Fleeters,

It is that time of year again!

Time to start planning for our next SIMM and we need your help in choosing which class of ship to go with.

The new ship will likely launch around February 1.  And I will be the Command Officer.  And I'm looking for a ship that is a bit more battle ready than the ones we currently have on our site to help set it apart from the rest.

The Athena is a light explorer and is 342.5 long.
The Discovery is a heavy cruiser and is 464.43 long.
The Tempest is an explorer and is 642.51 long.

As such, I have a few classes to propose as shown above.  Each of the classes were supposedly commissioned between 2390 and 2410.  So it could be argued that a prototype or a commissioned ship would be available to us in 2395!

The Odyssey Class is a Battlecruiser.  It is the mid sized choice among the three (~L1000, W350, D93, w 28 Decks).  And it has saucer separation ability, and an auxiliary escort ship that docks to the outer hull instead of being stored in the hanger.

As such, it would be somewhat like a Prometheus class ship.  It would allow the ship to separate into three different ships and attack independently.  Here is a link if you would like to know more about it (scroll to bottom of screen for details):  http://lcars.ucip.org/index.php?title=Odyessy_Class.

Here is an image of it:

The Typhoon Class is a Battleship.  It is the smallest of the three choices (L985, W329, D89, w 32 Decks).  Here is link to give you more information about it:  http://lcars.ucip.org/index.php?title=Typhoon_Class.

Here is a picture of it:

The Atlas Class is a Defensive ship.  It is the largest of the three (L1008, W366, D144, w 40 Decks).  You can find more information about it here (it is the second class listed:  http://www.treknology.org/future1.htm.

Please cast your vote and let us know what you think.

Respectfully,

Kirok

PS - We will also need a name for our shiny new ship.  So please post your ideas below.

Ooh... let's see
U.S.S.  Trancendence
U.S.S.  Oberon
U.S.S.  Vigilant (or Vigilance)
U.S.S.  Keystone
U.S.S. Watchman
U.S.S.  Zion
U.S.S.  Azimuth

I'm not sure if any of these are canon or not, but they sound cool. And I've only just got started.

We're in Starfleet here. Weird is part of the job description.

I love love LOVE "Keystone." I'm a Pennsylvania man, after all. I'm going to revoke all of my would be suggestions and put all my eggs in the USS Keystone basket.

USS KEYSTONE

Kali Reyes

USS Nexus
USS Hyperion
USS Andromeda
USS Pohshautra (Means firefight in Vulcan)

I'm just gonna throw "U.S.S. Shran" out there again. What about a Sovereign class? Has one of those been played in Shadow Fleet yet?

Ooooh my favourite time of year.

I like Interceptor (in fact I named the Mirrorverse ship that and my ships in STO that) BUT I think Interceptor suits smaller, faster ships than big cruisers like these. I also personally would rather not name it after States or cities either but that's just my opinion.

I like Shran and think it could suit these ships.
My suggestions:

USS Victory. Named after the famous HMS Victory and something that suits a ship like the Odessey (which is winning by a lot already)

USS Indefatigable
USS Indominable
USS Invincible
USS Vanguard
USS Nelson
USS Duckworth (This guy was a British Admiral and I just couldn't resist mentioning his name)
USS Hood
USS Ushakov (or Pytor Ushakov)

The first four were the names giving to several ships in the Royal Navy and the Indefatigable was in the movie my face claim is from. The last four are all historical admirals, though Duckworth is mostly a joke because I'm a bit immature.

Thanks! I rather like Keystone too.

USS Shran and USS Hyperion are my other favorites so far.

Jettis Jyur

The USS Cthulu or the USS Kraken, because when I saw the first picture I thought 'that looks like some kind of weird futuristic squid monster. Plus, when she gets launched, everybody can yell "RELEASE THE KRAKEN"

USS Defiance
USS Bounty
USS Oberon (I know Kinley already suggested it, but I really love this one)
USS Ingenuity (it's just really fun to say)
USS Cherubim or Nephilim
USS Virtue
USS Vagabond
USS Ambition
USS Cromwell
USS Rampart
USS Harlequin
USS Auriga
USS Orion
USS Chalcedony

Shran would be a great one too!!!
He was a Warrior and a Diplomat!
And it easy to pronounce and spell ;-)
I would vote for it!

Seriously though we need to do the Shran this time. Third try's a charm, right?

It seems like USS Shran is the popular choice!

The Phoenix was a Sovereign class.
