Solluk

Name: (Captain) Roderick Marks
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 03/20/2357
Age: 38

Appearance

Height: 6'
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Dark Brown
Characteristic elements: Scruffily handsome, with a dangerous glint in his eye when something irks him.  Has a large scar on his left torso covering four bioplast ribs, and a biomechanical left lung.

Backstory

Roderick Marks' parents were scientists working on the Venus Science Colony, and he grew up on that inhospitable world in an enclosed facility.  He didn't see the stars with his own eyes until he was ten, when he accompanied his parents on an offworld vacation.  He was immediately smitten, and knew that he would someday be among the stars.

Physically and mentally gifted, his performance in school was stellar, and when the time came, his application to Starfleet was accepted.  He climbed the ranks, serving in Flight Control, Security, and Operations before attaining his own command of a Rhode Island class vessel, the USS Hawaii, when he was just 35.  Early performance in the role was superb, with him gaining citations for fighting off a Nausicaan pirate incursion near Shelliak space, and for resolving diplomatic issues with the Trovalans.  Everything seemed primed for Robert to become one of the great Captains of Starfleet.

Then 'The Makrasian Incident' occurred.  The USS Hawaii was observing a sublight-capable pre-Warp civilization called the Makrasian Republic, as they seemed to be on the cusp of attaining warp technology.  He watched in horror as he saw them being invaded by the nearby hostile Penusian Empire.  The Penusians were an expansionist and xenophobic group who had recently achieved Warp technology and were using it to destroy their neighbors.

The Penusians began their scorched-earth conquest with the outer colonies of the Makrasian solar system, committing total destruction and absolute genocide at each location attacked.  Roderick's mind and heart cracked as he watched the carnage unfold under intermediate-range sensors from just over the border from Makrasian space.  He listened to Makrasian tachyon broadcasts as they begged for help.  He watched video feeds of beheadings, and people being hung by their own entrails.  He ordered the Hawaii to intervene.

Though the Hawaii was technologically superior to the Penusians, it was vastly outnumbered.  The fighting was fierce, and the ship only barely managed to come out on top.  The Penusian invasion fleet was fought off, and the Makrasians were able to preserve their core world and their two lunar colonies.  Their outer colonies were all lost, and ten million of their people had been slaughtered, including men, women, and children.

Roderick was court-martialed for the incident, charged with violating the Prime Directive and even brought up on charges of committing war crimes during the fight.  Roderick took full blame for the incident, to the point of explaining that he threatened his crew with disciplinary action if they failed to obey his orders.  (Although this was not true.)  The war crime charges were quietly dropped as Starfleet and the Federation desired to avoid a scandal, but he was drummed out of the service on a dishonorable discharge.  He only avoided a prison sentence because of political machinations designed to minimize the incident in the public eye.

With his career and reputation ruined, Roderick now seeks a career in the private sector as the operator of a civilian freighter.  But it turns out that a dishonorably discharged Starfleet officer can't easily get a loan, and a lifetime of saving his credits seems to mean little outside of the blue line of the Federation border.  If he wants to buy a ship, he will have to go through unorthodox channels to do so...

Species: Ferengi
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 07/29/2360
Age: 31

Appearance

Eyes: Brown
Hair: N/A

Backstory

Rama grew up grew up in a traditional Ferengi household. At the age of 19 Rama held an auction of his favorite personal items in keeping with the Right of Attainment. With his pockets filled with latinum Rama took his first job as a waiter on Ferenginar. He spent five years in that role saving his latinum. Rama always felt a call to the stars. The 75th Rule of Acquisition rang in his lobes. "Home is where the heart is, but the stars are made of latinum." He heard of a relatively new station that the Hew-Mons had built. Rama's lobes tingled as he saw the opportunity to get in on the ground level of a new opportunity. With two suitcases, one filled with his latinum, Rama booked passage on a Lasepian transport and set off to make his mark on his first big business venture.

After a string of nefarious entanglements behind a facade of a small bar on a Starfleet station everything came to a head when he was arrested by Starfleet for the trafficking of substances illegal in the Federation. He spent two year in a Federation penal colony. Following those two years he was freed and was on the hunt for his first opportunity out of prison.

