  Both in regard to the universal as a whole, but in matters of science and the other departments as well.  And being near the Columbus would offer the Away Team a level of protection, even if the Shran was not nearby.

"Very well.  I will allow it.  Please take Ms. Jaeger and Mr. Kimball and T'Ra and Sevoc.  And if Revek can spare Ms. Reede, perhaps her as well" Kirok said.

Shortly after the meeting which Alex had attended but simply observed and remained silent, he received a message from his new Cardassian Department Head.

=/\= On my way, sir. =/\=

Alex responded as he turned on his heel and headed to the Sec/Tac Office. He had had a lot to think about since the incident with Sloan. While he was secretly working for Sloan, he was having serrious doubts about remaining on his side after he was nearly killed, allbeit indirectly by Sloan.

"You wanted to see me, sir?" Alex asked when he entered the Security Office.

[Deck 9 - Sec/Tac Office]

Revek eyes snapped to the man who entered his office. "Ahh, yes, Mr. Harmon. Take a seat," he said, motioning towards the chair next to Lieutenant Reede and then turning his eyes back to his console. While waiting for the two officers that had arrived so far to show up he had been reading over their service records again. Harmon being a part of Intelligence amuse the Cardassian. They always think they're so sly.

Pulling his eyes away from the console, the Chief of Security looked at Reede and Harmon in turn before addressing the pair. "I had hoped to wait for Ms. Kane but we have work to do. As you're both aware I am the new Chief of Security and Tactical and as such your boss. I don't particularly care how your other Chiefs have run things in the past, you now live by my standards. I expect nothing but excellence from everyone in this department and that starts with my officers," he said motioning towards the two.

"Whatever you choose to do on your own time, I don't particularly care so long as it does not affect your credibility, ability to do this job, or create a conflict of interest." Revek ended this statement with a pointed look at Alex and paused before continuing, still looking at the younger man. "While you are on duty you belong to me, and by extension to the Captain and First Officer."

Slowly, he pulled his gaze away from Ensign Harmon and began speaking to the pair properly again. "Finally, I expect you to carry yourselves as professionals at all times, on and off duty. You are a reflection of myself, the ship, and most importantly the Captain. Do not tarnish his name." Revek paused for emphasis before continuing, "Finally, I am not here to hold your hand. If you desire promotion or recognition of any kind you are to be your own advocate. Own your careers. If you don't then they will stagnate. Are there any questions before we move on to the situation at hand?" During his little speech, Revek's tone had never drifted from his usual dry monotone, but as he asked his question he did so in such a way as to deter questions.

Revek calmly looked up from the console on his desk as Reede spoke. After remaining silent for a moment, he responded, "Lieutenant, I do believe I asked you to report here with two others." The Cardassian made a mild show of looking around before continuing. "I do not see them. Do not make a habit of disobeying my orders. I give them for specific reasons. Now please sit," he finished, motioning towards a chair in front of his desk.

Without waiting for Reede to respond, Revek tapped his comm badge.

=/\= Ensigns Kane and Harmon, please report to the Sec/Tac office immediately. Lieutenant Tre'el out =/\=

Looking back at his officer, Revek slowly blinked several times before speaking. "The message could mean any number of things." He took a long pause while maintaining eye contact with Reede before continuing. "All of them irrelevant. Admiral Kirok is our Captain. Either you trust him and continue to serve him or you request transfer. You will speak no more of this 'ghost message,' is that clear Lieutenant?" The look on Revek's face made it clear he wasn't asking a real question but still expected an answer.

The order to sit was unexpected. The disregard for her concern about getting a mysterious message that could be important was disrupting to her sense of self-confidence. She'd spoken with respect as one would to their superior. LK's ire was raised even further when Lt. Tre'el comm'd Kane and Harmon to arrive since she'd already done that.

AND she'd wanted to inform the chief of security of her message BEFORE the others had arrived. Was he just a jerk? She asked herself.

Ensign Harmon arrived just then. LK nodded at him when he sat but didn't speak. Somehow she thought she'd be reprimanded if she did. A useless thought since she'd obviously not been tossed out of the security detail.

Well, it looks like I still have a job, LK thought, trying hard not to show any emotions - like relief.

He was right, of course. LK was a jg now. No reason she couldn't push herself into the full lieutenant category. It had always been up to her to decide whether to remain stagnate or to climb the ranks. And climb she would. No matter the Cardassian methods of leading.

But there would be often  in the coming days that she would want a spider back in charge. Maybe

Her lieutenant knew something she didn't and she was curious enough to wonder. She thought of a couple of questions but it seemed a question wasn't wanted. So she sat silent, not looking at Harmon.

Revek was about to continue when the FO hit his door chime. What now, he thought as called out, "Come in." At a guess, the Cardassian thought the FO was either going to ask him something about his ability to do his job or to borrow one of his people. Neither question was particularly appealing to him but neither could be helped either. "What can I do for you, Sir?"
