The Discovery carries the standard weapons compliment aboard Federation starships. This is as follows:

• Type 2 handheld phasers
• Type 3 phaser rifles
• Type 3 phased sniper rifles
• Phaser compression rifles
• Isomagnetic Disintegrators

Type 2 Phaser A type 2 phaser is a typical hand-held, directed-energy weapon used by Starfleet and United Federation of Planets personnel. More powerful and generally larger in size than the type-1 phaser, type-2 phasers are kept aboard Starfleet and Federation starships, starbases, space stations and at planetary facilities.

Type 3 Phaser Rifle The type 3 is a rifle variation of the standard phaser used by the Federation. 24th century phaser rifles have sixteen power settings, fully-autonomous recharge capability, multiple-target acquisition, and gyro-stabilization. They are slightly less powerful than Cardassian phase-disruptor rifles, and are considered by some to be less effective as a field weapon due to their complexity, despite being more powerful than the standard phaser.

Type 3 Phased Sniper Rifle The type 3 phased sniper rifle is a modified version of the type 3 phaser rifle, designed specifically for the Starfleet Marine Corps. The rifle features a 3x magnification scope with three beam settings: stun, kill and vaporize. A standard power cell can release approximately thirty shots on 'stun' setting, fifteen on 'kill', and five on 'vaporize'.

Phaser Compression Rifle Phaser compression rifles are one of the most powerful personnel-carried weapons in the Starfleet arsenal and are an alternative to the type-3 phaser rifle. These powerful weapons are assigned to starships that could possibly see intense close-quarters or surface combat.

Isomagnetic Disintegrator The isomagnetic disintegrator is a shoulder-mounted weapon similar to an ancient Human bazooka. It fires a pulse of phased energy causing a large explosion on impact.