Age: 17

Appearance

Navin was born on Earth to a single mom who put him in the foster system where he was sent from home to home until he was 14, when he decided to run away after being beaten and abused. After successfully managing to sneak aboard a cargo ship destined for a Starbase, he managed to find a way to replicate false IDs rather effectively, which he then sold to the criminal underworld. That's how he caught the attention of Jor Trem. In repayment for a loan from Trem in order to expand his operations in forging new and untraceable identification, Navin made a deal with Trem to help smuggle exotic and/or illicit goods to pay off the debt.
We're in Starfleet here. Weird is part of the job description.

#3

Name:Jenna McKnickolson
Age: 24
DOB: April 13 2368

Character Image:

Height: 5'7"
Eyes: Green
Hair: Blonde with ombré tips
Characteristic elements: When you look in her eyes you see her drive, but also the recklessness that led her into her current situation. She has a full bodied Aussie accent and a fiery temper that makes her eyes almost turn red.  She had always been a grease monkey so engineering was her forte.

Character Species: Human
Gender: Female
Character Family:
Father~ Micha McKnickolson
Mother~ Ailsing McKnickolson
Character Bio:

Jenna was the third child of Micha and Ailsing McKnickolson. They were longtime friends with Jacob and Alice Brighton. The four of them were said to have lead some of the best ships of Starfleet. Much like the Brighton's the McKnickolson's deed were too worth merit in their own rights. The two pairs were friends in Academy and carried the traditon of friendship up until the untimely demise of Jacob and Alice.Jenna was best friends with Caleb Brighton, the only child of Jacob and Alice. Often times Caleb would join Jenna while she accompanied her parents on diplomatic missions. After the Brighton's passed, Micha and Ailsing took Caleb in as one of their own without hesitation.

It seemed as the two grew they did everything together. So when they both contimplated Starfleet, Jenna jumped first. This was her gut decision because she wanted to see the universe, but it took a whole lot of convincing to get Caleb to go in with her.One day Caleb went missing after a particular mission. She reported it to Star Fleet, but was shocked at how little she felt was being done to locate him. After all his parents died in order to stop a major invasion happening. She decided one day that enough was enough. She began to secretly send out unauthorized messages hoping in vein to find her friend. Word caught on and soon she was put on probation by her superior. It just didn't seem to be enough for her and she was put on semi permanent leave of absence until such time that her head was straight.

During her time away she learned how to live on her own. Her family didn't want contact with her and it seemed like everyone was against her. The drive to find her friend was all she had. Her locket and knife are her only possessions she cares the most about. The locket was a gift given to her by Caleb and the knife was her only weapon of survival in the early days on her own. She remembered all those years of survival she forced Caleb to endure with her. This would be her bible when it came to survival.

During the time that she was looking for Caleb, she would do many favorite in exchange for leads. She didn't end up finishing one of her debts due to her semi moral compass. Instead of finishing the favor, she ended up owning the debt to Jor Trek.

Character Details
Character Name:      Behr Ira
Character Age:        35 years old
Character DOB:       2360
Character Species:   Bajoran
Gender:                  Male
Character Family:    Mother Behr Vel La
Father: Behr Kea
No known siblings

Character Bio: Ira was born toward the end of the Cardassian occupation. His father was a farmer and his mother was a teacher. Unfortunately the Cardassian overlords did not care for Á¢â,¬Ëœeducated' Bajorans and especially not when they were found to be engaged in resistance activities. Not long after his birth Iras' mother and her then infant child were taken to a Cardassian reeducation camp. There the fate of his mother was the same as so many attractive Bajorian women. After only a few years she was beaten down and died due to constant abuse and lack of medical care.

After his mother's death no one made any attempt to find his father, assuming he was another war orphan. He lived in the camp with other refugee children for almost nine years, until the end of the occupation. Bajoran orphans living at the edge of Cardassain prison camps learned quickly to lie, steal or do whatever they had to to stay alive.

