HELP TOPIC: Player Awards

Player awards are given out every six months - once in January and again in July. They exist to reward players for their contributions towards their SIMM and the RPG as a whole, whether this be while posting, or with help outside of missions.

Shadow Fleet awards are given from an out of character point of view. Out of character awards reward players for their commitment outside of the normal missions, for example, for submitting mission ideas or having consistently well-written posts.

The following lists all the awards possible for a player to gain.

Player Achievement Awards

Service Ribbons

Service ribbons are presented automatically by the commanding officer of a SIMM. They are usually awarded at the next awards ceremony and will always be backdated to the appropriate date.

	6 Month Service Ribbon Awarded to players who have been with the fleet for six months.
	1 Year Service Ribbon Awarded to players who have been with the fleet for one year.
	2 Year Service Ribbon Awarded to players who have been with the fleet for two years.
	3 Year Service Ribbon Awarded to players who have been with the fleet for three years.
	5 Year Service Ribbon Awarded to players who have been with the fleet for five years.
	Long Service Ribbon Awarded to players on completion of ten years service. This ribbon is also accompanied by a Long Service Certificate of Appreciation.
	Meritorious Service Ribbon Awarded to players upon promotion to Lieutenant Commander or Chief Petty Officer.

Posting Ability

Unless otherwise stated, posting ability awards are presented by the commanding officer of a SIMM to those players who he or she feels meet the relevant criteria. They are not earned automatically.

	Posting Excellence Award Awarded in January and July to one player who has demonstrated consistent high quality posting skills.
	Most Improved Player Award Awarded in January and July to the player who has greatly improved since the last awards ceremony.
	Descriptive Combat Award Awarded in January and July to the player who has demonstrated an ability to convey the action of combat in their posts.
	Best Newcomer Award Awarded to the player who has demonstrated excellence, and who joined after the last awards ceremony.
	Technical Precision Award Awarded in January and July to the player who has included in-depth and relevant technical details in their posts.
	EPC/OTC Graduate Ribbon Awarded to all enlisted players upon graduation from the Enlisted Persons Course or Officers Training Course.
	Most Engaging Member Award Awarded in January and July to the player who writes the most emotionally engaging, scene setting posts.
	Best Duo Award Awarded in January and July to the two players who have shown the highest levels of cooperation.
	Rib Tickler Award Awarded in January and July to the player with the most humorous posts.

Extra Contribution

The following extra contribution awards are awarded by the commanding officer of a SIMM to those he or she feels have gone above and beyond what is required of them. They are not earned automatically.

	Captain's Personal Merit Award Awarded in January and July by the commanding officer, to a player of his or her choosing.
	Executive Officer's Personal Merit Award Awarded in January and July by the executive officer, to a player of his or her choosing.
	Crew Choice Award Awarded in January and July to the winner of the Crew's Choice Poll.
	Fleet Service Ribbon Awarded in January and July to players who guest star in another SIMM.
	Outstanding Commitment Award Awarded in January and July to players who are always online and posting regularly in missions.
	Contribution Award Awarded in January and July to players who make contributions outside of missions. These could include submitting mission ideas and helping new members settle in.
	Outstanding Contribution Award Awarded in January and July to players who make outstanding continued contributions outside of missions. These could include assisting the commanding officer with important tasks or temporarily taking on command officer responsibilities. The Contribution Award must be earned before this award.
	Recruitment Ribbon Awarded in January and July to players in recognition of their recruitment efforts.
	"Spread the Word!" Campaign Ribbon Awarded to any player who participates in the annual "Spread the Word!" campaign.
	I Donated Badge Awarded to any player who donates money to help keep SF running

The following awards are presented by fleet admiralty:

	Player of the Year Award (POTY) This is a fleet award and is awarded in January, by the Fleet Commanding Officer, to the player who has contributed the most to the fleet over the past year.
	Post of the Month Ribbon (POTM) Awarded by the fleet admiralty to any player who is awarded "Post of the Month" for the entire fleet.
	Cadet of the Year Award This is a fleet award and is awarded in January, by the Academy Commandant, to the player with the best Academy Course of the previous year. This award is open to both officer and EPC graduates.
	Shining Record Award Awarded in January and July to the player with the best application since the last awards ceremony.
	Distinguished Command Award Awarded in January by the Fleet Commanding Officer to the commanding officer of a ship who has demonstrated an excellent ability to manage their SIMM over the past year.
	Distinguished Executive Officer Award Awarded in January by the Fleet Commanding Officer to the executive officer of a ship who has demonstrated an excellent ability to manage their SIMM over the past year.
	Fleet Captain Award Awarded in January and July to any commanding officer who takes command over two or more starships for the duration of a mission.
	Fleet Commanding Officer Commendation Awarded in January and July to a player whom the Fleet Commanding Officer feels warrants recognition.
	Diplomat Award Awarded in January and July to the player whom the FCO feels has always presented a neutral voice, mediated disputes effectively and strived for peace amongst users.

Unit Awards

Unit awards are earned when the crew of a SIMM shows great team work in making their SIMM the best it can be. All officers and crew present when the award is assigned, will receive the relevant ribbon.

	Unit Citation Awarded in January and July by the FCO to the officers and crew of the SIMM that has been the most active since the last awards ceremony.
	Ion Storm Award Given to the SIMM that has survived the roughest storm during the year.
	Crew Efficiency Ribbon Awarded in January and July by the FCO to the officers and crew of the most organized SIMM.
	Amiable Crew Award Awarded in January and July by the FCO to the officers and crew of the most friendly and welcoming simm.

Campaign Medals

A campaign is a series of missions that are linked together by a central theme. Each season of a SIMM usually includes one campaign, and campaign medals are awarded to any player who was present and actively posting during the majority of that campaign.

USS Discovery Campaigns

	Cardassian Campaign Medal Awarded to any player present for the majority of the Cardassian arc in 2008.
	Iconian Campaign Medal Awarded to any player present for the majority of the Iconian arc in 2009.
	B.O.R.G. Campaign Medal Awarded to any player present for the majority of the B.O.R.G. arc in 2011.

USS Churchill Campaigns

	Pirate Campaign Medal Awarded to any player present for the majority of the Pirate arc in 2011.
	Solen Campaign Medal Awarded to any player present for the majority of the Solen arc in 2013.

Special Awards

Special Awards are awards that do not fit into any other category, for example posting in joint-missions between two or more SIMMs, or participation special fleet-wide events.

Fleet-wide Events

	Founding Member Ribbon Awarded to any member who joined Shadow Fleet in its first month of January, 2007.
	"Enemy Unseen" Participation Medal Awarded to any player present and actively posting during the Special Mission "Enemy Unseen" in August 2011.
	Fifth Anniversary Celebration Awarded to all active members who were present for the Fifth Anniversary Celebration in January 2012.
	"Supernatural" Participation Medal Awarded to any player present and actively posting during the Halloween Special Mission "Supernatural" in October, 2012.
	"Lost Paradise" Participation Medal Awarded to any player present and actively posting during the Special Mission "Star Trek: Lost Paradise" in May, 2013.
	Dedicated Member Award Awarded to any player who stuck with the site during the June 2017 Site Move
	Tenth Anniversary Ribbon Awarded in January 2017 to all active members.
