Updated Promotion Criteria

I hope you are preparing to enjoy the Holiday season!

While you are, the CLOs & SRs have been at work updating the promotion criteria.

In short to make it easier to get a promotion!

So, without further ado, here they are:

Promotion Criteria
Enlisted Promotions

Once a player reaches the enlisted rate of Petty Officer Third Class, things start to become more difficult and once the rate of Petty Officer Third Class is reached, the Enlisted Persons Course must be passed before promotion to Petty Officer Second Class occurs. See also: Senior Enlisted Commanders.

Rank Criteria

Crewman

Starting rank for enlisted characters.

Petty Officer Third Class

30 posts, 1 missions contributed.

Petty Officer Second Class

60 posts, 2-3 months OCC/mission contributed & demonstrates teamwork.  Must pass EPC.

Petty Officer First Class

125 posts, 4-5 months OCC/mission contributed & demonstrates teamwork.

Chief Petty Officer

250 posts, 6 months OCC/mission contributed & demonstrates teamwork

Senior Chief Petty Officer

500 posts, 7-9 months OCC/mission contribution.  Documented teamwork (with no in/formal complaints).  Must pass COTC.

Master Chief Petty Officer

Promotion to MCPO is at the discretion of the the Fleet Commanding Officer, in consultation with the the Shadow Fleet Council, and will only be made after careful review activity levels, posting frequency, overall contribution to fleet, demonstration of teamwork, and absence of any in/formal complaints..

Commissioned Officer Promotions

Promotions up to Lieutenant are usually automatic, providing a player does nothing to jeopardize them. However, this is entirely at the Academy Tutor's and Commanding Officer's discretion. Promotion past Lieutenant is based on merit, posting standard and overall contribution to the SIMM. In order to be promoted to Commander and/or be appointed to a command position, a player must first complete the Command Officer Training Course (COTC).

Rank Criteria

Ensign

Starting rank.  Must pass OTC

Lieutenant (Junior Grade)

60 posts, 2-3 months OCC/mission contributed & demonstrates teamwork

Lieutenant

125 posts, 4-5 months OCC/mission contributed & demonstrates teamwork.

Lieutenant Commander

250 posts, 6 months OCC/mission contributed & demonstrates teamwork.

Commander

500 posts, 7-9 months OCC/mission contribution.  Documented teamwork (with no in/formal complaints).  Must pass COTC.

Captain

Promotion to Captain is at the discretion of the the Fleet Commanding Officer, in consultation with the the Shadow Fleet Council, and will only be made after careful review activity levels, posting frequency, overall contribution to fleet, demonstration of teamwork, and absence of any in/formal complaints.

Rear Admiral (Lower Half) and above

Rear Admiral (Lower Half) and above: Promotion to Flag Officer rank is made by the Fleet Commanding Officer in consultation with the Fleet Admiralty. Only exceptional players, will reach this position. All admiralty promotions are subject to a three month probationary period.
