He crossed straight to Krol, and spoke under his breath. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called you out in front of the bridge like that." He held out his hand. "Lets make a deal. In future, you consult senior staff before making big decisions, and in return, I don't annoy you to the point that you want to kill me?" he asked.

As Price talked to Krol, a hail came in from Mr. Jameson.  He had the coordinated for the prisoner exchange.  "Lt Cadenza, I am sending you the coordinates of the prisoner exchange" Kirok said to the man.  Then he looked toward the captain.  "Mr. Jameson wants us there as quick a possible, so I would suggest Warp 9.975" he added.

After a short trip, the Churchill arrived at the destination of the prisoner exchange.  The five refugees as well as the prisoners retrieved from the Valiant were escorted to the transportation room.  They were transported over the the coordinates that had been provided.  "Captain, we have started the exchange process.  They now have our prisoners" Kirok reported.

Lance glanced to Price. "We'll talk about this later, right now there's a war going on," he dismissed him, in a not unkind tone. Standing, he walked over to Kirok and acknowledged him. "Thank you, Mr. Kirok, proceed as normal and collect the prisoners. If we don't have them or they attempt to escape, open fire like you've got nothing better to do."

"Acknowledged, Captain" Kirok replied in his usual tone, though it did sound a bit formal.  He prepared his his duty station so that he could fire phasers and torpedoes with a touch of a button.  The Churchill had successfully transported the prisoners and refugees they had carried over to the receiving pirate ship.  Now he simply need to get the Federation members who had been captured by the pirates back to the Churchill.  "Locking onto Federation targets now.  Initializing transporter beam" Kirok called out.

Raymundo waved him to step over to LT Medows and said," Doctor, is his condition critical enough that he would need to be in sickbay? Or is it something that can be treated in the Brig?"

Alyssa looked at Raymundo, making a connection via eye contact. "He needs to go to sickbay." Alyssa replied. "Don't worry though. If he tries anything, I will sedate him or do something more creative."

The refugee with the broken arm looked from the doctor back to the security officer.  He offered the officer a smug nod.  "Works for me" the refugee replied.

Raymundo nodded and left the prisoner in the good doctors care and returned to the rest of the group. "All right." he stated, "The brig is just down the hall on the other side of the deck, move." as he followed the line of 4 being led by another security guard.

"Fine" the self assigned leader of the refugees replied.  He looked at his men and gave them a nod.  They formed a line and allowed themselves to be led down to the brig without incident.

Lance spoke up from the centre chair. "Just get the ones who need help into the sickbay and throw the rest in the brig. Next time that's what we'll do."

Then a chime came through, and with it something unexpected. A distress call from the Valiant was superseded by a fantastic amount of data being forcibly uploaded to the ship. Lance called out orders and within moments damage control was being exercised. "Get us back to the negotiations, NOW!" he shouted to the room in general.

Kirok studied his duty station screen as the infomation from the forced upload passed by it.  Federation colony names, numbers, and other information were spooling across his screen.  It was more information than he could make anything of given the fact that they needed to respond to a distress call from the USS Valiant.

The data, however, did created several questions for the man.  Questions that needed to be addressed quickly.  Did the data somehow contain a virsus that posed a threat to the ship and possibly had something to do with the distress call from the Valiant?  If so, what was the origin of the data and could the transmission be interrupted?  In response to his first question, Kirok set up a partician for the data upload so that a potential virus would not affect any of their operating systems and so that they could come back to the data later.  In response to his second question, Kirok tried to track the stream of data back to its source and attempted to disable to data feed.

"I would suggest that we raise shields, Captain" Kirok called out as he looked up from his screen.  If they were heading into danger, it was best that the did so prepared.

"This time... I'm inclined to agree." stated Taras, a look of abject concern on his face. "Heading back to the negotiation zone, maximum warp!"

And with that, the Churchill complied, as it launched itself like a slingshot into a bright flash in the vast expanse of space.

Kirok looked back down at his duty station.  The information on it made him frown.  His initial attempt to trace the data upload back to its source had failed, but at least least the data flow had stopped and there was no sign of a computer virus.

Kirok allocated power to the shields.  They were ready if Krol agreed with the suggestion.  He simply needed to touch a button on his duty station to make it happen.

After the Churchil jumped to warp, Kirok tried to hail the Valiant.   =/\= Churchill to Valiant =/\= Come in Valiant.  Please give us a status update.  = Churchill out =/\= Kirok said into the comm system.

USS Churchill: Brig
<><><><><>

Raymundo keyed in the password for entry to the brig and the prisoners filed in. With a quick key press the force field went up with a hum. "Your turn to watch is up." He said to the crewman who accompanied him. However he could not leave without seeing Mr. De Witte. True that man gave a chill up his spine and he would not be sad to see him go, but he know that once free he will return to his previous life and would only need to be captured again. It left a taste of bile in his mouth.

Standing in front of cell one he observed that indeed that he had yet to change his position but now appeared to be asleep. However not more than a few seconds of standing there he opened his eyes and fixated a stare at him once more. As though he sensed his presence. Then he did something new and looked away, down at what appeared to be a antiquated wrist watch. Returning it under his sleeve he looked at Raymundo and said. "You may want to report to your duty station"

When no response came from the Valiant, Kirok frowned again.  He checked over his duty station to make sure it was still working properly, that it had not been somehow affected by the data upload.  To him, everything looked fine.  But then again, his expertise was tactical systems, not computer systems.

=/\= Kirok to Mr. Joval =/\= Please report to the Bridge.  =/\= Kirok out. =/\= Kirok said after he tapped his com badge.

Lance made a quick motion to Kirok. "Raise shields before we make contact, power up weapons and hail on all emergency and standard frequencies any federation-registered vessel within the next twenty lightyears. We'll probably need backup. Tell them an Executive of Starfleet's life is endangered and their assistance is required."

He slouched in his chair, his heart pounding. To think I used to repair warp drives for a living.

Alyssa took the refuge and moved towards the sickbay. In the transporter room, everyone seemed to downplay the injuries of the refuge that she was escorting. He was an absolute mess: His entire body seemed to be caked with dirt, his hair a frizzy mess. His fingernails were too long and caked with dirt. It appeared that he had not access to such essential necessities for a long time.

The doors to sickbay opened with the usual woosh as Alyssa put her hand behind the refuge's back and walked him to a biobed. "Wait here for just a second." she said as she moved to the way station and grabbed several necessary supplies. She moved back to the refuge and opened the tricorder in order to conduct the physical.  His arm was worst than broken, it was fractured in three different places; the man's heart rate was 142 beats per minute and blood pressure at 231 over 164.

Alyssa blinked to be sure that the readings were correct. They were off the chart for a regular person. She tapped her comm badge, for she was worried. =/\= Meadows to Krol, I need you down here, sir. It's an emergency.=/\= That was when the refuge fell to the ground.
