"What in the world?" Zex asked the klaxon started.  Knowing that her time here might be cut short, the Deltan took a short cut of her own.  She pulled down the sleeve of her shirt and then scooped up the object in her cloth covered hand.  "I'm ready" she told Marco.

Marco nodded, his eyes picking up that the Deltan had picked up something but there really wasn't time for twenty questions.  Instead he took her gently by the waist and aimed her towards the exit as the response from Engineering came in.

He pursed his lips but he realized that the engineering team was working fast and furious at the moment and he couldn't really be upset at them.  Marco knuckled his forehead for a moment as he reigned in his fury and then nodded at Zex.  "Let's get out of here and see if we can't do something to help."  He huffed, "Seems like we have a few minutes to live."

His large hand continued to guide Zex towards the exit as if Marco was finding any excuse to touch her.  He suddenly realized this and took his hand back and pushed ahead of her and lead the way.  If anything was going on outside of the crime scene he wanted to be the first exposed to it and leave her safely behind him.

[Deck 280]

After only a few long, anger-fueled strides, he caught up with her. As he matched his steps to match hers, he came close to her and dove for her waist with outstretched arms. His left shoulder made contact first, and he wrapped his arms around her, with the weight of his body causing her to tumble to the floor like a sack of potatoes underneath him. The pair skidded to a stop with the skin of her cheek letting out a high-pitched squeak against the floor as they slowed to a stop.

"I must insist that you tell me your name, madam," Ezac let out after allowing a brief moment for the gravity of the situation to settle on the woman. As he slipped a pair of handcuffs onto her wrists, he said, "Now I would appreciate your cooperation as I escort you to the brig."

Marco exited the crime scene in time to watch the Breen's mad dash across the deck.  His weapon was in his hand in an instant as his eyes tried to pick up what was going on.   He watched as the Breen closed in on a suspect, female by the way her uniform hugged her curves, but Marco could not tell the species from that distance.

A rare little smile curled at the corner of his generous mouth as Ezac tackled the female and slapped the cuffs on her.  "Wait here."  He told Zex not wanting her to approach in case the suspect female was dangerous, then made his way over to the Breen.

"Nice tackle."  Marco's features were back to business as he aimed his weapon at the female in attempt to cover Ezac, "I'm aware of your marksmanship, crewman, you could have easily just stunned her."  Yes, he could have but Marco knew that it was just much more fun to cause harm to a running suspect.  It was a dark thought but Marco was full of dark thoughts these days.

The female was struggling against the restraints and Marco could see the bruise on her cheek darkening.  She was not a bad looking woman, probably Terran and at the moment she was very furious.  "Doctor!"  He called to Zex, "Take this woman's DNA sample..."  He aimed a weapon at Simone's face and narrowed his eyes at her, "...suspect number one has just fallen into our hands thanks to Crewman Ezac here."

He turned to Ezac, unable to read the man through the helmet, "What exactly did she do?"

Ezac had noticed Benitez approaching as the handcuffs locked firmly against the woman's wrists. Now, as Benitez stood over him, Ezac looked up and responded. "Very true, Benitez. Truth be told, I gave no consideration for what to do. A need arose, and as much as I dislike saying that I responded without thought, my actions required no decision making process."

As Benitez spoke to his Deltan doctor, Ezac removed his knee from the small of the suspect's back. With both of his hands wrapped firmly around the handcuffs, he pulled the female suspect into a standing position. He rolled the handcuffs slightly until opposing sides of the metal restraints made direct contact with the woman's wrists. Should she decide to resist, a simple bit of further pressure would be enough to encourage her to reconsider.

He turned to Ezac, unable to read the man through the helmet, "What exactly did she do?"

Where to begin, Ezac thought to himself as he recalled the events. It felt like more time had passed than had actually passed. The events occurring since his suspect strode out of the shadows were now splayed out before him, like pages of a book that he could peruse at his leisure.

He looked at Benitez and started laying things out. "I was alerted by the sound of a metallic tool dropping onto the floor. I was troubled by the fact that the noise was not preceded by an obvious cause, like a person walking through. I yelled out, successfully eliciting a response from the suspect. She approached and began giving me reasons for her stealth. The subsequent sounding of the klaxons seemed to directly cause her to throw a tool at me and attempt to flee the scene. That is when I decided to prevent serious injury to herself and others by assisting her to the floor."

When she was done she stepped back.  "I have the DNA sample.  But if I had to guess, I think this ring belongs to our friend here" she said pointing out that the officer had an indention on her ring finger but no ring.

Howell was running around engineering trying to bug fix various things and try and gain control back. His plan was to try and isolate the electo-magnetic frequency that goes through when a command is sent through the Optical Network and then send an electrical pulse at that frequency through to the sub-processor. He was in the process of linking 21st century electrial wiring to the power assembly sub-processor, which is all he could use when a voice came through =/\=Howell here, we are working as fast as we can. As he connected the last wire, another engineer said Sir, we have nearly isolated the EM frequency. "Ok send the pulse through the wire when your ready" Dan replied as he waited.

