Character Bio: Beja was the result of a marriage between two warring houses, arranged to cement a peace between them. When her mother gave birth to her, she gave her the unusual name Beja, which means 'daughter of peace' in old Klingon. The name would prove to be prophetic, as she took little interest in the warrior culture of her people and instead tended towards medicine and even psychology. Weaknesses of the mind are frowned upon in Klingon culture, and she gained little respect with her people when trying to pursue it.

However, her father Noh'ves was not entirely unsympathetic to her interests, realizing that not all Klingons were made for war (regardless of what the sagas may say about it.)  He had served alongside a Lieutenant Sinclair during a Dominion War operation, and had remained on good terms with him. He reached out to his old war companion and asked if he might sponsor his daughter into the Federation Starfleet Academy. Sinclair met with Beja and was impressed enough to make the sponsorship.

Beja came alive at Starfleet, finally free to pursue the sciences and medicine as she'd always wished. She received a Doctorate in Xenopsychology with secondary degrees in Xenobiology and Neurochemistry. She also sought a supplemental certification in Interstellar Diplomacy.  Her combat training only went as far as the basics required by Starfleet. Now, as a young officer in Starfleet, she seeks her destiny among the stars. She hopes to find a post that will allow her to apply her knowledge of alien minds and diplomacy. Perhaps somewhere on the frontier.

"Meeeee.......ew..."

The soft, plantative sound came forth from the small fluff of orange that followed up it's vocal demands with insistence taps of it's paws on the older gentleman's thigh. The man acquiesced immediately to the kitten's demands and began to scratch behind the animal's ear.

The vibrating sound rose not only in volume but in intensity with each gentle  stroke of the wrinkled man's hands through the fur of the kitten. After a few seconds, the kitten curled up, and happily made its home on the old man's lap. The two might have been different species but the older human and young feline had bonded together, that was apparent to anyone who observed the pair for even a small amount of time.

Beja tapped as quietly as she could on her PADD, for she knew not everyone wanted to be reminded that they were in a "therapy" session. Ernesto had been working for years on the ship as a barber. He had always had a jovial personality. Some of that joy though had been diminished since his partner of 50 years died. Her own heart lurched at the pain and sadness that he had to be battling. It was the main reason that she had suggested Rusty, the kitten to him.

"How are you sleeping?" she inquired to him, her fingers moving over the personalized computer screen to record his answer. Not surprising, he gave her a grunt of sorts while he shrugged his shoulders. Almost like a dance took place during their session, one that she had painstainkling had taken her time to learn the steps. Beja wanted to help ease his pain and depression, as she had seen first hand just how devastating those emotions could be to a person.

Like pulling Quv'aD, but gradually Ernesto opened up and actually gave verbal answers to the questions she posed. The louder that Rusty purred, the more relaxed the older barber got. The big finale was of course to come, and that was when their time was up and the session was over with. That's when it happened.

The smile she had inside was kept hidden. There was a part they all had to play, even Rusty, during this closing. Ernesto grunted out, "Well I will just keep him for another week..." as he pulled the orange kitten closer to his chest as he stood in the doorway of her office.

"Of course, that is quite generous of you, while we wait for a more  permanent home for him to come up," Beja agreed to his offer. Once he had left with his new found kitten best friend, the smile finally broke out on her face. The ridges on her forehead moved up and down with her joyful expression.

Rusty had found a permanent home, and that was held within the beating chest of the barber. The kitten's home had taken shape in the old man's heart. The duo had created a bond, and when Ernesto admitted that, the first step would be done.

Additional information: If possible I would like an assignment to Katra Station.

How did you find Shadow Fleet? I was recommended by Anthony Toledo, who plays Solluk in your fleet.

Hi, I'm the Enlisted Persons Course co-ordinator, but I've been asked to give you the Officers Training Course.

To help new players get acquainted with Shadow Fleet, we have the EPC and the OTC, just a few simple exercises to demonstrate Trek knowledge, posting style, and Shadow Fleet habits. They should be short and easy. There's no rush on doing them and you can start posting in your new game right away, but it's best to get the EPC done sooner rather than later. It is necessary to start with the basic rank of Crewman or Ensign.

Your OTC starts here:
