Orantom Trea - Reporting In (04/30/2017)

Character Details

Character Name: Orantom Trea
Character Age: 36
Character DOB: 09/20/2358
Character Image: Here
Character Species: Betazoid
Gender: Male
Character Family: Father is Lucroh Trea, an insurance salesman. Mother is Molla Trea, who was a stay-at-home mom but now has very little to stay at home for. They're both very proud of him, and very bored and lonely in their old age. All they really have is each other. Oran calls home often.
Character Bio: Oran was born to Lucroh, a former military man who picked up an office job after a completely accidental, non-combat related injury put out his back more or less permanently. His mother, Molla, was a somewhat unusual figure in Betazoid culture, who forward-thinkingly retired along with her husband to appreciate the family life when their son was born. In the absence of the physical ability to get into the kind of trouble he wanted to, Lucroh taught his son all that he could in the largely demilitarized society of Betazed. Engineering and medicine were most of it, and Oran took to both fairly easily, but always resented being made to live the military life his father was deprived of. In a telepathic family, this was very hard to hide, and often a source of conflict.

Growing up as a weird hybrid between a pacifistic Betazoid and a Federation stellar navy brat, Oran struggled to make friends, his thoughts too often speaking for him as he interpreted everything, sooner or later, as a contest between him and those he met. Though naturally empathetic, he was always less approachable than others his age.

Concerned at their son's growing isolation from his peers, Lucroh and Molla often pushed him to make friends, his father's tack shifting from living vicariously through his son and to supporting him into a more social and outgoing way of life, to little avail. Going into higher education, Oran escaped from his parents and began to blossom as he pursued what he really wanted to do - fixing his dad's issues. A military man with a life of regret and trauma, his father had clear hangups with normal, unstructured life that had always caused conflict with his son, his wife and his own boring coworkers, and Oran channeled his father's instilled military rigor and his own interest in military psychology into a degree in exactly that.

For a while, Oran worked as dead-end a job as his father in a city as far away from his parents as was convenient, living his own slightly lonely life and entertaining few close friends. Eventually, however, Betazed simply didn't suit him anymore. Taking the next shuttle to the closest Starfleet facility, he enlisted.

There's a lot one can infer, reflected Jamie, from the way they fidget when you stare.

In this instance, the dude was a random guy in the queue, with a kinda lopsided grin, a little bit of a dumb stare, looking at him sideways as he drunkenly half-loped ahead to try and cut in and join his mates. He was pretending very hard to not be aware of what he'd just done while Jamie stared, hard, and it was a full five seconds before the punter broke eye contact and turned to his friends.

There's also a lot one can infer from whether or not a dude's willing to square up. The punter was bragging to his mates about how easy it was to cut in while Jamie stared. He was bigger and taller than Jamie, but that didn't matter. Jamie wasn't willing to fight anyone anyway, so size didn't factor. It was all about the way he fidgeted. And he did.

Even as the chump tried to back out of his predicament by gently backpedaling in his conversation with his mates, talking about how it wasn't a nice thing to do though, really, Jamie rolled his shoulders slightly. Not escalating anything. Escalating things always made it messy, but violence perceived is violence achieved. What was important was that it looked like Jamie was willing to throw a punch.

Finally, he got what he wanted. The queue-cutter turned to him and drunkenly slurred out "Yeah, obviously I wasn't gonna cut, mate, don't worry. You alright?" Jamie's face split in an easy grin. "Oh 'eh, mate, I'm fine," he assured his adversary, as the chump meekly sorted himself back into his place.

Hi Orantom,

I won't be the person approving it, but great application! Just wanted to let you know that this has been seen and is being considered. We have an admin on leave but someone will be responding soon, I promise!

Greetings Orantom, or should I say welcome back.

I enjoyed reading your application and apologize for no one getting to it sooner. Admiral Kirok usually deals with the apps, and I just realized he's on vacation right now.

I can offer you a Medical position on the USS Shran. They are currently in need of one and have your Medical-OTC started if you wish.

If this is satisfactory, please report to Commander Hawke on the Shran.

Kind Regards,

Chris
