[Station]

Fear raced through her entire body, her stomach tightening up. Then LK laid her medikit, tricorder and phaser on the deck as instructed. She noticed that no one was being searched so felt no need to remove the dagger from her boot sheath. She suddenly remembered the lesson her father drummed into her every time she got herself into trouble: He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day. She straightened up, forcing the fear back into the deepest recesses of her being.

Unknown Station

The soldiers dragged them into a cell, if you could call a 10 foot square metal box with nothing except the light source in it a cell, and left them alone securing the door behind them. Lizzie immediately went over to Dylan and began to check him over. Apart from the head wound which, as head wounds always are, very bloody, did not seem either deep or dangerous. She then did a check over his skill to check for any underlying injuries. Thankfully she found none. She turned to Reede.

"Are you hurt Ms Reede?" She asked as she supported Dylan's head in her lap.

“No, just shaken up.” She nodded at the XO. "Head wounds are the worse looking but seldom fatal. Is he alright?”

Lizzie nodded.

"I believe so. He'll probably be a bit dizzy for a while and he might have mild concussion. We'll know more when he wakes up. The wound is not deep, nor has his skull been fractured. I recommend that we rest while we can. Whatever these people have in store for us, it is unlikely to be either short or pleasant." She replied. "Thankfully I have no injures either, though those soldiers had some sort of chemical agent with them. Not one that I recognised but I could certainly smell it. I just hope it was not a toxin!" She added.

[Room]

Dylan was lying on the ground, the wound no longer bleeding profusely but still damp with blood. He was still on the ground, breathing but shallower than would be considered normal. He had also been dumped on a very uncomfortable angle... that's what he got for trying to speak out. The door was barely visible, but it had quite a thick material- the room appeared to be airtight. Ventilation was being handled by a vent in the exact ceiling. This wasn't just a cell... It was a lab.

Dylan groaned a bit, softly, as he began to stir. Wonderful timing. He would awake just in time to die.

Lizzie heard and felt Dylan wake up, she gave a sigh of relief.

"Good, your back with us. How do you feel? Any dizziness? Nausea?" She asked softly, only just remembering not to use his first name.

[Space]

The ships fired their weapons, the beams streaking through space and soaring past the Challenger into deep space, missing the hull by meters. =v=There are no negotiations to be had. You are trespassing on Vubid property and space- we will overlook your ship's infraction... this time. Withdraw or risk the safety of your ship.=v=

The ships closed ranks. =v= Your Government will be contacted, Commander=v= came the sneering reply.

[Bridge]

Zex looked at her view screen after she send the hale.  The massive ship appeared out of now where.  "Sir" she said to alert Will.

But apparently it was too late.  Their men were behind enemy lines.  As if the enemy had planned this all along.

A trap to draw them in.  Then once in place, to appear out of no where and capture them.  But to what end.
[Bridge]

Will leaned back in his seat causing it to creak slightly "I don't think they like us here. Well, frankly, we aren't leaving without the Away Team."

He looked around the Bridge "Suggestions?"

Zex looked up from her screen.  She took a moment to offer a reply.  For there was no simple answer to the man's question.

"We are out numbered and out gunned.  And from the looks of it,  this was some type of trap.  We have no chance in winning a battle if he go at them head on" the Deltan said.

"Not without backup, at least.  But we might have a chance if we try diplomacy.  If not, deception might be our only play" she added honestly.

[Deck 14, near main deuterium tank]

Lek closed the access panel and looked to see how the others were doing with their repairs.

"Finished Sir." Whitlock reported.

"Excellent."

Lek canted his head listening to how the ship sounded and frowned.

"Something has changed. We aren't firing any more, but at least we aren't being fired at either. I don't know if the battle is over or not, but it looks like we are in some sort of lull. The rest of you head back to engineering. Drass. Monitor the deuterium flow and make sure that our bypass is stable. I am going to sickbay to check on th'Zarath."

Lek only absently heard the "Aye Sirs." from the others as he headed for the nearest turbolift. It was a short trip from deck 14 to deck 10, but it seemed to take longer than it ever had before. As soon as the car stopped, Lek ran the rest of the way to sickbay, but managed to slow himself to a more dignified walk just before the doors swooshed open.

[Sickbay]

"Uh...hello. I'm checking up on crewman th'Zarath. Can anyone tell me how he is doing?"

[Station's Cell]

Not trusting the good doctor to pay much attention to herself, LK gave her boss a quick visual checkup. No, the doctor wasn't injured. The blood was definitely Cmdr. Torngate's. Standing slowly 'Don't want to alert any guards, Lt(jg) Reede turned in a slow circle. The room wasn't very large; maybe big enough for six people to lay down comfortably.

The walls were smooth, no hidden portals that she could see but that didn't mean they weren't being spied upon. So, no whispering a strategy to get out of there.

She looked back at Torngate and the doctor.

Addressing the XO, she asked softly, "Can you stand?"

Lizzie shook her head as Lt Reede asked Dylan if he could stand.

"I don't want him getting up yet. There is nowhere for us to go until they open the door, so we might as well take it easy." She remarked. She then caught Reede's eyes and raised her left eyebrow in a clear question.

'Did you find anything?'

