Dord Embassy:

(#66 S1M7: A Star is Shorn) At passing the doorway, it was immediately noticeable that the methane percentage had increased.  There was a slight scent to the air.  In addition the gravity lightened.  "The environmental conditions throughout the entire embassy has been set to your peoples specifications and requirements.  The embassy has been set up to hold 10 offices,  3 VIP suites and general living quarters for 20 Dord staff."

(#67 S1M7: A Star is Shorn) 'You'll have all the same shielding and protections as Katra Station itself, just like any facility on board.' That was implicit, really, the embassy being well inside the station. 'But the Federation still has no technology able to effectively block telepathy. Instead, we rely on strict laws against non-consensual telepathic intrusion. There are also mental techniques for guarding against suspected telepathy, like reciting a song or thinking of something obscene.'

Numati Embassy:

(#103 S1M7: A Star is Shorn) The Numati Embassy was less than a quarter the size of the Dord Embassy.  With only two staff they didn't need more.  The area consisted of a reception, a single office, and their living space.  Of course there was plenty of empty space in the surrounding area, since he had set the two Embassies on opposite ends of the deck.  The Embassy could be expanded.

The Tholian Embassy

The Tholian Assembly recently established an embassy on Katra Station.

Diplomatic relations with the Tholians have always been difficult, as the Tholian mind is so fundamentally different than that of most sentient species, it is often difficult to be certain of a shared understanding.  The Tholians once did not even have a dedicated diplomatic caste, and had to create one out of whole cloth for dealing with other species and nations.

Eydis is one of the first generation of Diplomatic Envoys of this new caste, created within the past 50 years, previously having been a warrior caste member who had been re-purposed to fill this emerging role.  Eydis was the first Tholian envoy to enter the Gamma Quadrant, and is currently in charge of the Tholian embassy on Katra Station.

The Embassy encompasses ten rooms with highly sophisticated environmental systems that can duplicate the temperature, humidity, and atmospheric content most favorable to Tholian life.

Outside of this Embassy, or when meeting with members of other species, Tholians employ 'encounter suits' that allow them to work comfortably in foreign environments.  It is not known if Tholians need these suits to survive outside of their native environment, or if the suits merely make life outside of their normal environment more tolerable.  However, given that their natural habitat is in excess of 400 degrees Fahrenheit, it is likely unhealthy for them to be outside of it for long without their environmental suits.

Tholian Assembly Starspanner - Arcux aka 'The Astral Thread' - Orbweaver Class

Length: 400 meters
Width: 275 meters
Decks: Unknown

Maximum Observed Warp Speed: Warp 9
Known Weapons: Tetryon Beam Emitters (Comparable to Type 9 Phaser Arrays)
                          Subspace Filament Spinnarets
Thermionic Torpedo Launcher (Comperable to high-yield photon torpedo)
Known Defenses: Multilayered Gravitic Envelope Generators
Embarked Craft: Three Tholian 'Widow' craft, (60m long) comparable to runabouts, but armed as fighters

The 'Astral Thread' is a Tholian Orbweaver Class starship.  The Tholians refer to their starships as starspanners, and the registered prefix of this ship translates to TAS, with a registry code of A762.  This code only has significance to Starfleet registry services, as the Tholians use a different, opaque system of registries within the Tholian Assembly.

The Orbweaver Class is ostensibly one of ther scientific research vessels, and is designated as a light cruiser in Federation Threat Databases.  The Astral Thread has been converted for use by the recently created Tholian Diplomatic Caste and remains at the disposal of their envoys.  It is believed that approximately 140 crew serve aboard these vessels.

In terms of combat strength, the Orb-Weaver is believed to be on par with the Excelsior Class starship, though the vessel's maneuverability aligns more with the Intrepid class.   Because of the crystalline structure of the ship's hull, phasers set to proper frequencies and modulations can cause catastrophic damage by creating resonance with the hull materials.

The Klingon Embassy

The Klingon Empire recently established an embassy on Katra Station.

Recent dealings with Numati representatives, followed by mysterious acts of theft and sabotage, have caused the Klingon Empire to take greater interest in the affairs of the Gamma Quadrant.  This interest coincided with an invitation by the United Federation of Planets and the Meridians to bring an Embassy to Katra.  As such, the Empire has assigned Ambassador Kol to found a Klingon Embassy on Katra Station.

Kol (wheat) is an ambassador who achieved some minor successes in negotiations with the Gorn, before his glory faded.  He was initially upset to have been assigned to Katra, believing that he would end his life in obscurity.  Upon arriving, however, he soon realized that the Trialus sector was a hotbed of activity.

Tokara (coral) is Kol's personal aide.  She has served him for eight years, and is familiar enough with him to inject the occasional dry humor or veiled jibe without getting into trouble.

The Klingon Embassy has rooms decorated in browns, beiges, grays, and reds.  Weapons festoon various surfaces as decoration, and there is always plenty of wine and food on hand.   The central feature of the embassy is a huge hall, designed to recreate the great halls of Qonos.  It uses just over half of the allotted embassy space, requiring some embassy staff to reside elsewhere.

