Eydis born to the bytorian clan is a skilled martial artist , excelling in physical duels, This partial comes from her getting into many a scuffle in her youth. She was a bash and confident youth. Relying on her abilities and bold take action attitude to carry the day.
She like the rest of her world was unended when first contact had been made. The realization that the hydra were not alone in the universe , and how large it was the community of species.

Only the boldest and fiercest of her species were amongst the warriors of her people. And so when the officer exchange program was extended to her people. It was mainly those in the warrior caste who took up the offer. The risk of the unknown enthralled many of the volunteers while the shadow of fear lurked in the mind

Eydis had been one of the many selected by her planets ruling council to take part in the officer exchange program to foster a growing relationship between her people and the Federation. Her species had just made first contact with the federation.
She sat in her spartan like quarters staring out the vastness of space just outside of the opaque window. The rather hot and humid air kept her skin well hydrate and wet. A resting pool of water was located in the center of the room. A heated basking rock was along one of the side of the room near the window. The room was illuminated by a bioluminescent moss with a bluish glow that was growing on all the wall, ceiling and floor of the room. She would shift a little on the rocks surface and look down at the moss carpet, her gaze unfocused and lost in the moss.
Soon she would arrive at the starbase that the exchange would take place at in a less than a few days' time. Her emotions were in a sort of disarray, it was as new of experience for her as it was for the others who had been selected to take part in it. She would get up and head towards the sliding door and into the hallway. The bluish glow of the moss in the hallway revealed her friend was already heading towards her door. She would flash her 6 bioluminescent nodules on her in a varied in frequency and color pattern greeting of treasured friend, Her friend would return the bioluminescent display. She saw the top nodules which displayed the base emotion of the individual as concern a yellowish hue to her eyes. She could not hide her own purple colored baseline emotion of nervousness from her friend. But she would attempt to convey her steadfast commitment to the exchange to her friend. A flurry of bioluminescent flashes messages, along with a guttural warbling from her friend would assure her of the importance of the exchange. She would chuff a bit as a human might sigh and respond with a message of how much Nurlians friendship had meant to her. Nurlian would stop and twinge of sadness in the form of a baby blue would glow from the top nodules. She was going to miss her childhood friend Eydis greatly, but she wanted her friend to experience the greater universe and the federation as a whole. The exchange was a key stone in the foundation of the relationship of the hyrda people with the united federation of planets. The hydra had just stepped into the proverbial adolescent learning center. The undiscovered country now lay ahead and the first steps taken,
Additional information:
The hydra are a reptile like, biologically theoretical immortal species. Every one to two years a hydra goes through a regeneration process called the Cycle where every single cell in their body dies and then immediately after regenerates. It's a very painful and slow process since all the cells need to be regenerated in certain order and speed so that the individual will survive the Cycle. The older a hydra is, the longer and thus more painful the process will be. During the Cycle hydra are in a very vulnerable state and thus they usually travel back to their homeworld or a well-fortified starship built for the individuals to go through their Cycle's in peace.

During the Cycle hydra can regenerate lost limbs, heal scars and cure diseases, but this greatly increases the pain level and the Cycle's length. Hydra have only a handful of life-threatening diseases, and most of them affect the regeneration process, making it too strong or weak for the hydra to survive. Outwards the Cycle looks similar to amphibian skin shedding; as the skin tissue renegerates it leaves a slimy substance behind, which sheds off after a while. The new skin behind is a dramatically lighter than the old one, but the skin will fully get back it's shiny black gloss in one or two months.

The hydra are a young species both in terms of their being evolved and space faring warp capable species. Beside theoretical immortality (( a hard thing to measure and to achieve as even the hydra can contract fatal diseases the older they get )). The hydra speak with bio-luminescence Nodules located behind what would be the jawline of most humanoids. The top one indicates the overall base line mood of the individual. This make its nearly impossible for them to deceiver anyone because they can't now falsify their emotions which are evident to all. The can make guttural warbling and chirping sounds so are not technically mute, yet these sounds are not the primary way of communication. More or less it seems to unconstrained emotions spilling over such as the urge to laugh.