As klaxons began to flare, Dylan was getting concerned. The System Destruct System was incredibly secure... so secure that it was almost impossible to activate, even in the best of times. He got to work, trying to countermand the order, but he found himself to be unable to comply. He tapped his commbadge. =/\= Engineering to Station Commander. He was about to nod at Zex for her good work when Simone jumped forward trying to get at the Deltan female.  Fortunately, Ezac's hold was strong enough to prevent the woman from moving forward but she was definitely furious.

"That's mine!"  She growled as she tried in vain to reach out for the ring that she knew was in the Deltan's possession.  Simone had thought she has lost the only thing she had left of her husband.  The fact that she had lost it while killing Guerrero was unfortunate. At the moment she did not care, she just wanted it back.  "Give it to me!  Please!"   The suspect then broke down into a crumpled crying mess.

Marco pursed his lips in thought but reacted very little to the dramas.  He was aware that the final piece of the puzzle had just been introduced but that just left the motive.  He crouched down to where she lay and placed his hands on his thighs, "I can go on and on asking you endless questions but for now we need this.  We need you to stop the station from exploding.  If you can do that for us, we will be most grateful."

His eyes remained steady on hers as she looked around at the blaring red of the klaxons and she huffed, "Get slammed."  Simone responded venomously, "I hope you all die."

A fury pressed against Marco's skull and it erupted like a volcano.  His large hand struck out, grabbing the woman by the throat and slamming her against the decking until her other cheek was just as bruised as the first one.  He pressed down knowing just how much effort to exert before he'd break her delicate little neck.

"Now.."  His voice was trembling with rage, "..I do not WISH to die, so if you will kindly shut it down."  Marco leaned over until his nose was touching her cheek, his hand squeezed her neck until she was gasping for air, "Funny..."  He spoke close to her ear, "...how the body continues to try to live when it knows its dying."

"Alright.."  The woman gasped, causing Marco to tilt his head in order for him to hear better.  "Alright."  She repeated and he released his choke hold on her.  Marco then proceeded to grab her roughly by her clothing and pick her up as if she weighed nothing.  Once on her feet he frog marched her towards the nearest panel and pointed at it.

"This is your handy work.  Override now!"  His eyes shot threats that if she didn't know by now were real then she was as stupid as she was murderous.  Simone frowned, the urge to spit in the man's face was stifled as she quickly put in her codes with her hands still bound before her.  Soon the station's warning died down and they went from red alert to all normal.

Although Ezac was prepared for the woman to jerk away, he was caught off-guard by Benitez grabbing the woman. As such, he could only watch as the woman's face met the floor with a dense thud. Ezac wasn't one to use the methods that Benitez was employing, but given the circumstances, he felt it was justified. Ezac remained where he was and watched the exchange unfold before him.

Ezac reached for the suspect's handcuffs in anticipation of Benitez handing her over. With a gentle twist of the handcuffs, he ensured that restraints were in constant contact with both sides of her wrists at all times.

He prompted the woman to start walking, and as she did, he remained close by her side. In an effort to remain fair and as impartial as one could be, Ezac spoke to her using a calm tone. "I trust, madam, that you will do your part in keeping our walk to the brig uneventful." As the pair walked, he could hear Benitez and Zex speaking.

Ezac continued. "It is difficult to give respect when it is not received. Regardless of what has transpired within the last few minutes, you have the ability to change the course ahead. I would encourage you to give the future serious consideration."

Marco then turned and began to follow Ezac and his charge.  Knowing the Breen had things at hand, he pulled out his PADD and began to review the situations around the base.  It was a long list with a lot of injuries caused from the panic of the Red Alert but fortunately no deaths.  With the killer in custody it would seem that the danger was over, but Marco knew better.

There were so many things that needed to be dealt with.  Did this woman have accomplices, were there more booby traps, but most importantly of all, why did she do this....

As Ezac escorted his female prisoner through the hallways, he knew that either Benitez or Zex had chosen to follow, but he wasn't sure. It was difficult to look without taking his attention off of the woman in cuffs. So, for now, he would have to wait.

[Brig]

The woman had been quiet the whole time, uttering not a single word. Despite Ezac's curiosity as to whether or not his recommendations resonated with her, he was content not speaking. He was thankful she didn't put up a fight, but it made sense; she was running out of cheeks to bruise.

He strode through the room, with her at his side, until he reached a vacant holding cell. He positioned her inside the cell and removed the handcuffs from her wrists, all the while keeping a watchful eye on her body language. Before she could respond to being free from the handcuffs, Ezac pulled his hands back and watched the force field activate.

Ezac turned around and chose a seat where he would remain until he was no longer responsible for her.

Never turn your back on a Breen.

"She will be in one piece when she is sent to court, doctor."  Marco assured her in his usual monotone, his eyes were set easily on her own blue orbs.  In the staredown game, he was a pro but with Zex it was different.  He sighed, "Fine, you will join us at the Brig, but me or one of the other security personnel will be with you always when you're alone with her.  She's already proven herself a killer."

Zex had won the staring contest and the argument.  And there was no reason to push her point any further.  "I can live with those conditions.  Lead the way" she replied contently.