When the invaders finally packed up and left it was almost another year before Ira was reunited with his father. During that time he was sent to an orphanage run by Vedek monks. Though Ira most certainly did not abandon his survival habits, he was fascinated by the Bajoran religion. The new knowledge was incorporated into his old techniques.

Back home with his father following years of extreme abuse and destitution, things did not go well. Try as he might the young man could not devote his time to full time farming. So after his rite of passage into adulthood Ira left home and entered the Calash Monastery to satisfy his curiouity regarding Bajors' religion. He managed to gain the Vedek title almost without realizing it. He also began a study of Bajoran herbs and healing potions.

But Vedek or not he could still could not fit in and when he took temple funds and used them to back a Springball betting league he was not only removed from the temple but sentenced to five years in prison. While there he expanded his knowledge of potions to include poisons, acids, explosives and other useful brews.

Since getting out of prison Ira has bummed around a bit, got a couple jobs working on sub-light freighters as a cook. Sometimes however his Á¢â,¬Ëœcooking' has been know to take a darker turn.

Recently while returning from a space station run the ship he was working on crashed, killing every one but Ira and worse, resulting in a complete loss of cargo. The ship was owned by the gangster Jor Trem who now holds Ira personally resonible for his losses. As such the defrocked Vedek now has three choices; repay the gangster millions of credits,(not possible), let Jor kill him, (hoping to avoid that), do whatever menial or underhanded task Jor needs doing, (and for the time being going with that one).

Personnel File: D'Zyre
Personal details

Basic profile

Name: D'Zyre
Date of Birth: 21st February 2368
Gender: Female
Species: Orion
Height:
Weight:
Hair color: Red
Eye color: Blue
Additional features: Drop-dead gorgeous

Family:

  • Mother: D'Lyla
  • Father: Unknown
Biography

Knowing of no life or family beforehand, D'Zyre was raised in a prestigious fesin, or "hutch", for the training of Orion slave-girls, from the tragically young age of 5. Like all the girls, she learned a wide range of arts and entertainments, including music, singing, storytelling, and most especially dance in a range of styles. Alongside, she learned to defend herself with a knife and dancefighting. When she was older, she was taught to be a good conversationalist and companion; to seduce, manipulate and deceive using her pheromones; and instructed in more intimate techniques and entertainments. But in the competitive world of the fesin, D'Zyre proved to be especially driven to succeed, learning early on that it was the only way to get out and to survive. She supplemented her learning with technical knowledge, taking machines apart, fixing them, and improving them, discovering a great knack for engineering that would serve her well as as an alternate career.
http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Orion_slave_girl

Thus D'Zyre graduated as no ordinary sex-worker, but as a full-fledged lodubyal, or "life-contractor", a highly talented and respected courtesan, an expert in traditional Orion culture. Commanding high prices, she was auctioned and sold to wealthy Orion "legitimate businessmen" and even agents of the Orion Syndicate. She worked hard, to entertain, distract, and seduce, and learned much illicit information in unguarded moments she could use for blackmail. She received a hefty bonus from one client, a Starfleet captain, herself an Orion woman once trained as a slave-girl. In her spare time, D'Zyre learned all she could of engineering, running a discreet side-businesses and eventually earning enough from work, gifts, and blackmail to buy her own freedom while she was still young enough to enjoy it.

Unfortunately, freedom meant no support, no home, no protection, and no more cash. But D'Zyre could be whatever she wanted to be now. She signed onto tramp freighters as a mechanic or engineer, steadily working her across the galaxy and up to better-quality ships. Thus she came aboard the SS Last Chance...

But she takes with her a good deal of Syndicate secrets and broken hearts, and there are many former clients who would want her back, or want her dead.

