Kawolsky turned his head to look at Cortez. The lieutenant got the message.

Scott fired his phaser at the oncoming troops, they seemed to just keep coming

" Any time now Discovery, we could use a change of scenery! "

A few seconds later, Cortez had them in the transporter beam.

"We have them, sir"

Kawolsky quickly shifted his focus to the helm.

"Helm, get us out of here, maximum warp!"

The Discovery powered up to full impulse, leaving the planet behind. A moment later, she jumped to warp, along with the Bellerophon and the Spaatz. Kawolsky slumped back in his chair, taking a sigh of relief. They had been lucky this time.

[[12 hours later]]

"Captain's log, stardate 64465.5. We have arrived back at Starbase 83 for a full debrief. With the discovery that the Iconians have been using some sort of holographic interrogation technology on prisoners of war, Starfleet is natuarally worried. We have transferred the rescued prisoners and are awaiting further orders. I hope they come soon. I can't stand waiting."
