Quote from: T'Ra Jones on April 04, 2017, 06:55:39 AM

[Observation Lounge]

T'Ra didn't doubt that Zuriel was much more at ease in his dress uniform than what he had worn all those years ago for their crazy shenanigans. But the memory made her smile, and Evan bellowed with laughter at the thought. "I think I like this guy," he told T'Ra. "Seems like a lot of fun."

"Knowing you," T'Ra added, "I'm having a little trouble believing you've kept yourself out of trouble all this time, but I suppose becoming a father and husband changes your perspective on life." She could feel Evan's eyes on her, but she did not have to look at him to know what he was thinking. After their encounter with Sloan it was clear that he wanted children, but they hadn't even set a day for the wedding. Soon, probably. Evan had been patient long enough, and she was not one to deny him. "What field is she studying?" T'Ra asked, changing the subject back to his daughter Avi. "I'm sure the twins must have been a handful."

Realizing she had forgotten something, she made the introductions. "Sevoc, this is an old friend of mine from my days fresh out of the academy." And to Zuriel, she added, "This is Sevoc, my best science officer. He's been snagged for the new ship they're rolling out."
"Oh I assure you, you have no idea." Zuriel said laughing with Evan.
"Avi is studying to be a medical officer, she is not nearly as off the cuff as I am, she grew up seeing me nurse injuries and would try to play doctor even back then. When she told me she was going for a commission I kind of figured that was the direction she would take; but whatever she chooses I will be proud of her, I think she will be a fine officer." Zuriel was not used to being the proud father in the group, but he had to admit to himself it felt really good, it was a part of life he never thought he would attain, and that made it his highest achievement.

"Na'shaya, T'Ra," Sevoc replied in kind. "It would be most agreeable to join you on stage if you feel the need."

He turned to Zuriel and responded.

"It is agreeable to meet you, sir," he said confidently. "I am not sure how much has been disclosed, but I am not as fine an officer as T'Ra here. No matter what she may say."

His tone was that of modesty. He was always reluctant of any praise heaped on him. Even more so after the incident.

"Ahh Sevoc! I may not know you face but your name has crossed my path more than once, glad to finally connect the two; it is a pleasure to meet you finally." Zuriel said with a bow, "My wife Talia." He added with a gesture to the women on his arm. "Nonsense T'ra is not the one to give undue praise, if she says you're that good, then it is so." Zuriel said quite seriously, "never sell yourself too short Lieutenant, there are plenty of people who will do that, nor do they need help."

Caleb smiled before he took another sip of his drink. It had been a while since he had a good alcoholic drink among friends.
The transition back had been hard enough without feeling like an outcast but that soon settled once he got back on the Athena. He was glad to have been invited and even more glad he took the risk and decided to go. He just made a new friend and that feeling was something he had not felt in quite some time.
"Cheers to new friendship?" Caleb asked raising his semi-refilled glass.

" To new friendship " Katheryn replied raising her own glass to Caleb before taking another sip and she was looking forward to this friendship developing and learning more about him. Considering she had been wary about attending and then feeling embarrassed when she had spotted Steven with someone else she suddenly didn't feel as bad anymore and if she spoke to him then she would be her normal self as the last thing she wanted was to be uncomfortable around him and for Steven to pick up on that. Her attention firmly back on Caleb " So Caleb do you have any other hobbies at all?" she asked brightly.

"Well I play a few instruments. I can play guitar, ukulele and violin. My favorite ukulele song is a classical song called Sleeping By Myself by the great great classical artist Eddie Vedder. How about yourself?"Caleb asked.

Katheryn again listened with interest as he told her about the instruments he played and what one of his favorite songs were and for Katheryn she had never really been able to play anything but always enjoyed music and when he asked her what else she did she answered straightaway. " Listening to music I like the old Earth stuff particularly rock, reading holo novels and I like to also keep up with my Karate it helps me to unwind and get rid of any built up tension".

"I'm partial to the old earth band Pearl Jam myself. I like to think I like to have my own fighting style myself. Though I am not a fan of guns, I do not mind if I need to knock someone out. Maybe we can spar sometime and we can teach one another some fighting moves?" Caleb asked.

