It's always a confirmation. If that answer was no, they'd just say no.

It's like listening to workplace chatter.

Basically means yes.

This Special Mission takes place in the JJ Abrams Star Trek Universe, which is outside of what is considered true Star Trek Canon. Therefore, whatever happens during this mission will have no effect or bearing on the current Simms running.
