Character Bio:

Caleb is the only child of Jacob and Alice Brighton. Jacob and Alice were often called the darlings of Starfleet. The two were some of the best officers Starfleet had. Jacob was an expert strategist and Alice was a perfect diplomat.Though there were others whose story spread throughout the universe, it was the works of the Brightons that were truly worth merit. Though they were often too modest or swore to their own secrecy to admit just how much good they did.

His best friend was named Jenna. Jenna and Caleb's parents often would go aboard ships while their parents worked missions. Many times they would often choose whose parents they wanted to go on missions with. They wanted their children to learn and experience something few children could.

That all changed after the fateful day that his parents died. It was a routine mission to pickup some supplies from a freighter. When the ship docked, no one had sensed the impending danger except Jenna. She called her parents, as she was on the Brighton's ship. Since her parents were close by, they decided to swing by just to make sure their daughter was ok.

A group of Klingon ships had amassed a ambush. Between the laser fire and trying to evacuate, Caleb got lost from his parents. Knowing what to do in a panic, he headed toward the escape pods. He was looking for Jenna. When he found her, he felt an all too familiar sensation of being beamed out. Immediately he was on Jenna's parent's ship. He was looking for his parents. He heard "prepare to shift into warp..." Before he looked out to see his parent's ship explode. After that incident, there were a few regulations put into place. Jenna and Caleb were placed on permanent shore leave until Starfleet felt it was safe to bring families aboard ships again.

The first few years were tough for Caleb. Jenna seemed to be the only beacon of light. There were then able to hang out as much as they wished. They pushed one another to their limits, but they became stronger for it. Jenna wanted to pursue a career in Starfleet, much to Caleb's dismay. He often blamed Star Fleet for not warning his parents in time, when he learned later there was prior warning of the attack.

Caleb finally took the plunge with Jenna to join Star Fleet. This was only after Jenna joined behind his back. Even if they were separated, they were never more than a video message or journal away. They two knew they would be together at least for academy.

Previous Role-Playing Experience: I have been roleplaying for roughly about ten or so years off and on. The topics of role plays often ranged from established universes like Fullmetal Alchemist or Harry Potter to original characters in a known universe. The longest roleplay, which was one x one, last a full year and ended up being about 180 single spaced word document pages when all said and done. I have been roleplaying since the dialup days of Aol in group chats.

Sample post:
A light fog began to envelop the area. Caleb closed his eyes as he took a few breaths. The fog seemed to dance around his skin and as he breathed, he felt a tingle move over him.The image of a bar began to cut through the fog. In the background, the chilly silence began to warm as conversations filled the air. As Caleb opened his eyes, he found himself seated at the bar. The bartender, one of the romulan race, was taking orders.
"What'll you have?" She asked Caleb.

Caleb scanned his eyes. If he were to do thing right, he would need to pick the right devilish liquid. "Your best whiskey on the rocks... Oldest aged," Caleb said. The Barkeep took out a glass and grabbed a ball of ice.
After she walked over to a large barrel that was at the back of the bar. As she turned the crank to allow the liquid to pour out of the spout it swirled into the chilled glass.

Always assessing the situation around him, Caleb knew that it wasn't going to be easy. As he looked under his hands, his PADD sat face down. "Mission critical information," He thought. His eyes scanned the room. He needed a secluded place in order to look over the information. As the barkeep gave him his drink, she then gave him a look. "The private booths are back that way... already reserved," She said quietly and only to him.

Caleb gave her a nod in thanks and headed over to the secluded booth that was open. He drew the veil and entered his passcode. As he took the first sip of his whiskey, the liquid burned in his throat, but immediately began to sharpen his mind. The information finally displayed itself.

In the middle of the table, just above the PADD, an image of a Vulcan man spun. He shifted through the various files about the man. As his eyes scanned, his mind moved in a million places. He kept reading peace treaty and allies. Was this man an ally, or for the other side. Vulcans he knew rarely had beefs with humans. He must be an ally.

The curtain was drawn, as it was, he shut off his PADD. In stepped the male Vulcan that he was to speak to. There was a bit of silence between them as they sat down. "I trust you had a safe journey?" Caleb asked.

"Indeed I did... It is peace time after all," The Vulcan named Stanok said.

While the two chatted, the Barkeep noticed that there were a few shady characters that walked into the bar. Before she could flip a panic switch, her mouth was covered. Caleb, sensing danger, felt tense as the conversation continued.

"Is there something troubling you?" Stanok asked.
"No.." Caleb said with shifting eyes.
"Let me see into your mind" Stanok said as he mind melded with Caleb.
"I see now," Stanok said in a whisper. "You know it could be nothing... The Barkeep said we would have privacy." Stanok knew after the mind meld that Caleb could be trusted.
"On my count.." Caleb said.

When the curtain moved, there was an immediate firefight. Stanok and Caleb shot at the two who were holding the barkeep hostage. They fell as their blasters were set to stun. Caleb and Stanook worked together to knock as many of the assailants out. They came to the last man and knocked him out as his back was turned.

"Alright... that's enough!" A voice cut in. The bar disappeared into the same fog Caleb was in earlier. As it cleared, he found himself in an all too familiar holodeck. "Well let's check the tape and see how you did" A voice said.