They also have a mild capability for electrical discharge nothing more then a built up static shock but still painful. This plays into the hydras final defense a mild neural toxin they secrete over their skin which renders most paralyzed and in a state of Euphoria it can be tad addictive and a mild sedative and ability to speed up wound healing. This toxin serves not only to keep the hydra health and help them heal each other but to render the natural predators on their small most aquatic home world docile allowing for their escape.

Hydra lore is based around a water goddess with similarities to ancient Egyptian mythology, this is not to say they are a heavily religious. The hydra world government is a sort of representative Republic of each clans having a equal say in the laws, in times of war or great struggle a elected leader is appointed to speed up the reaction and action of the ruling body. Some internal strife does still exist among the various clans and impedes the governing council a bit as a result.

Laws are very similar to federation ones and some corruption in the government officials and the like does exist, however the law enforcement is generally viewed in a positive manner with as little corruption as capable. The weaponary of the hydra seem to be very close to the Goa'uld with staff like energy weapons and zat guns both less powerful then a phaser but good enough. Most of the hyrdas tech and ships lag years behind the federations own, and are more functional for them.

The hydra as a race overall are not notable hostile or ill mannered with some exceptions to ever rule being observed. Deception is not well known or practiced among the hydra as result of their own biology. The total population of hydra numbers around 16 million individuals spread across the four primary continents of their home world which is roughly 2/3s the size of earth. The last internal conflict or war was costly to the hydra as whole as they are not a race that can easily recover from a loss in its population. The general mood of the hydra population upon first contact and the federation is still fearful but willing to cooperate. The general population still is weary of the intergalatic community as whole, resulting in very few hydra ships leaving their own system and traveling to others. The unified defending force of the hydra is not a great military powerhouse with just enough ships to patrol their own space.

The hydra simple do not possess the numbers to be a great military power in the universe, this is not to say the homeworld would be easily conquered. They seek membership from the federation to protect themselves, deciding to go with the largest power they have encounter in the galaxy as whole. The hydra will send ships to aid the federation kinda of like the u.k might in present day earth do the same with the u.s

Character Bio:A tholian Drone selected by the assembly to be sent as observer in part of new dialogue with the federation. Eydis arrived in orbit of starbase Columbus with the impeccable timing of her race. She came alone in a tholian Web spinner Ship, arriving in sensor range of the Columbus.

Very little individual details exist to distinguish eydis from rest of the warrior caste. Eydis does have a more reddish hue to her carapace then other indiviuals and eydis eyes seem to be more wild then others glowing a faint tone brighter then most.

A odd note is Eydis seems to have developed a personal taste for Music, as once eydis was given limited access was what she went to the most and was logged searching through on multiple instances.

Eydis reason for joining was promptly summarized in a short sentence. " I was selected by the assembly " It would appear eydis shares her species distaste for other species, But at some degree seems to be tolerant of others. Sample Post:. Eydis would raise a communication link with the starbase Columbus upon hir arrival in the sector. As the visual communication link was opened with the starbase a sharp series of clicks and chirps emanated from hir. A Vulcan officers face had appear on comm link. Her annoyance was evident at least to her species in her curt statement to follow. " I have arrive in the sector and Will be at the starbase at the agreed upon time, Further communication will then begin " And observer of eydis could almost assume that the tholian had felt some satisifation at seeing the Vulcans bemused expression and response as the comm was cut.
Even with the first liaison of the tholian scientist aboard the same starbase distrust among the tholian was still high as ever. These first steps towards what was one of the harsher looking undiscovered countries was fraught with a certain level of fragility. Steps were cautious and slow between the two and everything had to go according to plan as not to alarm either side.
Eydis hirself could not possibly understand how that lowly scientist could stand being aboard on of the federations starbase. Shi still harbored a sense of caste superiority over the scientist and reasoned that such fraternization was only possible because of how low the scientist caste was. To nosy and always wanting to push forward and change things.
Shi also placed the blame for this squarely on the politician caste and scientist caste, this upheaval was directed result of that horrid curiosity of the scientist caste. Now shi had been sent to further this morbid curiosity that some of the assembly held towards the waterbags