Personality

D'Zyre is a woman of towering pride, iron-hard dignity, and complete professionalism, an attitude that helped her stay sane and survive as a slave girl. No matter the circumstance, she is calm, cool, and in control, a perfect example of the Orion code of cluros. This hides an edge of bitterness and anger. Her experiences have left her remote and aloof in her dealings with others, unwilling to open up too much and expose vulnerabilities, but she is perfectly capable of acting otherwise. But that isn't to say that she doesn't care or is selfish or cruel, or can't make friends or love others, only that it is harder for her to trust and let down her guard. On the other hand, she's perfectly ready to seek out intimacy when she wishes it, on her own terms.
http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Cluros

After so much was demanded of her, she is often demanding of others, or merely expectant they will naturally do what she wishes. She insists on the best service and enjoys the finest things in life (at least to the extent that she can afford, finagle, or borrow). Thus she most often comes across as a diva, but her sharp edges are softened by the sensuous allure with which she does everything.

Her real passion is her engines, there are her true pride and joy. She keeps them well maintained, spotless, and in the best working order. She is just as demanding for the best parts, replacements, and maintenance time. She doesn't necessarily feel obliged to do the work herself, however.

Description

D'Zyre is a stunningly beautiful woman, with lush dark green skin, wild red hair, and bright and piercing blue eyes in a gorgeous face. She is tall, statuesque, curvaceous, and busty, the subject of any Orion fantasy. She wears the finest clothes, from a splendid dress to a revealing bikini, and even when forced into engineer's coveralls, she somehow manages to keep them spotless and in flattering form. She favours a lot of jewellery, some of it gifts from admirers or purchased herself, and a few stolen, but keeps it tasteful rather than gaudy. She takes it off when working for safety's sake.

  • Engineering and mechanics
  • Knife-fighting and dance-fighting

Jettis Jyur

Name: Lucille Aihua Grace
Species: Human/Orion
Gender: Female
Date of Birth: Nov 1st, 2367
Age: 28

Appearance

Height: 5'11
Weight: 123 lbs
Eyes: ice blue
Hair: black
Family:

  • Mother: LyLehn
  • Father: Jensen Grace
  • Brothers: Lyan, Michel, Raluh, and Gabrie
  • Children: Niisea Lehlana Grace

Biography

Lucille works as a multi-job conman and everything else illegal you could imagine. Her most common gig, though, is smuggling things and thievery. If you want to get something somewhere, she's the one you call. If there's something you can afford but can't get, she's the one you call. When she isn't in the bar tricking men into playing a rigged game of poker with her, it's doing this. And all of it is to provide for her daughter, so Niisea didn't have to grow up the way she herself did.

Lucille was born to an Orion mother and a human father. However, her mother died right after she was born, leaving her father alone with all of their children. And eventually, her father leaving those children. So their only chance of survival was not exactly following the high-ground. Her eldest brother was the first to get a job in smuggling. It was an easy enough job; deliver one thing to a certain person without getting caught. But he did a good enough of a job that the same man employed him again for a ridiculously larger sum of money, which required him to go off-world. From there, all the rest of them followed in Raluh's footsteps, aside from Michel, who became an engineer.

Now Lucille spends most of her time traveling and ensuring nobody even knows about the existence of Niisea. She's made as many friends as she has enemies, and everything in between.

Her seemingly innocent looking appearance is not to be trusted in any way. As can be expected, she's always looking for partners, no strings attached of course. She doesn't struggle to get them either, even without manipulation.
And she has nothing against shooting a man in cold blood, with little warning. Which is part of what makes her so successful - she would go to lengths others wouldn't to get what she wants. Which is likely what had stopped Jor from killing her in the first place.

She'd had her run-ins with high-rank criminals, but her first interactions with Jor Trem had thankfully put her high on his list of 'decent' people. She had a client who was looking for her to steal something very precious to the figure. But Lucille was less than dumb, and knew she would be given a much greater reward for alerting Jor to treason, than what the man would have paid her for her work. So that's what she did.
Personally turning him over to Jor, she indeed got a bigger reward for that than if she had decided to take the job, and inevitably get caught. For once, the person that everybody owed debts to, owed her. And this seemed to be a recurring theme- they both collected favours. Nothing went unnoticed, no matter how small, and they just ended up switching back and for between who owed who.
This time, Lucille had decided to ask for a safe place to keep her daughter. And as an exchange, she has to retrieve someone and bring them to safety. A fair enough exchange, that landed her on the SS Last Chance.