Finding out that they had something similar in common made Katheryn smile and it was nice to know that she had met a new friend where her choices weren't frowned upon and the only other person who she felt the same way about was currently on the opposite side of the room. " Ah Pearl Jam good choice I must admit my favorite is the English band Sweet " she replied then thought about his offer to spar " Nothing wrong with having your own fighting style and yeah your on we can do that sometime ".

"I can't wait. I once befriended two bears when I was stranded for a week by myself" Caleb said. He didn't want to give his whole life story, but he was glad to share the bear story with her.

Katheryn grinned at his response and was happy that he felt comfortable to share the bear story with her and never really had much to do with the animal as it was mainly wolves that she had encountered particularly a grey one that always seemed to know where she was. " Me too and sounds like another interesting story Caleb " she replied finishing her drink before looking at him again " We had wolves that used to venture near our house and there was a particular grey one that followed me about".

He then pulled out his small notebook again he flipped a few pages one handed and came across the page he was looking for."I got close enough with them to draw their cub," he said showing her the page he drew.

Dylan frowned. He'd never served with this officer. However, the man seemed to know quite a bit about him. Was there something he was missing?

He spoke, a frown on his face. "I'm sorry Crewman, but I do not believe we have been introduced before. And yes, my name is Dylan Torngate." he said, a polite smile on his face. "Thank you." he said in response to the man's congratulations. While only in title and not rank, it was a promotion nonetheless.

"Your name is not familiar to me. Where is it you think we have met before?" he asked, genuinely curious.

[Observation Deck]

EQ's eyebrows bunched together.  He was for sure he had meet Dylan before.  But apparently not given the man's response.

"Maybe I'm getting you mixed up with someone else.  You don't happen to have a twin or any other look alike relatives in Star Fleet do you?  If so, I probably met one of them" EQ said.

The El-Aurian came walking into the observing lounge seeing all lot of people. Many he had not met and a few he met. That was okay.

He was wearing his Starfleet dress uniform which was adorn to be perfect. He was not fond wearing the dress uniform because it was not comfortable. He pulled on his cuff to pull it out. The fabric was stiff.

His brown eyes looked around to see that some crew members had a escort with them on their arms.

The sense of other El-Aurians were at present, but he was not going to rush to greet them. He was here to observe and listen. He smiled and nodded to Starfleet Uniformed men and women and others who walked by. You got all kinds of species of races here.

"Care for a drink?" a young female human who was holding a tray of drinks.

"Thank you," he said taking on. He took a small sip to test it. It was smooth with a sweet taste to it. It had made his tongue feel a little dry. He was going to force himself to take his time.

So he slowly walked through the crowd to the observant window. It was beautiful as usual. More space and more opportunities of exploration. A cluster of twenty bright stars had gotten his collection. He was staring at it as he was studying it.

"My parents handed down similar stories too, but they were more like legends. Back when my Nan was alive she would tell stories to me and the same friend who went to the islands together. She tried to warn us of a rogue fish spirit that could gobble us up if we were not careful. She did help me appreciate the beauty in the world though" Caleb said.

Dylan was even more curious now. Something was off here. So he switched tactics. He answered the questions with a bit of a questioning undertone. "I don't have any current family members in Starfleet. Nobody's been in the fleet since my father's father defected, on the USS Apogee." he said, a bit ashamed of the legacy that history had written. No shuttles had been missing, nothing, just a bunch of confused scientists who read his note and assumed he'd defected and left. That was a lot of red on the honor of Dylan's family.

Unbeknownst to Dylan, his grandfather had not defected, but had been selected to fend of a second, secret Borg invasion. It was there that Alex Tintus had fought and lost to the Borg, being freed. From there Alex had been jumped to five years from now- 2400. Though that was still Dylan's future. He'd done a lot but not time travel- not yet.

D'Vid ears had heard a familiar voice. It was in Starfleet. So he slowly turned his head to look at the direction to see the EQ. He had worked with on short repairs on his shift. It was like he knew the person as working with them, but never got around to really to get to know them.

He smiled as he was talking to another Starfleet officer. He had seen that person too, but he was not all in the proper mind to recall. He had decided to wait it out. He had gone back looking at the stars when he took a sip of his drink.

He was being there and not being there. He felt he had to be there because it was a gut feeling. He had no problem to observe the folk around. It was sort of enjoyment to hear the rythm of the voices of people talking.
