Space Station Katra
'To unpathed waters, undreamed shores'
CLASSIFICATION
Name: Katra Station
Designation: G-3
Class: Frontier
Type: Swift-Deployable Modular Outpost

SPECIFICATIONS:
Length: 780 Meters
Width: 790 Meters
Height: 325 Meters
Central Hull Diameter: 375 meters

Number of Decks: 30 habitation decks totaling 123 meters, with an average deck height of 2.5 meters, with 1.5 meters devoted to between-deck 'Jeffries' maintenance corridors and .1 meter (ten centimeters) of duranium plating separating and reinforcing deck sections.  Much of the station height is comprised of non-inhabited subspace sensor and communications apparatus.

Hull Identification Device: HID-65487-684-SB-Purple

ARMOR/SHIELDS:
Hull: Duranium hull plating over duranium-tritanium structural members
Standard Shield: Deflector shields (9 layer asymmetrical subspace graviton bubble)

ENGINES/PERFORMANCE

RCS System: Several RCS thrusters, used to maintain orbit around planetary bodies or small micromanuvers.

Power Generation: Theoretical Propulsion Group Standard Matter/Antimatter Reaction Drive adapted for Station usage.

Secondary Power Generation: 16 Fusion Reactors

Maximum Acceleration: 5 m/s2 at maximum RCS burn

Crew Complement: 450 [785] (150 Officers, 300 Enlisted, plus 335 Civilians in permanent residence)

Maximum Occupancy (Excluding Residents): 500 visitors standard, up to 1500 visitors in emergency refuge situations

TRANSPORTERS
Number of Systems: 18
Personnel Transporters: 6 (Transporter Rooms 1-6 - each with 3 transporter stations)
Max Payload Mass: 900kg (1,763 lbs)
Max Range: 42,000 km
Max Beam Up/Out Rate: Approximately 130 persons/hour

Cargo Transporters: 4
Max Payload Mass: 850 metric tons. Standard operation is molecular resolution (Non-Lifeform).
Set for quantum (lifeform) resolution: 1.2 metric tons
Max Beam Up/Out Rate (Quantum Setting): Approx. 100 persons per hour per Transporter

Emergency Transporters: 6
Max Range: 15,000 km (send only) [range depends on available power]
Max Beam Out Rate: 200 persons per hour per Transporter (800 persons per hour with 6 Emergency Transports

COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS
Standard Data Transmission Speed: 18.5 kiloquads per second
Subspace Communications Speed: Warp 9.9997
The communications systems come with triple-redundant transmitters and antennas.

ARMAMENTS
Phaser Arrays: 20 Mk X Phaser Arrays
Phaser Array Locations: Three phaser arrays on each saucer pod, one phaser array below each internal bay, for a total of 20.

Torpedo Systems: Six rapid-reload torpedo launchers, one underneath each saucer pod.
Torpedo Complement: 400 (180 Photon Warheads, 180 Quantum Warheads, 40 Casings without Warheads

Tractor Beams: 9x Type X
Tractor Emitter Locations: One on top of each shuttlebay underneath the phaser emitter, One in the center of each landing pad.

AUXILIARY CRAFT:

A Frontier Class Station can house up to 5 runabout-sized craft and 10 shuttle-sized craft inside each of its six saucer-shaped hangar pods.  Each berthed craft has a maximum dimension of 25 meters in length and 15 meters in width in order to fit within the internal hangars of the pods.  The maximum pod capacity of the Station is thus 30 runabout-sized craft and 60 shuttle-sized craft.

Umbilicals can be extended from the landing zone on each saucer pod to allow external docking of ships of any size, though such docking methods will obscure the pod's vehicle lift and prevent any other craft from docking or taking off from that pod.

In the station's original configuration, three 'central internal hangars' in the main body of the station allow the internal berthing of up to three larger craft (one each) with dimensions not exceeding 40 meters in length and 30 meters in width, in addition to a dozen more shuttle-sized vehicles.

This was modified during refits after the Dosi attacked the station and the internal hangars suffered substantial damage.  The repaired and refit internal hangars were connected and enlarged, allowing a vessel of up to 100 meters in length and 50 meters in width to be berthed within.

Many large visiting ships that come to Frontier class outposts will merely request a nearby holding position and be serviced by transporter, shuttle, or workpod, depending on its needs.

Due to the intention that the station regularly receive commerce and visitation, the native supply of official Starfleet craft is intentionally kept at a fraction of maximum capacity so that there is always room for visiting vessels.

The current list of embarked craft at Katra Station are more particularly described in a separate entry called 'Embarked Craft of Katra Station.'

COMPUTER SYSTEMS:
Computer Cores: Two Primary Computer Cores
Station Networking: The station runs a standard isolinear network. As the station is meant to be deployed quickly, no bio-neural circuitry is in use.
LCARS: The computer systems use LCARS version 5.6, to account for increases in processor speed and power, limitations discovered in the field in earlier versions, and increased security. This level is the standard for Federation ships of the line and starbases, with 84% of Federation assets using this system.

EMERGENCY SYSTEMS:
Escape Pods: 200 lifeboats are available to supplement the shuttlecraft embarked. Each pod can support a maximum of 8 souls for 8 months. Lifepods can link up in 'gaggle' mode and share resources to last longer. Each 8-soul pod is in the shape of a triangle, 5.6 meters high and 6.2 meters long.  These pods are concealed beneath blast-away cover plates that present a flush hullform appearance when inactive.

Warp Core Ejection: The warp core ejection system is designed to eject the warp core in the event of a warp core breach in order to prevent the destruction of the station. Activation of the ejection system typically requires security clearance by the chief engineer or a senior officer (Commander or above). This tactic is generally considered to be a last ditch effort to save a facility during a crisis situation and is often unreliable at best. After ejection, it is possible to reintegrate the core, however this maneuver is also extremely difficult.

Emergency Bulkheads: As the Frontier-class station is meant to be towed in pieces and assembled in place, each section of the station can be isolated from the others on its own life support, for a limited time. Each section can be jettisoned in case of emergency. and using the RCS system can be rapidly cleared from the rest of the station.