Klingon Empire 'Diplomatic Cruiser' - 'IKS LoD Qan' - D-7 Class

Length: 228 meters
Width: 160 meters
Decks: 18
Crew Complement: 440 (Standard) 110 (Diplomatic Configuration)

Warp Propulsion System: S-2 Graf Unit employing a matter-antimatter warp core
Maximum Observed Warp Speed: Warp 7.22
Known Weapons: Disruptor Cannons (Comparable to Type VII Phaser Arrays)
                          Photon Torpedo Launcher

Known Defenses: Standard 2270's era shielding system
Early model 2270's era cloaking device

Embarked Craft:  Two Chal Pum type long-range warp-shuttles, with a cruising speed of Warp 5.

The Lod Qan is a veritable antique starship, taken out of a recycling yard and refurbished to serve as the diplomatic transport for Ambassador Kol.   Originally named the Nom Qeh, or 'Swift Fury' it was re-christened Lod Qan when the vessel was re-commissioned.  This name roughly translates to 'Old Man.'   While this is perhaps an accurate description of the vessel itself, it could be perceived as a backhanded insult, as it is considered unfortunate to live to be an old man in Klingon culture.

The D-7 Cruiser is rated to be somewhat less effective than a Miranda Class Starship according to the Starfleet Threat Assessment database, placing it on par with a Saladin class destroyer.  Its cloaking device could provide it an edge in obtaining a devastating surprise attack, but only if potential threat forces are not attempting to locate a cloaked vessel.  Any active attempt to look for a hidden vessel will easily penetrate its antiquated cloaking device's camoflage.

The Lod Qan is crewed by some familiar faces to Katra personnel.  When the crew of the IKS Nom Pach lost their prisoner and their ship in a recent attempt to apprehend a saboteur and spy, the entire crew were deeply dishonored.  Only diplomatic intervention by the United Federation of Planets prevented them from ending their careers in complete disgrace.  When the Federation invited the Klingons to place an embassy on Katra station, Federation ambassadors also spoke highly of the Nom Pach crew.  As such, they were selected to crew the Lod Qan.

Being transferred from a dynamic Bird of Prey to a tired 125 year-old cruiser was a terrible blow for the crew.  All the worse was the fact that this cruiser was merely a diplomatic transport with a skeleton crew.  The crew has elected to do their duty, but the chances of reclaiming their honor on this assignment are slim.  The only silver lining in this cloud is the fact that they will be stationed at the same posting as the Captain's daughter.

Captain Noh'ves, Beja's Father

Text color= tomato

Noh'ves is Beja's father.  Although his daughter considers him a staunch traditionalist, he is flexible enough to allow that there is more than one way to accumulate honor and fulfill one's duties as a Klingon.  While he does not fully understand his daughter, he tries to be supportive of her choices.  In fact, his experiences with his daughter are what brought flexibility into his mindset.  Noh'ves is an able commander partly for this reason.  He allows each of his officers to excel in their own way, without expecting conformity to traditional methods.

First Officer K'mpoc

Text color=salmon
(Son of Rowf)

K'mpoc and Noh'ves are lifelong friends, having met as fresh graduates of the Imperial Academy at the onset of the Dominion War.  They advanced though the ranks together, always serving side by side.  K'mpoc is an able leader, but he does not have the ambition to command his own ship.  He prefers to stay at the side of his good friend and Captain, supporting him in all things.  Sometimes, this support comes in the form of telling his old friend when he is making an error.  Their friendship is strong enough to survive such conversations.  K'mpoc valued Noh'ves friendship a great deal partly because the man was kind to him even though K'mpoc is part Bajoran.  His mother was a Bajoran slave who escaped into Imperial space and married his father.  He wears a Bajoran earring to honor his mother's heritage.

Flight Officer H'rel

Text color=beige
H'rel has been piloting Birds of Prey since the first days of the Empire's alliance with the United Federation of Planets.  Back then, he was a brash youth.  Now he is a seasoned veteran.  But one thing hasn't changed: H'rel loves flying more than anything in the wide world.  For this reason, he prefers to avoid any promotion that would pull him away from Flight Control.

Science Officer Tolec

Text color=azure

Tolec always had an interest in science, but only entered the field when an injury to his knee left him a less capable warrior.  He has thrown himself into the sciences to preserve his usefulness to the Empire.  As a result, he is a fairly skilled officer.

Chief Engineer Grom

Text color=silver

Chief Engineer Grom lives with the shame of being a cyborg.  When the Nom Pach was crippled in combat with pirates, the ship was found by a Bynar vessel.  The Bynars found Grom near death, and repaired him to the best of their ability.  They did not realize he would have preferred to die than to become a heavily cyborged individual.  Grom nearly invoked ritual suicide rather than live this way, but he was convinced that he could still live a life of honor.  He is an accomplished engineer.

Security Chief M'kai (daughter of M'ord)

Text color=plum

A no-nonsense security officer, M'kai is known to be an expert duellist who attained her current position when she challenged and defeated a superior she accused of incompetence.  She lost an eye to that duel, but it does not seem to have diminished her effectiveness.

Tactical Officer Vilka

Text color=hotpink

Young and brash, Vilka achieved senior status in her department at a young age due to her efficiency.  But she may have been promoted too soon, and remains foolishly headstrong at times.
