[ 18 Days later]

Still no sign of the Discovery. They must have been delayed. The power on the shuttle was all but consumed, and Scott had finished his rations 3 days before. But still he had not given up. He had read his book, and re-read it. Nothing would persuade him to give up on Riley. As he began to doze off, a faint shimmer was heard within the read section of the shuttle. Realising he was not dreaming, he struggled to open his eyes, as before him stood Commander Munro. She looked exactly the same, as if nothing had happened to her.

The look on her face under closer examination betrayed this sense of innocence, she had been aware of every moment of her ordeal. It was plain for Scott's eyes to see. He held back a tear as relief swept over him, Riley also welled  up. With a perfectly synced movement, they moved forward to each other, caught in a massive embrace. No words where needed, there massive embrace conveyed there feelings. As they pulled away, they smiled at each other, both unable to stop a few tears escape. Scott smiled at her. his croaky voice showed the extent to which he had been overwhelmed.

" About time. "

They both laughed, it was a perfect way to lighten the mood. The console began to beep, as they both turned to see the fading blue light of the Discovery coming out of warp. With a sigh of relief, Scott took the helm.

" Come on, we're going home. "