It was a pity that neither of the other two spoke Welsh, as it invariably gave translators a hard time with its mixed syntax's and lack of connection with any other language. She did not want to start planning out loud as who knew what listening or watching devices were in the walls.

Will nodded as the Deltan spoke and pondered for a moment before speaking "What if we do a short warp jump? We will appear at two places at one time. We can beam the Away Team out and jump to Warp before they know what happened."

He shifted slightly "Or we can warn them about further acts of aggression on this vessel will lead to armed conflict with the entire Federation."

"Or" he said, stating a third idea "We claim to have cloaked ships on the borders of the system. This ship might not be a match but if they think we have a small task force then they might give us our men back"

"Of all the plans, I think the first one has the greatest chance of success" Zex replied.  "The lead ship is massive and thus much slower than our ship.  We can likely pull off a short jump warp and escape before they can react" she explained.

"It's a gamble.  But one worth taking" Zex added.  "In, my opinion.  Sir" she finished.

Lizzie shook her head as Lt Reede asked Dylan if he could stand.

"I don't want him getting up yet. There is nowhere for us to go until they open the door, so we might as well take it easy." She remarked. She then caught Reede's eyes and raised her left eyebrow in a clear question.

In the right place at the right time, she thought. LK looked at the doctor directly and nodded before saying, "Of course. You're right." Hoping she sounded as if she were talking about the XO rather than the tiny red light she'd seen burning steadily in the corner of the room. How to convey that?

LK slumped back down onto the deck, wrapped her arms around her knees then laid her head down onto her arms.

"Lizzie," she said in a (hopefully) quavering voice, "What's going to happen?" Reede let her eyes move upward and to her left to indicate the corner of the room. "I'm a little scared."

There. She was sure her calling the doctor by her first name would hint that they were friends as well as colleagues. What that would do remained to be seen. If it did anything. She was sure that Dr. Vaughn understood about the junction her eyes indicated.

LK's thoughts drifted away. Her head lolled to the side and she was unaware that she'd fallen asleep.

Lizzie caught Reede's comment and followed the other woman's gaze to the corner of the room, where her sharp eyes caught the tiny point of light. The then smiled at her, not confidently, but enough to play along.

"I'm sure we'll be fine." She replied. "They'll search our possessions and all they'll find in our kits are the medical supplies we bought with us. Hopefully we'll be back on the Challenger soon." She paused before continuing. "I hope the Captain will be alright, after all they have executed commanding officers before for lesser crimes! I would not want to be him when my father finds out what has happened! The Captain will be lucky if he gets to keep his head after Daddy has finished with him. As as for the people who attacked us!" She paused again. "Daddy'll probably send a battle group or two after us. Being the Daughter of an Admiral has it's perks!" She giggled slightly, looking at Reede, hoping she would play along.

[Cell]

Dylan tried, immediately, against the requests of the Medics, to stand up. He braced himself against the wall and dragged himself, only to become dizzy, lose his bearings, and fall flat on his arms again, barely catching himself as he groaned. He dragged himself to the wall and laid himself down on it, sighing as he tried to relax...

Just in time to get a rather painful electrical shock. The zap threw him back down on the ground, onto his face, as he grunted. It appeared the walls had been electrified, and they would not be allowed to touch them. The shock had thankfully brought him back from a certain level of unconsciousness, and his eyes were wide as he took a few deep breaths. He began muttering to himself, quietly, and then a bit loudly.

"Torngate, D. Rank, Lieutenant Commander. 984-324-TD-638. 19 August 2371."... he said, repeating that four or five times. By Starfleet regulations, the only things he had to give up were those things. Name, Rank, Serial Number, And Date of Birth. If anything, it showed that he was conscious, but also knew he'd been captured. He looked up from the floor, and felt his head- damp with blood. "Torngate, D. Rank, Lieutenant Commander. 984-324-TD-638. 19 August 2371..."

[Challenger]

A hail hit the ship as the opposing fleet began to slowly surround, as a jolt of shield contact hit. It appeared the ships were now trying to push the Challenger, shield bump by shield bump, barely rocking the enemy ships but jolting Challenger quite a bit and taking damage to her shields.

Attempts to bypass shielding or location blockers had thus far proven fruitless. Safefta wasn't deterred, even with their own encroaching problem of other ships effectively being used as a massive, slow-moving battering ram to force them all out of place. She held a tight grip to her console even as the vessel rocked harshly again.

"Shields at 54% and falling with each impact--" she informed the bridge at large, just as the priority hail came through from the Admiral. There was no room for ceremony, or even for her to approve or deny the hail request.

Safefta's eyebrow shot up. Spoken with the head of the race without as much as a warning ahead of time? Having worked with Admiral Lafayette in the past, she knew her to be a stickler for protocol and not one to give up on the lives of officers. Something was... very, very strange. It was not her place to object out loud, so she decided her best course of action would be to trace the signal's origin and makeup-- all the while ensuring she was rotating shield polarity to maximise their strength with the different impacts.

Alarms started going off.  Not a good sign at all.  The Deltan' hands were busy at her duty station.

And now an Admiral was haling them.  She turned back to Will.  "Captain?" she called out asking for orders.
