Jorias was born on  a mining colony  in a far flung corner of  Trill Territory.     From an early age he had a fascination with Starships hoping to serve on them, design them, and build  them.   He was accepted into Starfleet Academy and applied himself to his studies.   He proved to be a competent cadet and his interest in engineering was already beginning to show.

Tragedy struck shortly after graduation.   Jorias was waiting for an assignment offworld, na dhe was kidnapped by  members of a crime syndicate.   Their Leader, Adadan Doache was dying.   He carried in him a cloned symbiont.

The Doache line dates back to his  first host , Modren.   Morden was part of a criminal empire, but applied himself, resisted the urge to go into the family business and tried to keep things clean.   When he applied for the joining he was turned down.

He went into the family business, using their connections to clone a symbiont.   Since then, the symbiont has remained in the Doache family, passed down the line as a heirloom.

As Jorias was the only Trill in  distance of the dying Doache, he was kidnapped and he was joined with the symbiont agains this will.

Immeidately after joining, Jorias was kept just longHe was able to trick his way out of captivity, and escaped to Starfleet.

The past hosts do attempt to influence him from time to time, however this is strictly monitored with an  implant that keeps his mind in control.   Howeverm from time to time, past personalities can surface,  sometimes he tries to control himself by turning off the implant for periods.

Sample post Jorias could feel his heart pounding as he entered the observation lounge.   Ever since his ordeal, he felt like he was a charlatan, pretending to be someone else.   Commander Moss was a particularly hard task master to please, one of the most notorious in the fleet.   He nervously paced the room as she entered

"You didn't ring the bell?"

"No" he said.   He could feel his nerves pounding   Already he had pissed off the first officer.

"Oh silly boy, you're in trouble already"

Stood behind the commander was a short black haired woman.
Enya Doache, the second host, and daughter of the first.   Like each of the other hosts she had been obsessed with immortality, yet what they ended up with was purgatory.   He ignored her, she was a projection, a vison that fell through the cracks.

"Good" said Moss as she genstured towards a chair.   "I'm not one for ceremony .   He sat down, Enya seemed to disappear."  The red haired woman's face was stern.   This was his first crew evaluation since he joined the Triton.

"So, Lieutenant Vrax tells me that you have  upgraded the Self Sealing Stem Bolt to make the sealing temporary."

"Not just temporary." He  said.  "They work as good as the permanent ones until you want to..."   he made a vague motion.

"Look at you."   Now it was Adadan Doache,   as he was when he died.  A balding middle aged maile with fierce green eyes.   "I've done great things, powerful things.   I created one of the strongest families in the syndicate.   Now look at what I've become.   A few stray neurons debating Stem Bolts on a starship.   My men were idiots."

"Don't worry son."   Now it was the first one, Morden Doache.   "He'll screw up.   I bet he'll be fired now.   With a bit of luck, one of our men will get wind of this and grab him.   We got no kids, but at least we can but him in a body with some backbone."

"Lieutenant Vrax isn't sold."   Moss said snapping him back into the present.   Now Jorias could hear the mocking laughter of Enya in his head     "Commander I..."    he began.

"I'm not finished."  Moss said, shutting him up   "I disagree.   The variable molecular field is brilliant.   This is top level stuff, in fact Commander Maxwell agreed as well."

The chief engineer was almost as hard to please as Moss.   The laughter of Enya faded.

"Thank you."   He said.

"Don't thank me"   Moss said   "Vrax is a fantastic builder, but hes also an idiot.   He'd be suspicious of Dilithium Crystals if there weren't 47 papers on the subject."

"No Sir,"   Jorias said   The voices were still silent as he felt his confidence grow.

"So, ensign, you're being reassigned as a specialist.   You're going to be answerable to Maxwell, though you may not be asked to lead many of the teams he sets up."

Jorias was shocked.   His arguments with Vrax over the temporary self sealing stem bolts had been the talk of beta shift.   He thought the incident would get him assigned to a garbase scow, or drummed out of the service   Yet to be given another chance.   However he felt them all.   Perhaps she had forgotten.

"Commander, what about my...  condition?"   he asked

"Is that criminal parasite inside you controlling you?"  she asked.

"No" he replied.

"Has your ability to contain their voices diminished?" she asked.

"No." he answered honestly.   In fact, he felt himself beginning to control them a lot more.

"Then I don't see a problem.   Look, I was born on Earth, I don't know anything about what its like to be a Trill, joined or otherwise.   I can't begin to understand the problems that you are going through.   But it seems to me like the previous Doache hosts have committed many crimes, including the one that was perpetrated against you.   Another crime would be allowing what they did to temper your career.   Jorias, Starfleet needs good people, in a year or two you could be a department head in Engineering, maybe even an Deputy Chief engineer,   Take a chance on yourself.   The rest will attend to itself.   :

Hey there! Great application. Two quick questions..

Would you prefer to be an enlisted crewman or commissioned as an officer and start as ensign. Completely your call just depends on which direction you want to take the character.

Sounds great! Unfortunately we are pretty stocked on engineers. So I am going to assign you to Operations on the Discovery  under Captain @Tekin Nevir. If you'd like to switch to engineering in the future it's definitely something we could look into in a month or two. Congrats and welcome to Shadowfleet.

We do a brief academy course for new players. It's just to familiarise with posting on the site. Your instructor will setup your course and reply to this thread shortly. Upon completion you'll be granted the rank of ensign.
