The Analyn is Starfleet's latest prototype in moderately sentient AI.

A.N.a.L.Y.N. stands for the:

Artificial
Neural
And
Logistics
Yeoman
Node

The Analyn system integrates itself into a Starfleet computer, requiring very little hardware upgrade. It is capable of autonomously operating a starship or starbase. It is equipped with a moderately sentient AI for personal interfacing with crew.

When it chooses to appear, Analyn takes on the form of a button nosed, adorable toddler girl with an appropriate voice. It is also nearly as destructive and neurotic as a toddler.
